Underneath the Vodafone Building on Viaduct Harbour Ave (on the back of Fanshawe St), Union Cafe is a regular lunch spot for local corporate workers, and business diners alike.

Fresh cabinet food accompanies the a la carte menu, which you can enjoy in a ‘slick and spacious setting with decor that is fresh, stylish and modern’.

Service is superb, as is the food – which is the face of a thriving catering service offered at the venue for corporate/private functions, weddings and big birthday events. (Off-premise catering also on offer.)

I find that the customer service there is not great at all, especially from the owner who I find is quite rude and very keen to take money for the goods but forgets to give you the food unless you stand there staring at them. The food is over priced and not that great. I do not recommend this place at all.

I’ve always found the Union cafe to have good coffee & very good service.

Even though a long queue forms for coffee frequently throughout the day, if you’re in the know, you can just take a seat and signal to receive table-service if you’re not looking for a takeaway.

I enjoyed my coffee today, and the yummy ginger crunch.

Very friendly and attentive wait-staff make it a great place to have a business meeting, in a very spacious and quiet area (head right to the back behind the faux-fireplace for a quiet spot).

I’d recommend Union Cafe to anyone at at that end of town.Prior to going sailing I popped in and had a hearty beef goulash and a great coffee. The goulash was perfectly spiced and the beef was very tender. They offer table service or counter service. The interior is light, bright and new. Plenty of tables available and its clearly well used by corporate staff.
