You’ll never guess who I sat next to the table of when I was eating my favourite meal in town the Smoked Fish Brandade at Zak’s Cafe in Seatoun the other week but Orlando Bloom! A good friend of mine has seen Evangeline Lilly from Lost dining there too. So if you want to maybe run into a Hollywood Star and have a chilled out yummy meal go to Zak’s it’s so worth the trip across town.

I heard a lot of hype about this place so i decided to take my wife out to lunch for our anniversary a few months back. I was confused to why it was talked up. The girl that served us seemed friendly but not professional . The menu was very boring and basically all fish, i am not a seafood fan. My wife ordered risotto which she said was ok but nothing to rave about. I choose the platter for a healthy option. It came with 5 pieces of oil drenched bread with barely any meat and about 2 tiny gerkins which seemed unbalanced for the amount of bread. The coffee was weak and not hot enough. We didn’t want to be rude by returning it especially when the older fellow (i’m assuming is the manager) was watching us the whole time. I felt rather uncomfortable by this. Didn’t get dessert as there was only two options.

Friendly and efficient service, nice ambience, great menu delivering a thoroughly enjoyable meal. We were in for brunch and there was some classic fare available, as well as dishes with a point of difference.
Recommend heartily!

We went to Zak’s for breakfast this morning, as we do almost every weekend, and had a delicious meal! The eggs are fantastic, as are all of the sides. Loved the new menu options and can’t wait to go back for lunch and dinner. The staff is always super friendly and the coffee is the best in town!

I must say Zak’s is one of my favourite places to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner! Service is always fab, staff remember you by name and the food is to die for. I always either go for the fish of the day or the avocado and tomato on turkish, with a side of bacon! The mint makes this dish! Oh and the steak sammie is also yummy! Of course served with the best fries!

A girls day out from Lower Hutt visiting Miramar and WetaWorkshop. Decor interesting with clean lines and simple elegance. Very polite and friendly service, interesting and tasty food with great presentation.

We travel across town from Khandallah to Zaks Cafe for brunch as often as possible. It’s worth the trip. The food is delicious, fresh and vibrant and the menu changes depending on what local produce is in season, so there’s always something new to try as well as my partners favourite – Smoked Fish Brandade. Such a treat to go to a cafe which now sets the standard of everywhere else we choose to eat.
