We had breakfast on 2nd January. We purely choose to eat here for the view so waited for a table outside. I ordered the eggs Benedict $17.90 which was fine, although small and basic. My partner ordered the large All day breakfast that on paper sounded huge and was priced at $22.90 sadly it was disappointing: The meal took a long time to come (3 different staff members asked if we’d been served in the time it took) when it arrived the eggs with broken and over cooked, the hash browns were missing corners, the toast was plain sandwich bread, there were 2 tiny strips of bacon – an overall disappointment. Our waitress did bring more bacon when it was pointed out and she agreed that it was usually better. The overall feeling was that the kitchen was ‘over it’ and didn’t care. Perhaps they had been slammed the previous days. But it was a let down. The All day breakfast was charged at the smaller breakfast price which we were happy with, and would have felt justified… however it is a disappointment that places in holiday locations feel justified to charge a 15% surcharge still – this is out dated, and negated any good will discount for the substandard experience. We will not be returning.

We had lunch at The Wharf restaurant on the 5th Jan. The place was relatively empty when we arrived but we were seated quickly at a comfortable table at the rear. We had young kids with us so didnt want to sit out front by the road.
The menu had a good selection but was quite pricey.
Most of the staff were quite rude & unattentive.
When our meals arrived they were tiny (considering the price ). The fries were greasy & so was the battered fish. The burger was small & nothing special. My kids did not even finish their meals!
This place could be sensational with more attentive staff, larger portions & more care taken in the kitchen.
Will definately not eat here again!

The food was amazing, I had a gourmet burger and my partner had hapuka. The burger was sensational and the hapuka looked divine. We sat looking over the water it was just beautiful. We are glad we booked because it was really busy when we arrived for 7pm. The service was fast and friendly, it’s safe to say we will be back

Gosh – came here with the place recommended but still not knowing what to expect as the restaurant was empty when we arrived. The service was amazing and the food divine – the slowly cooked braised lamb was to die for!!!! Would eat here again anytime and hope that when I die this is the standard of food I get in heaven (if I get to heaven…???)
Fantastic restaurant in a great location. Was almost put off by the seemingly pricy menu but don’t be!
We sat out on the beach at a table in the sun. They were busy but service was impeccable and food is absolutely delicious. I had the crab ravioli while my husband had the duck salad – yum! Then he had game fish while I had snapper for main – mine was definitely better but his was good too. Kid’s menu was great also – good value and delicious.
Highly recommended!
We dined again in January 2011 and weren’t disappointed. Probably not quite as good as the previous year. But still good food and excellent service. Love the table and chairs out by the water. We’ll be back next year!
