Zap 4 Esan Thai Cuisine completed their renovations and opened again on 9 Dec 2010, with a bigger and brighter fast serve restaurant. Now we can almost fit you all in at lunchtime! Thanks to the customers for their patience, it took 3 months not 2 to complete. We still cook the most authentic Thai food in Auckland – as close as anything you will find in Thailand. Our bigger brighter space is now also air-conditioned, to help out those of you who order your food “Thai-hot” and love the red glow it gives you. And we are still a good bet if you are heading to the Vector Arena for a concert, quick, satisfying and not expensive.

I brought my younger brother and his girlfriend…and I have to say, the food is really-really tasty.

Thanks to all the reviews from menu-mania. (Very well recommended)

Environment: Clean, Asian food court concept with modern influence. One of the best place to cater large group.

Service: Don’t expect one!..but the food is served quickly.

Food: Try anything and everything…! I tried the entree…yummy but I find it a little expensive.
A good $17.00 will give you a decent meal.

I have been there twice and never was disappointed. Great for both lunch and dinner.

I’ve been to this restaurant 3 times now. Overall, the best menu is pad thai! especially for people who loves spicy food, you need to mention to the staff that you want “very very hot”! And I was sweating all the way, but I like this kind of spicy, it’s good for a cold day. They charge extra $2 if you want Chicken&Prawn for the filling, but I suggest not to take this one because they only put a little prawn n chicken. Just use chicken as the main, and they will put plenty of them in your food.
Anyway, after everytime we eat at this place, we always feel thirsty the rest of the day, maybe because they use special ingredients that make us dehydrated.

I ordered chicken prawn pad thai, green curry, seafood tom yum soup from this place. The order should have come to $37. My partner went to pick it up and when he cam back home the pad thai had no prawns, I was overcharged $5 (bill came to $42), and on top of that there was a unordered side of vegetables added to the bill which we didnt even receive. The curry was too watery, tom yum soup lacks spice, pad thai had no ingredients except a few pieces of chicken(and no prawns!!!). Overall food tasted really bland, far cry from the zap thai I am used to two years ago, and they should re-consider that staff… I will never eat here again.

Great Thai! It’s just down from my work so handy for a quick easy Thai lunch although it does get horrendously busy from 12 on.

Pad Thai is always delicious and at $12 is very reasonably priced.

Like the condiment options although accidentally used the sugar as salt haha.

BEST THAI IN NEW ZEALAND!!

This is the best Thai I have ever had in my entire life and I eaten alot of Thai food in other countries and nothin even comes close to this.

Best prices, quick and efficient service. My absolute favourite dish is their Pad See Eiw. All their noodle dishes are fabulous and their Satay Gai as an entree!

I love the food, esp. the condiments like fish sauce with chilli. I’m a condiment lover, so I appreciate how they prepare the grounded fresh chilli with different sauces available for selection. I gave it four stars, instead of 5, because of the dining space. It is crowded during lunch time, and I think they will need to expand so customers can move freely. Overall, very good food and dining experience.

It has just been done up and it looks great.

Only $12.00 for a main and $1 for rice.

Its cheap but its great.

I became a royal customer since when they were still in the EAT ASIA food court.
But they really disappointed me over the last few visits. During X’mas lunch time. The girl who took my order, tough, flat face look, didn’t say hello or even give me a smile. Then she didn’t hear properly, ended up with “Hah?” and a impatient face. Then she put a wrong order, TOM ZAP SEAFOOD into TOM YAM SEAFOOD. What I got back after change was a bowl of soup with no seafood flavor. What they did was just replace the liquid, and the seafood became really chewy of being over boiled.
Now I am not their customer anymore…

There’s not a great deal of ambiance to this central Auckland Thai eatery, but if anything the clean and open-air decor allows the efficient service and delicious offerings to leap out.

My companions and I were hunting for a place close to the Vector to grab some quality eats before a show and Zap 4 Esan was the perfect stop. Well lit and with lots of tables spread handsomely throughout, the space itself was somewhat comfortably stark without feeling barren, if you know what I mean.

The posted menu didn’t have much detail, but the laminated ones available when we ordered elaborated enough for us to make some delicious choices. The Satay had a great kick, our Pad Tai was layers of soul-warming flavour, the traditional Chicken and Cashews had just the right amount of spice and crunch, while the fried money bags that made up the Toong Tong were a crunchy explosion of minced chicken, veggie goodness.

We would have preferred our entrees to come out before our mains, but since everything was within minutes of each other and was yummy as, there were no complaints as we grazed through our hearty meal and were on to our show within 30 minutes.

The staff was extremely welcoming and the amenities were crisp and tidy. When heading down to this part of Auckland again, we would be sure to make this easy and reliable joint a stop along the way.

I wasn’t ever a big fan of Thai food till we dropped past on the way home one night. We spent $17 including drinks on some intensely filling, amazingly delicious eats.

The service is very quick and always with a smile. I would highly recommend this place, especially for their Green Curry. Yum!

I Love this place.
I have been to many many Thai restaurants in Auckland but you cant get cheaper or better food than Zap.
They have the best Yellow Curry in Auckland no doubt.
The restaurant isn’t the flash-est but for what you pay its defiantly worth it. I go there for every occasion.

$10 for a main with 10x the chicken than any other restaurant you cannot go wrong!!

Ordered takeaways on a saturday night. There werent that many people there since its only 5:30pm. Ordered Pad Thai with prawn and Chicken Green Curry. Personally I think the pad thai is a little bit dry, but the green curry is excellent! Prices are quite reasonalbe.

This place is great. Though the atmosphere is not that great (pretty plain and stale), the prices are great for your budget and I fully recommend the Garee Gai for a cold winter’s night dining treat. I tell all my friends about it all the time. I’m hooked! Just remember to order rice with it so it fills you up to the brim :) Trust me, once you try it, you’ll be hooked!

Ordered a takeaway, the box came out half empty. Asked one of the staff if that seemed right. His reponse was that times are tough, either prices are going up or quantity decreased! Never going back again.

Spoke to my Manager and this is hardly how the conversation went. Most customers find our portions rather generous.

Eaten here twice now. Same price as the foodcourts, but a notch up both in terms of quality and quantity. My friends in the US would kill for a Thai place this good and cheap.
