Went to the Speights Alehouse Ashburton last night on the way home from a funeral en route to Christchurch. Had a two year old with who was also tired. Received our meals after 45 mins, amazing considering most of us ordered steak (and on a Wednesday night!!). I asked for veges instead of salad with my steak and it came out with salad. Waitress apologized and gave the meal anyways saying the veges were on the way out. She came and confirmed this again after the meals were all out. After about 30 mins, when she was clearing our plates there was still no sign of the veges. She asked if i still wanted them, at 8.30 at night with more travelling to go I didn’t. We also did no receive the “free ice block” with the kids meal. Upon paying for the meal, received no discount for part of my meal not even turning up! The lady at the till said “oh you should have told us they didn’t come out!” Safe to say after a gristly steak and no veges, and the staff not even caring that they served a meal I didn’t order, I will not be returning. If they can’t handle a Wednesday night I would hate to see what it’s like on a busy weekend night. Not impressed at all.
