My daughter & I had a meal at the “Whatever Bar & Cafe” on Saturday 5th May which was absolutely beautiful. The service was fantastic the hosts & staff are amazing. We didn’t have to wait long for our meal & it was delicious. I had a Chicken Caesar salad & my daughter had the Chicken & cream cheese with veges & also a desert of the ice cream trio. They made us feel welcome & if ever in Hanmer again we would definately go back & highly recommend it to others. Thank you to the hosts & staff they are lovely people.

Brilliant meal and nice service. All 8 of us felt the same. Not one bad meal between us.

We made the mistake of having too many nibbles before we went out to dinner. This was really unfortunate as we would have liked to experience more of the menu at this place.
The service was really good, the owners friendly and inviting. I had the rump main with the salad. It was perfectly cooked to my request and liking, very tasty meat. Very good size portion.
My wife had the beef salad as a main. She enjoyed it very much and the serving size was very generous. Her steak strips were very tasty and tender. There was also plenty of it, some places you struggle to find the steak in the salad.
The only minor criticism was that there was a bit of an over abundance of the crispy noodles on the top of her beef salad. The dish is so nice and of such a size it could probably do without the noodles all together.
One thing that happened that was very good and is often neglected everywhere else, is that shortly after starting our meal we were asked if everything was satisfactory. Great service. Thanks

We’ve just had a lovely meal in this restaurant.
Meat cooked to perfection and a pork belly to die for.
Also amazing desserts I must say.
Nice place, good music, very nice decoration, friendly service, and a very complete wine list with good beers also.
The place was Saturday night full and everything turned up just great!

Had a meal here with 8 people last Saturday. Every meal was very poor. Different sized mains, frozen vegetables that arrived as mashed as the fresh ones, broccoli instead of brocolini, packet gravy on the lamb overcooked, spinach salami in the mash overcooked, pork belly monk fish swimming in juice.
The wine list and the decor were good.
