20/06/2013Very good dining experience for a group of12. Had a very warm welcome and waiting staff assigned was very attentive and patient. Food was very good and wait time between entree and main was just right. Thoroughly enjoyed the weeknight dining and will go back again.

19/06/2013Food was average, too expensive for what it was though. Service was bad, staff were rude, especially the person taking the payments at the front of the restaurant.

19/06/2013Fine burgers but staff always come across that they are only working until they get their big film break. Arrogant attitudes taint otherwise nice burgers.

19/06/2013Really expensive. The steak is $24! Go to a steak house or anywhere else for better value and service. Decor is dated and we received no service when seated. I would avoid this place if you can avoid it at all.

19/06/2013I visited on a miserably, cold and wet June Sunday afternoon. Really lovely Sunday roast – beef with all the trimmings (great Yorkshire pudding) and at just under $20 not bad value, but the portion is not big but a good portion size for a lunch. The food is always beautifully presented. I haven’t eaten anything here in a long time but in the past I have found it all good. I find the drinks too expensive, I know it’s a specialised brew bar but the other drinks such as wine, cider and juice are over-priced. They don’t have an espresso machine so it’s $4.50 for a filter coffee, to be fair lovely coffee but not worthy of latte prices! I highly recommend the Sunday roast and the beer.

19/06/2013I have visited Bona Pizza twice. The first time was for a friends birthday last month. There were 15 of us and we all thought the food was amazing and were amazed that all of our dishes came out at the same time. I had the lasagna which was stunning. I went last night with my boyfriend and had another amazing experience. My boyfriend even said that it was the best pizza he has ever eaten. I will definitely be going back!

19/06/2013The food at the banana leaf is fantastic, always hot because its made on request. it is very reasonably priced, and the portions sizes are big. its hard to pick a favourite meal from the banana leaf but i would say that the chicken Laska its to die for. i have sampled many chicken Laska’s but this is the tastiest i have ever tasted. The owner should bottle his recipe and sell it, he would make a fortune. or even make a cookbook, i would defiantly buy a copy.
the guy on the counter is the owner. a hard working man, i don’t think he ever has a day off. he is a lovely guy, for those that think he is rude try talking to the bloke your opinions will change.
keep up the great work Banana leaf and let me know when the cookbook goes on sale

19/06/2013Yesterday I used my deal voucher $150 with 2 of my friends, it was nice service and good food, actually I wasn’t expecting that good because I only spent $70. I had Paella for single person, my friend had scotch fillet and my other friend had Grilled scallops. We liked the taste of the food, nobody complained except grilled scallops a bit dry but it wasn’t a big deal. We also ordered bottle of house sav.blanc I think it was from Chile or Spain , don’t remember well, taste was ok. At the end we ordered homemade baklava and lemon tart for share, Baklava was really good, Lemon tart was ok. We enjoyed our dinner and need to say sorry to cashier guy for keep asking how much left from the voucher, I do recommend this restaurant.

19/06/2013Was absolutely wonderful, with $10 lunch menu a very reasonable price. Some of the best butter chicken I have had and others that had other meals said theirs was delicious also. The service was also great, have been back already and will do so again in the future! Very reasonable yet delicious meal, thanks Indian Pepper.

19/06/2013Escaped from the Mall for some lunch – the service was a bit disorganised with multiple people offering us drinks and then multiple people offering us food – it wasnt that busy but there didnt seem to be much communication between staff Went for the lunch special taco’s – tasty, light and healthy – definitely a good alternative to the SP Food Court

19/06/2013Stumbled across this place yesterday – escaping the rain. I was particularly cold and miserable so I was in the mood for a Hot Chocolate. The young lady who served me was smiley and chatty – this place has a whole menu of Hot Chocolates so I asked for some suggestions and I settled on a Dark Hot Chocolate. You get to chose a chocolate here also so I picked a Dark Truffle to go with the Hot Chocolate. The decor is bright and warm with seats and some long leather benches – the leather seats at the back looked more inviting as I could watch the rest of the what was happening in the mall. My Dark Hot Chocolate arrived in a glass – it looked very rich and tasted quite strong – its definitely not a drink to be rushed – but I savoured every last drop – rich creamy dark chocolate – just the warm-up I needed on a wet Auckland afternoon

19/06/2013Dropped in for bacon and eggs a few time, and they were good, as was the coffee. I recently stopped by for a chicken pie and it honestly the best I’ve ever had, so I’m off to try more of their cabinet food next time. Topped off with super-friendly service. I thoroughly recommend these folk.

19/06/2013My partner and I decided to try The Grill on the recommendation of his older brother who dines there regularly with clients, and we were blown away! We opted for the set menu offered for those seated before 6.30pm and rang ahead to make a reservation, however we got stuck in traffic on the way and did not arrive until 6.50pm after desperately attempting to navigate the skycity parking. Staff were completely unphased and directed us to our table with the assurance that the set menu was still available. We decided on the BEAUTIFUL slow cooked lamb shank, amazing duck fat chips and a salad, followed by the creme caramel for dessert. This is potentially one of the best meals I have had in my life. The wait staff and front of house were friendly, courteous, highly knowledgeable (particularly about the wine list), and made us feel very welcome indeed. To top it all off, the front of house also explained that we would receive a hefty discount for skycity parking using the barcode printed on the bill, AMAZING! It is these small efforts made to go the extra mile for the customer that make The Grill a truly 5 star experience. Amazing value for money and a wonderful atmosphere for a romantic pre-opera dinner for two. If you have not already tried The Grill, then it is a MUST the next time you are looking for a dinner venue in Auckland central. 5+ stars!!

18/06/2013I can’t believe this restaurant has so many rave reviews. 2 of dined there last Sunday night. It was a reasonable quiet night in the restaurant. The staff were friendly and that is why I have given it 2 stars. The waitress did scrape all the scraps onto onto 1 plate at the table. Yuck. Even my Mum would have told me off for doing that….definitely needs some training there. The dishes we ordered be pretty average at best. Jerk wings were uninspired but edible. The pulled pork was the best of the nights fare but tasted of raw cumin. For mains my husband the other chicken dish. It sounded good on the menu but was plain boring and dry. Nothing was seasoned. We had to ask for salt and limes just to make things have some flavour. The worst dish, and totally inedible, was the crab and prawn dish. It tasted of bleach and cream and nothing else. Even with liberal sprinklings of lime and salt it still couldn’t be saved. I did mention it to the waitress and the guy at the check-out. Even though I didn’t eat it, we weren’t offered any reduction on the bill. Pretty poor effort. Decor is nice, concept is very good but I have to give it an “F” for execution.

18/06/2013Although the drinks we ordered were delightful, it was the attitude of who we presume was the owner, that made our chocolate boutique experience a disappointment. Perhaps if the whole staff looked a little more happy to be there and were slightly more welcoming to their customers, we would make a trip back. As an aside, the steamed puds resembled the microwaved goods that our old mate aunt betty sells in your local supermarket

18/06/2013We were introduced to this restaurant by a very enthusiastic friend who wouldn’t shut up about how amazing the pork and coriander dumplings, bok Choy and crispy pork were. For the first time ever he was right they were great. We have since been back as a group again and much to his annoyance tried a few different dishes. The lemon chicken is BETTER than the already good pork and we haven’t even scratched the surface. On our next visit I think we can better the pork and coriander dumplings because everything is amazing. See you next time.

18/06/201318 June 2013 Linda N. Went recently for the first time and can not wait to go back. The food was outstanding and the best wait staff we have ever experienced in New Zealand. Risotto balls are amazing as were the mains and the deserts were exceptional as well. Can’t wait to take friends to this amazing eating experience.

18/06/2013Worst Fish and Chips I have ever had, the list of things we don’t have is longer than the list of things they do….Drinks fridges empty, no change what so ever ….if the receivers are not in within the month I would be astounded!
