Went here for lunch after buying a voucher from Daily Do which wasn’t worth it in the end.
The lunch menu was all pasta. Be prepared to wait for a long long time before your meal arrrives. Atmoshpere exceelent, service excellent. Had a main and a desert for $35, bit expensive and prob not worth it if you looking for something tastier.
Wouldn’t go there again, not because it’s terrible but its too expensive and I can get tastier food for cheap at other restaurants.
Also at the end when we went to pay our bill we had to wait for 10 minutes before the manager came from downstairs and she wasn’t friendly at all. No hello, hope you enjoyed your meal etc. Left the place not feeling good.

On a typical windy Wellington night, My family and I seeked a restaurant with class, atmosphere and most importantly GOOD FOOD!!! We found all three of these things at Zibibbo. We started off with the tapas for two and were immensely impressed with the range of starters. We went on to the woodfired pizzas, Once again we were impressed! The pizzas had a light, crispy base with an even spread of fresh tomato sauce and a sprinkling of delicous, flavoursome basil. It took a LOT of thinking to figure out what to get on the dessert menu, Everything looked so good! But in the end we decided on the dessert tapas, AMAZING!! Im not going to say what they were, you are going to have to find out! We agree that this is a splurge of a special occassion because its not cheap but it is so worth it! We are definately coming back for more!

This place is amazing. I love it. Probably the best best restaurant I’ve been to in Wellington. Love the platter for two. Service was great!
On a wet windy Monday night it was tempting to order room service, but we braved the weather to eat at Zibibbo. The restaurant was empty when we arrived (but began filling up quickly) and we settled in whilst the waitress told us the specials and brought drinks. Wine by the glass was pretty pricey, even for wellington.
We skipped entrees and went straight for the pizza. The potato and rosemary pizza was Divine. It was thin, not stodgy and I could actually taste the herb and tomato’s. My partner had the spicy Italian sausage pizza, which he said was average and not very spicy at all.
The restaurant was almost full by now and we were wondering what was so good about this place, considering the weather and that it was Monday. The couples either side of us had ordered the tapas starter which was presented very well and made me jealous!
Anyway I’d spied creme brulee for dessert and it was just as it should be, crisp on top with a dreamy creamy base. However it was spoilt by having stewed fejoa on the bottom which was a bit like having pickle with custard. Ick! It really didn’t need the fruit.
When we went to pay we asked if they were always that busy and found out it was the last night of the entertainment card offer, hence the crowds.

Great experience. From pre dinner Liaison through to actual meal in private dining room. They coped with the last minute change of numbers without missing a beat. Service was discreet but attentive, and food very good – risotto was top notch. Thoroughly recommend.

I’ve dined at Zibibbo four or five times now and my conclusion is that, on the food front, it can be a bit hit and miss. I’ve had some great meals and I’ve had some average ones.
There was four of us on this visit. Our English waitress was attentive and delightful and a real pleasure to interact with.
Mains were mixed with one of our friends and I having the pork special which was delicious. Our other friend had the lamb which she said was great. Unfortunately my husbands chicken was pretty plain and, in combination with a very bland white bean cassoulet, lacked any depth and flavour.
Onto dessert. Our friends ordered the dessert tapas which caused huge amounts of food envy when it was laid in front of them. My husband had the panacotta which was nice, but nothing to write home about. I, unfortunately, allowed myself to be swayed away from the creme brulee by our waitress who recommended the special – a peach and apple crumble.
The crumble topping hadn’t been cooked enough and basically tasted like you were eating raw butter and sugar. It hadn’t been warmed through well and the fruit, while warm enough at the edges progressed to being cold in the middle. The peaches weren’t ripe and so were crunchy and tasteless. It it wasn’t for the fact that we were with friends who were visiting from Australia, I would have sent it back. The one redeeming feature was the gingerbread ice cream which was delicious.
Still mad at myself for not going with the creme brulee the bill stung at $250+ but I’m glad it was I that got the dud dessert and not one of our friends

This was our second visit to Zibibbo – we loved it the first time and weren’t disappointed on our return.
We dined on a busy Saturday night, which made for a great atmosphere.
The waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. At one point we were told there would be a little wait for our mains and were offered some complimentary breads and olives while we waited.
This was a nice touch, but as it turned out unnecessary, as the mains arrived well within a reasonable time frame.
Favourite part of Zibibbo dining experience for me is the creative flair they add to the presentation of the dishes (definitively recommend the desert tapa).
An entirely satisfying meal and experience that i’d thoroughly recommend.

I have to wonder if ownership of this restaurant has changed recently as the food and service used to be exceptional. Sadly last week we had a very disappointing experience. The staff who greeted us in the bar were frosty and just our presence alone seemed an enormous inconvienience for them let alone any requests for a pre dinner drink.
Thankfully our waiter was charming, well informed and friendly which made up for the average food.

Zibibbo’s is one of the best Restaurants in Wellies! I’ve been here a number of times and enjoyed every single meal! I once had Paua Tortellini, it was absolutely gorgeous!! Prices are average to high. Wouldn’t recommend dining with children. A couple of times we’ve come across rude wait staff. But all in all, this place is pretty good.
Not sure which Zibibbo some of the other people on this site have been to but Zibibbo is tops for us.
The legendary Tapas board with Nine different items is a must to kick the night off. It is a busy place and the service staff have a real buzz about them with great knowledge on the food and wine. One of the hightlights in this place is the big open kitchen its like theatre watching them cook up a storm each time we have been there.
Reccomend above some other Restaurants in town who charge nearly twice the price

Excellent wood fired pizzas and other food is good too. Nice decor and atmosphere (casual smart). Service can be slow.

Did you eat at this restaurant? Have an opinion to share?

Entrees were delish, I had smoked salmon with prawn fritter and partner had the risotto. Both were delicious with balanced flavours.
Mains were the rotisserie chicken with capsicum sauce and scotch fillet. Chicken was tasty and the Artichoke couscous divine, but the partners steak was slighty undercooked (we asked for med rare) and it was quite fatty for a scotch fillet.
Dessert was by far the best course. Partner had chocolate cherry mousse which was a beautiful balance of flavours and not too rich and I had the ice cream/sorbets. Ginger and pistachio ice creams and green apple and wildberry sorbets beautifully presented in two tulle cones held up by a wire contraption. The piece of crunchie that came with it was nice too. Beautiful clean flavours and def a great ‘light’ way to end the night.
Unfortunately the service left a little to be desired. For a “Michelin” starred restaurant I expected a little more attention but unfortunately had to wave down waiter to order, then for more wine, then for a dessert menu. Waiting times were just a little too long.
Overall. I probably wont return to Zibibbo which is a shame because I thought it would be better the second time round. Although the food wasnt ‘bad’ when I dine out at those prices I want the whole experience including food, wine and good service. Thats what customer service is to me.
