Went for a drink and had planned on eating elsewhere. After getting friendly, good service and enjoying the relaxing atmosphere and watching the food coming out we decided to stay. We ordered the Seafood Chowder as a starter to share. Been bitten with some nasty ones in the last week, didn’t want to have it as my main. It was so nice!!! Really regretted not having it and it was quickly gone. Mains arrived and where fantastic too. My dining partner had a the fish n chips which was a fantastic large meal and I had the Roast meal. My meal was great, even came with stuffing. Only thing was it was a tad dry, but not enough to complain or stop eating. The great service continued throughout our dining and when we went back to finish our drinks by the fire. The prices where low and meals large. This is our new spot in Invercargill for dinner and of course the Seafood Chowder.

My partner and I arrived at 5, as planned and booked before hand, we were not met my any waitress nor shown to our table – they were lounging over the bar talking- ok, so I went up to her and got this eh who are you look, I said who we were oh yeas after a pauses to think this way please she says, now, when I rung up, I specifically said I have a 5 month old with me, I will be breastfeeding is that ok, yes she says, yet they plonk me right by the window facing the street so all can see.. ok, they weren’t friendly at all, we have had a few meals there, and this is the worst experience yet. My partner ordered the seafood chowder for a starters, I ordered a small bowl of chips. Chowder was a lot thicker than usual, but, was the highlight of the night, my chips were soft and slightly soggy. I ordered a cocktail, way too much ice, diluted my drink. For our mains, partner ordered beer battered blue cod, for an extra 9 bux = 1 piece of fish, not very big, and partner said it was not at all what he was expecting, thumbs down for the cod. I ordered the pork belly done 3 ways, mash was lumpy with hard bits in it, pork was dry this time, and the best bit was the beans on my plate. My wee girl spewed at the table, asked waitress for assistance, for a damp cloth, as it was everywhere on my, she brings me a handful of napkins, doesn’t offer to help, just walked off. So we head off, was asked about my meal, said the chips were terrible and baby spew on it, I don’t feel the need to pay for something not cooked well, she said oh that no good, at least it wasn’t on your main then. oh was your main she asked finally, terribly dry I said, and a long silence followed. Has put me off going there for a long while, waitresses didn’t seem interested, maybe an off day for both staff and kitchen I don’t know. But if im going to pay 80 plus bux for a meal, and I get that sort of service, it wasnt worth going in the first place. Best part of the night, was my partners company.

Of the many times we’ve visited this place it has always been one of my fav.. fantastic!! service throughout..and very polite and informative waiters top notch! the atmosphere was great .the music was bit too loud though we could’nt hear ourselves talk..they it was ‘nt long before we had our meal..superb!!!!! 100%..then the waiter guided us to their best house wines and drinks..not to mention the best dish on menu( if we prefer).. so i would go back a million times,.. cosy quiet corners for the ones who want to enjoy their special nite out..cool!!

We ate here for lunch yesterday and never again! My daughter ordered a panini and when it arrived it was only half of one. I ordered a chicken salad and the chicken tasted exactly like ‘luncheon roll’ type chicken, a few sad lettuce leaves,completely no taste in the potatoes, and was so disgusting I left he entire meal! I told the waitress it was awful and the chicken was tasted processed and she got ‘upperty’ with me and said it was marinated, then changed her mind and said it was tender basted! What?? doubt it. SHe was very rude and made no offer to make amends.I began feeling sick with a queesy tummy late afternoon and today I have what I believe to be food poisoning! Will be contacting ILT.

Have dinned here for both lunch and dinner and am very impressed with the new menu, Waxys is really stepping things up, and staff are always friendly and attentive whenever i visit, and willing to go out of their way to ensure i enoy the experience. can’t wait to visit again.

i was taken here by my partner which is always good but after being seated i was asked for ID even though it was lunch time and we did not order any alcohol, the waitress got the manager and she came over an explained they are not meant to serve anyone without ID even though they didn’t ask my partner strange i think but because they weren’t busy they let us stay i think they definitely need a big sign on their door so u no before u go in.
On the bright side best bread and dips usually wherever u go they are the same but not here awesome !!!! love that garlic butter the rest of our food was good just a shame we didn’t really feel welcome for the visit

Me and two of my friends went at the start of the year. I went to the toilet after they seated us and came back to find that we had been kicked out, they ID my two friends and didn’t ID me, just told us to get out.

one word: disgusting.
sent my chicken wrap back as the chicken was dry and bland tasting. staff kept pestering me to get another one but i was in no mood. they should have got it right the first time, its a chicken wrap- not rocket science.

absolutely horrible experience … took my girlfriend there for valentines and my two friends who are also involved… we where treated like 5 year old children even though we varied from age of 18 to 21… they messed up our main meal and also messed up the dessert and then waitress came over and argued with us about what we ordered and that we said the wrong thing therefore she would not fix it and we had to pay full price…all over horrible..will never forget that valentines day

$10 lunch is a must do! Also keep a close eye on the specials board, had the hell steak lunch special for $15 last week and looking forward to the lasagne AGAIN this week. Definately a regular.

Great food , fast friendly service.Would defiantly recommend and will be going again!
