Two Rivers cafe combines with Two Rivers Gallery resulting in a great dining experience in beautiful surroundings. The food is all made inhouse with an extensive cabinet range, a Daily Breakfast and Lunch menu, a Children’s menu and a Specials board. There is a large sheltered deck and garden at the back of the building perfect for summer dining and on colder days the building is warm and cosy with a heatpump and real fire for atmosphere. The coffee is sourced locally in Christchurch from Hummingbird and the tea from Tea Total in Auckland. The wine is from the Waipara and Marlborough regions including the ‘Two Rivers’ label. Local produce is used as much as possible with meats from Harris Meats, the local butcher, and organic vegetables from The Port Gardens at Gore Bay, not to mention free range eggs from Parnassus.

How lucky are we as New Zealanders to have people like the owner and operator of Two Rivers, who have created a space of world class quality in the form of a cafe, gallery and garden which everyone can share. We called in to Two Rivers on our Christchurch to Blenheim leg, heading home. Love, love loved it. The coffee, superb, the food, up there with the best and the surroundings are what made it all a very special place. Can’t wait to go back.

The food, coffee and service were excellent I thought. Have eaten here several times, and I have found that the experience is better every time.

Keep it up!

What a place, where should i start. The lady who greated me at the counter was grumpy and not too polite, causing my wife to make comment on the lady “Really liking her job aye”, The food was what i would expect from a school canteen, the pizza we shared was just aweful.
The coffees were inconsumable, how hard must it be to make 2 lattes, one with soy milk one with standard. The short lady in the kitchen was rude and loud, she could be heard swearing at someone from where we sat.

Also how can a cafe (i use the term loosely) be allowed to have a dog come and go through the door like it owns th place, cant do much for the healt standards.

I think next time my wife and i will just carry on to Dommett or Greta Valley

My partner and I travelled up to Kaikoura on Saturday for the weekend and stopped in Cheviot like we always do. We couldn’t get into the carpark of the cafe we normally visit as they were busy, so we opted for this new cafe across the street, two rivers. We were greeted at the door by this cute 3-legged dog and a sour-puss, I can only assume she was the owner. We ordered a couple of slices of pizza and coffees to start and a piece of brownie to share. The pizzas were lack-luster and flavourless, not worth the price I paid, but the brownie was good. This could have turned out an ok light snack if it hadn’t been for the coffees…
I sent my coffee back as the coffee was burnt from over extraction, the replacement was luke warm at best but still burnt and as a barista i was horrified!!! How could a barista treat coffee in such a way? where is the love? where is the skill? WHERE IS THE TRAINING?
The young girl was apologetic but said there was nothing they could do for me as they didn’t see they had done anything wrong…
I definately won’t be going back and suggest no-one else does, if not for the horrible coffee but the argumentative service and angry looks.

We were passing through on a holiday from where we live in the far north. Just wanted to have coffees and walk around a little. Coffees were excellent, but even better was the exquisite one-of-a-kind necklace that was calling to me from the glassed in case. Definitely serendipity!

a fantastic place to visit, friendly staff, good food and coffee. My 2year old daughter tripped and smacked her and the staff rushed around and got an ice pack etc. very nice experience, for a sore head.
Would rate this as the best place to stop on the long CH CH to Kaikora drive.
