In dunedin a few weekends ago and ended up eating at velvet twice! so yummy! =) slower wait on sat night but i guess it was there dinner period so we had expected that! burger was huge.. i got a velvet lady and partner got a true blue…salad was really fresh chicken was cooked perfectly! and all the staff were really nice and apologized about the wait even though it was really quick for how packed it was..

Went back on the sunday afternoon to the other store and it was real quiet so burger was put on quickly and was really quick to come out! Staff even helped with directions out to the beach and printed off a google map for us!!

will be back soon!! =)

Burgers are great but the staff suck, will not go again. If you don’t want to work in a burger joint get the f out.

Was in Dunedin for the weekend and wound up at Velvet Burger in the Octagon on Friday night, very tasty! Good food and a nice place to take the family. Staff were friendly and the burgers were huge! Cheers

Gutted. Gutted, gutted, gutted. Been planning to go to Velvet Burger for YEARS. I work just down the street. Wednesday was my birthday. Wife got me a voucher deal to treat myself for lunch. I was so excited. And……it was an exceedingly mediocre experience. Bloke behind the counter didn’t even acknowledge me for five minutes. He didn’t seem particularly impressed I had a voucher. Waited 20 minutes for my burger, watching people who came in after me get their burgers first. Then the guy walks past me and asks what I’m waiting for. He delivers my burger, I walk 60 seconds to my office, and it’s cold. Tasty enough, but cold. Waited years to try my first Velvet Burger, and I won’t bother again.

The Burgers can be great one time and very average the next time you visit. The aioli is beautiful:)

But- OMG THE STAFF, I have never met such a surley, rude bunch of hospo staff ever, Honestly guys, you work in a BURGER BAR for a living- lose the attitude. Take note owners, you are losing customers because of your staffing issues

No stars really. Previous comment backs up one I am about to make for today. Attitude was appalling at Octagon branch, ended up not ordering despite having specifically travelled to town to Velvet Burger to try them out for the first time. Had purchased a voucher they point blank refused to honour, despite it still being valid for use on the site it was purchased from with a nonsensical debate. Familiar with restaurant smells, the oil on entry, hadn’t smelt good. Still was prepared to try but the attitude was the final straw. If they had been at all pleasant I still would have ordered just to give it a go. Disappointed as I had expected good things from this food outlet, had been looking forward to it.

Took forever, and the filling in my burger was hardly filling the bun let alone my stomach.

the fries were chewy, and took forever!!!!!!!!!!

would not recommend at all… Stick to a fish and chip shop burger, or better still, Flying squid in Albany Street!
