I came to this restaurant with my boyfriend. I loved the atmosphere and different setting. However, it would have been nice if there was music playing. I ordered the veal and it was so flavorsome! I loved the creamy sauce that went with it and the vegetables were fresh and tasty. The avocado in the dish added to the flavour and the veal was cooked to perfection. My boyfriend ordered the chicken risotto and he liked the sauce and was very happy with his meal. The tirimasu cake we had for desert was really yummy and creamy. We could not complain on the food and the service we got was excellent. The waitress was really sociable and helpful. Will definitely be back :)

Five of us went to Windross House Restaurant on Sunday night. The setting was very pretty. We were quickly seated, the host was warm yet professional. We were treated like honoured guests. We all had something different and no one was disappointed. All five of us enjoyed the meals. One of our group had been there previously and recommended it to us. I have recommended it to my work colleagues and will continue to tell people how good it is.

Perfect setting and amazing food – definitely not average as other people are saying! Worth the money, great service. Being a teenager I’m usually treated as low priority in some places but here I was treated the same as everyone. Last person here but was definitely not rushed
Really enjoyed the authentic Italian food.

Lovely setting and good service, but unfortunately the food is very average. Shrimps were below average, served with brown avocado and a shop brought thousand island dressing. The same sauces seemed to be used on different dishes, and all the mains were served with a plain garden salad and half boiled/ half roasted veges.
The tiramisu was lovely however.
We wont be going back.

We had seen this place set back from the beach a few times but never ventured in. Tried again on Sunday and after working out this was open (yes you could make it more obvious) we went for it.

The decor is a bit utilitarian but smart and pleasant. Menu is quite authentic Italian (not your usual Auckland hybrid). We went for steak and the veal. Both excellent and could not be faulted. perfectly cooked and delicious sauces.

make the place a little more Italian (fun and romantic) and you would have my five stars every time

Thank you for a lovely lunch

Took a friend that came all the way from Northshore just to try this restaurant out with me from my avid recommendations.

He is a foodie like me, so had high standards for fine cuisine.

Glad that this consistently good restaurant rose to meet his expectations!

Steak was flawless, cooked to perfection as were the vegetables. Tiramisu was great as usual!

He really enjoyed the whole dining experience there and was thoroughly impressed.

I strongly recommend this restaurant for people wanting to bring their loved ones to a place for a romantic dinner.

Free parking/good location just facing Cockle Bay Beach.

We dined here for mothers day. Table of 7. The staff are very friendly and service was excellent. The main meat on the dishes were very yummy! But all our dishes had the same PLAIN side, which was the let down. Consisting of Lettuce, Tomato, Carrot, Potatoes. Still a lovely night out.

We dined on a set menu and was very disappointed in the quality of food. Fish with lettuce slice tomato and baslamic vinegar – home made cheese cake definately not.
Atmosphere stunning staff attentive but at $67 a head wont be going back.

We went for dinner here to check it out for a possible wedding venue..

Lovely location, staff were friendly and provided excellent service but the food was VERY average – quite plain and something you could just throw together at home, no ‘wow’ factor.. such a shame we felt so let down as it would of been the perfect wedding location.

We held our daughter’s wedding at Windross. If you are considering holding a wedding there I am confident you will be more than happy with your choice.
The setting cannot be faulted – it is so Auckland with the beach and the trees as a backdrop.
We found the staff very obliging and professional in everything they did – in the background but there when you needed them and professionally turned out.
The cuisine was excellent and of sufficient quantity to cater for all appetites.
We all had a great day and would not hesitate to recommend it to all of our friends.

My husband and I recently celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary and chose to do so at Windross wishing to showcase our corner of East Auckland to our friends and relatives, most of whom have no idea why we have chosen to live in this area. Now they know! Windross’s location was appreciated by all. We had a great time and the excellent food, wine and service contributed to a wonderful afternoon. The staff were obliging and went the extra mile to accommodate our daughter’s wishes and directions from London as she could not be with us. All in all I would recommend this venue and in our case, the set lunch menu for any gathering such as ours.

Me and my husband went there a couple of weeks ago, the service is great and a lovely location, but the food was average. The pasta tasted like the stuff you buy in the supermarket.

We came across Windross House by accident, about four years ago, and have been back nearly every week since. The food is simply the best, the setting is romantic, and the owners know what good food and service mean. Go there. You deserve the best.
