Been to this restaurant 4 times in total but I am not going back again. They were doing very well about 2 years ago, excellent service, excellent food; $40pp. Since they had those promotion voucher on the net $48 for 2 people. Everythings going down. Limited food, limited variety, poor service. It is a buffet style but once the food has gone, never top up. I requested but they told me “Ran out”. Yes, you are running promotion for half price but you also kicking the returning customers out. Some even still paying a full price aye. Not worth to go. They are killing their businese. Thumb down!

Not worth visiting. Honestly. We only got 6 miserable oysters between 2 people. Poor choice of dishes, sushi was limited, desserts were terrible – the type of cake slices you’d get from Pak N Save (they prolly were, come to think of it) – they didn’t even bother topping up when it finished. We left after 30 mins. Not worth our money at all – no, not even with the voucher.

Don’t bother really. If it wasn’t for the voucher, we should have left. No bbq, just some fried rice, butter chicken. Soup. Few pieces of sushi. Nothing else worth eating. I just ate what I could stomach due to hunger. I have not been anywhere worse lately, I’m sorry to say. The voucher wasn’t even worth it to fight the busy city traffic to get there. I hope management takes some action. It’s just terrible.

We walked in and would have walked straight back out the door except that I’d already pre-paid for lunch on a voucher site.

The buffet lunch retails at $20 which is a complete rip-off. There is limited variety in food and nothing that was particularly Korean. There was a bland butter chicken, chips, chicken nibbles, pumpkin soup etc… Most of the dessert menu was out of a tin or cheap supermarket cakes that had been sliced up.

Oh, and there is NO bbq at lunch.

They repeatedly ran out of food while we were dining and they weren’t even particularly busy. Plates were simply left on the table instead of being picked up which is standard at a buffet restaurant. There was simply no service.

Went there with some friends on a Saturday night at 7pm. Been there before and despite the recent negative reviews, thought we can try it one more time but now totally agree with the other reviewers. Both quality and quantity was disappointing. Food on the night look nothing like the pictures on website, only got 8 oysters between 2 people. They stop bringing out food at 7:30 – went for first round and noticed some trays were near empty. Went for second round and it was still the same! Even items as simple as hot chips were not refilled. The noodles were not replenished, only had seaweed and kimchi there. By dessert time, had to ask them to bring out more ice-cream, fruits were only oranges and pineapple and still had to keep asking to get any. I don’t think I will come back again, for $45 per head I can get a really good seafood buffet at another place with much better selection and if I wanted Korean BBQ there are many places in Auckland that will do it for less than $20 per head.

I went to VIP a year ago with my family and we all enjoyed. We went back last week and was really good and there were lots of food, probably cause we were there at a reasonable time which was aroun 7ish! Price is slightly expensive but considering the fact that its buffet i guess its not too bad. Will be back again soon

Our dining experience was okay but it could of been better in terms of service. When I called to book I specifically asked if they were serving Oysters that night and was told yes but the reception neglected to inform us that due to winter shortage there was a limit of 8 oysters BETWEEN TWO PEOPLE. We expected a full buffet experience with all you can eat Oysters. The price should of been reduced if they could not supply Oysters in winter. Also there was only one staff member that could speak English which made communication difficult. The coffee was cold the ice cream container was empty (My partner had to inform them). The food was good and I loved the idea of cooking at your table but the service was lacking. They were not rude but it would have been nice not to have been tricked into booking when they didn’t inform us of the Oyster shortage (That was the only reason we wanted to go!)

Was a bit worried reading the previous reviews as I had to brought a Groupy voucher. So we went on Monday night just before 7pm and there was heaps of food. Delicious too! But I noticed towards 8ish more people where coming in and they weren’t bringing out more food. Seemed a bit odd. But it was a yummy feast and awesome experience cooking on the hotplate. They let me change my free wine or beer to a can of Coke without hesitation. If another voucher comes up I’d definitely be back. Though at $40 a head it is still good value for money if you don’t go when its busy.

I can’t agree more with what Sindy said on the review. We went there on Friday, 15 April at around 6.30pm, with a couple of friends. I did not manage to get much apart from eating seaweed salad for the entire night and a couple bits and pieces (Perhaps, not quick enough, like what others did, but just thought this is not right coz you can’t enjoy the food at all). We all feel that the restaurant can’t cope with the huge turnover (maybe coz it was Friday !) and the food was definitely insufficient on that night. Don’t think I will go back again, the first time yet the last time, not to mention we did not have any voucher at all !

Came here with a groupy voucher, thus not very disappointed. If i had to pay full price, i would be quite upset with the dinner. We arrived at 7 45 on a Thursday night, and we had to wait 20 minutes before there were ANY food. The buffet was all empty except the soups and kimichi. Even the dipping sauces were all gone. They started to restock food one by one slowly, started with the seafood which was gone literally a minute after they put it out as people crowded around the refreshed plate- it was a bit of a battlefield. The hot food was replaced after i had been eating for about 45 minutes, the sushi was only replaced once for my 2 hour duration there, again gone under a minute. Didn’t get to try many food and ate for a long time as we were constantly waiting for them to replace the empty trays of food!
The house wine which came with our voucher was watered down. The staff and owner however were very warm and friendly. I would never go here again unless i a) have another voucher 2) not starving like i was this time.

I went here at 6.45pm on Monday 18th October with my wife who is Korean. How disappointing the food was, it is nothing like the pictures on there website. They put out hardly any food, the dessert was sliced apple that had gone all brown, sliced oranges that were dried up, bowl of tinned peaches and 2 flavours of ice-cream for kids and that was it. As for the food all the food in the bain marie was cold and no choices, not like what they show on the website. I am a chef with 20yrs experience and I would rather go to Valentines than go here. don’t waste your money!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great tasting food, lots of parking, but don’t go on Saturday night after 7pm as we did. The range of food was poor, most hot dishes were empty so never got to try lots of different food as pictured on their web site. The desserts were pretty much non existent, scraping the bottom of the barrel for ice cream and the only fruit was sliced pineapple which disappeared as soon as it was served. The manager apologized, and suggested not to come on Saturday nights as it was so busy, rather than providing more food to satisfy his customers. From what was promised on the menu and what was actually available, not worth $40/head.

One of the best buffets with a huge selection. Fresh, really good tasting. Had to fiddle with the grill and service was a little slow, but will go back.

My clients took me out for dinner last week at VIP. All of us thought we had a superb dining experience there.
The seafood was fresh and they had a special BBQ beef there which was a must-try.
The environment was tidy and clean, and the service was also very good.
Definitely will go back there again.

It’s my favourite Korean restaurant in Auckland. They have variety of food – bbq meat, sushi, sashimi, salads, and other ethnic Korean food. They use fresh ingredients and their menu includes food that you just cannot get from other Korean restaurants. I especially love the special bbq beef that the chef cooks. You can also bring food to your table to cook at your own pace as each table has its own small charcoal bbq. Highly recommended! Even for those who haven’t tried Korean food before.

Excellent food and service! I was there for our office party in one of the private function rooms. The food is great, they have variety of different foods, all kinds of sushi, fresh sashimi (the chef told me that they actually buy directly from the fish market downstairs as and when they need so they only serve fresh fish), bbq meat (pork chicken beef seafood etc). I especially loved the charcoal beef marinated in some sort of teriyaki sauce. They also have quite a few vege menues so it’s also good place to go if your group has a vegetarian. Each table has their own bbq charcoal grill so you can pick and choose whatever meat you want, cook and eat. The staff were also very friendly and cleaned our plates and grill promptly.

Also, there are heaps of parking around so you don’t have to worry about the crazy city parking fee.

I would definately go back again and would recommend this place to my friends, especailly they have a big group to entertain.
