Ussco Bar & Bistro was named in 2011 amongst Cuisine magazine’s Top 150 Restaurants in NZ, and features the finest quality in bistro dining, with a menu comprising simple, seasonal and exceptionally good-tasting food.
The bistro & bar resides in the historic Union Steam Ship Company’s building near Gisborne’s inner harbour.
You’ll find a cosy and relaxed environment – the perfect place to enjoy a menu that is updated daily by Ussco’s Culinary award-winning owner and head chef Thomas Boyce. He creates his menu according to seasonally available produce, which is locally-sourced wherever possible.
Dinned at Ussco 21st of April 22, 2012, nice service but $32 for Burt Fish!! They did bring a replacement but the meal should have never left the kitchen. Not a lot of knowledge about local wine unhappy with our dinning experience

USSco Bar & Bistro is well worth a visit. The food is of the highest standard that you will experience anywhere and the pricing is fixed depending on how many courses you have. Great care is taken with the presentation.
On the Saturday night when we were there a two piece band was playing which really added to the atmosphere.
When next in Gisborne we will be heading back.

We have just visited Gisborne for the food and wine festival…the only restaurant worth a visit in my opinion is the USSCO bar and grill, i have eaten all over the world and our dining experience was world class…. the food had unbelievable presentation and taste,the staff and chef were fantastic!3 days later and were still raving about it!

This is seriously one of the best meals Ive had. Service faultless, meals exemplary! I had the pork belly, sublime flavours and nothing outdid anything else on the plate. Husband had duck and again the same sentiments. Complimented by TW chardonnay. Bella, Fantastique, We will return.
