Located within Crowne Plaza Christchurch, Yamagen was voted New Zealand’s best Japanese restaurant in 2007 and offers the best of Japanese dining prepared using the finest New Zealand produce and presented either traditionally or with the flair and dramatic appeal of teppan-yaki cooking.
Fridays offers the perfect chance to catch up with friends or impress those business associates with a teppan-yaki lunch. The set menu include a continuous selection of seafood (mussels, salmon and white fish), chicken and beef served straight from the teppan, with miso soup, salad, steamed rice and fruit and ice cream.
Teppan-yaki is a unique and delicious style of Japanese cooking. Our teppan chefs can cook up to 10 dishes at a time on the teppan grills. At times they serve well over 1000 dishes a week making it the most popular style of dining in Yamagen. The two teppan-yaki tables seat 24 people at each.
Traditional is the classical way to dine Japanese style and truly indulge in the unique cuisine of Japan. Our most popular dish on the traditional menu is our chilli chicken, which has been on the menu for 20 years!
Delicious food for any occasion. A traditional dish or a twist on the conventional with essence and flavour to tempt your taste buds. … read more »
