Excellent food with a excellent price. its not a lux restaurant but great ambiance and best food in Tauranga by far. They seem to be very busy but the service is always smiling. The owner is in there and interested with you with a smile

We dined at Zeytins earlier in the month on a Thursday night and I have to say that our group (there were five of us) weren’t that impressed. The main complaint was that having ordered our drinks we then noticed we had been made to wait for at least more than an hour before I had to get up and say something about getting our meals served! After that the meals were served up in 5 mins flat but the food seemed almost micro-waved, was plain tasting and lacked flair, flavour or style – just really average food that anyone could have whipped up really… having tasted our food no one was interested in ordering desert (that would probably have disappointed as well) and only two of us ordered coffee whereby mine was extremely dark – I had to get up and request more froth in it and noticed how dismissive the staff member behind the counter was – like he just didn’t care or anything. Another thing that has to be mentioned was that even though it was a fairly quiet evening at Zeytins (not even half full) by the time I got up to ask if our meals were still been served up our group had observed the staff in the kitchen just standing around chatting not at all caring in the slightest that we were still waiting for our meals for more than an hour… basically we felt like we could have, ought to have had our dining experience somewhere else that night where we would have felt like we had spent our money on a much better, much more positive food experience!! Won’t be going back even though I have dined there over the last few years on and off… this experience has really put me off from ever returning to Zeytins on the Strand.

Rude! Rude! Rude!

I had been to Zeytin’s before and really enjoyed myself, so I was very disappointed by the service this time around. The waiter (who appeared to be the owner) was rude throughout and when he made a mistake refused to fix it.

I will not be returning, such a pity as on previous occasions their food was very enjoyable.

Just had lunch today at Zeytins with the family and absolutely loved it. We were waited on by a lovely lady who was attentive and recommended a lovely wine. We ordered trio dips and Turkish bread to start with and they were divine as well as Pizza for the teenagers and a chicken Elenkia that my husband loved and a hot hummus and lamb dish which I had and it was gorgeous.

It was a lovely afternoon so we decided to order two desserts – strawberry and white chocolate cheesecake which both my husband and daughter adored and a lovely chocolate cake with chocolate sauce to take away and sit by the water. The waitress was wonderful and suggested we take four metal dessert spoons with us to eat the dessert (which was a large serving of each) and bring the spoons back when finished.

I Can’t recommend Zeytins enough for flavour, atmosphere and hospitality and excellent pricing. Thank you for making our experience a lovely one at Zeytins. The kids can’t wait to come back and so do Mum and Dad.

Food was tasty and large servings however service without a smile seems to be the thing. Wait staff did not let us know needed to prepay and order at counter , in fact wait staff did not say much at all , appeared unfriendly and dismissive

Fishermans casserole was exceptional!!! Will be going back there again- very reasonable pricing for the amount of food you get! Rose was fruityand refreshing! Only downside was that you have to pay before you eat??

Great service and food.
I took my wife for birthday lunch. When they heard we wanted something of the dinner menu, they immediately offered the dinner menu also – and the fish kakvia was great.
The staff are exceptional with their courtesy and prompt service.

Zeytins is a great restaurant. As a local Ive seen many come and go but the attentive staff, the wonderful host and the unbelievable prices make Zeytins a true treasure of our town. Disregard the whining of the out of towners, try it, FYI, if you weren’t here in the 70′s at least, you will never be a local so your opinion doesnt count.

First time i went to Zeytins was for my girlfriends birthday,was very impressed with the food! I organised a cake & dropped it off earlier in the day & that was all ok with them
Went again couple of weeks ago & once again the food was great & nothing to complain about re the service!

A group booking was made two weeks prior and accepted. On the evening the service at Zeytins Tauranga was totally unacceptable with the Managers reason being some people had not ordered full meals and therefore he did not want them in the restaurant. The attitude of the Manager towards the group was totally unprofessional and unacceptable. Group ended up leaving in disgust. We will not be visiting Zeytins Tauranga again. Other people we have spoken with have received similar levels of poor service.

Cheap and cheerful and one of the best bargain options in the Tauranga area. Massive meals with simple, pleasant flavours and vegan/vegetarian options all for small change.

Highly recommended (as the everpresent crowds in this restaurant, and its Mount counterpart, will attest). Have been half a dozen times and always look forward to a meal here.

We went there to enjoy a beautiful day out of the office for lunch, unfortunately highly disappointed!!! We have gone to Zeytins in the mount and the food is always guaranteed to be delicious and fresh. We were in Tauranga thought we could do no wrong going to Zeytins. We both ordered chicken kebab & salad the chicken was so overcooked and dry. Lettuce was also old and brown had no sauce on the kebab as requested. Worst lunch ever, would never go back!

We always seem to enjoy our meals out at Zeytin Tauranga- consistently great food served quickly and efficiently. Wonderful meal choices in winter or summer, It may not be Michelin star worthy, but we keep coming back for a reason!

Had dinner there last night, and can highly recommend this restaurant to others. Our meals were served within 10 minutes of ordering, were absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly, helpful and unobtrusive.
The Spiced Lamb was to die for! My guests enjoyed their selections too, the Meatlovers Pizza and the Mixed Kebab. Huge meals too, very definitely value for money.
All in all a great night. Will be back, for sure.

when the mains came out they were not what we asked for. the waiter did not care and walked away. it only was solved when i had to speak to the manager. Bad service. Will not be back

You know you can get a well cooked, really good meal at a good price.

We ate at Zeytin’s on Fri 18 Sept 2009. The meal was delicious and great value for money. The restaurant was very busy but the service was still very good. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Often have lunch here, great for celiacs & gluten free persons.

Calamari salad was a delight to discover.

Very reasonably priced.

Excellent relaxed venue, really friendly helpful staff, courteous and thoughtful, great food, and plenty of it, excellent deserts also. Mentioned it on my radio Show at SolidGoldFM.

Pizzas to die for. Turkish delight and short blacks ..mmmmm!

Really tasty food – lots of flavour – and massive platesful, so good value for money too.
