Always liked the look of this place and my husband and I decided to treat ourselves to breakfast one morning before work. Arrived and it was very busy (party of around 15 in). When querying how long we would have to wait we were told 15 mins, as that seemed reasonable we put in our order, nothing taxing just an everyday cooked breakfast and omelette. After 25 mins we asked how long our food would be and told they would start it within the next 5 mins. With a poor excuse for an apology we were told we could just wait or get our money back and leave with the promise of free coffee on our return some other time. Very blabby, don’t really care manner. So we chose the latter option, however, we will not be returning for our free coffee. I would highly recommend walking a few metres down the road and go to somewhere in Vulcan Lane – always had good customer service, prompt delivery of food and good quality for money.

I would only have nice things to say about this place. My partner and I have been here a few times for breakfast and for dinner. Great barrista! I would have to say that the coffees and the hot chocolates are one of the best that we have had! The breakfast meals and dinner mains are decent servings! The creamy mushroom is absolutely beautiful, having had it in the big breakfast and on my steak dinner main. I had the bread and butter pudding, hot out of the oven and it was great on a chilly winter night! It may have been better with hot custard instead of ice-cream in the winter time? The service had always been excellent, and their little daughter is very friendly and extremely cute. I would come back with friends and family, as the prices are very reasonable for the amount of food that you get. =)

Came here for lunch with my children – have been several times and have never been disappointed. Great friendly service, perfect menu – something for everyone, and I am super fussy about my pino gris’, there was a glass to keep me happy! there was a stuff up with my bill (I hadn’t had 2 bottles of wine by myself!) however it was easily rectified….all good. Will be back

Mecca is my ultimate meeting place I go there on a regular basis. I meet friends and I also have business meetings there quiet often. Great location, good food and the service is good. Although, the staff turnover is high, they friendly and they look after you. There is one disappointing thing lately what makes me not wanting to go back is a person a manager or somewhat walking around the place, his rather rude and not helpful at all. I just had a complaint from one of my clients who went to Mecca after one of our meeting as I recommended the place and he had a same disappoint experience with the arrogant manager. Unprofessional and I don’t think he knows what his duty is as his just walking around trying to look busy but he doesn’t really find his place. Annoying and makes you feel uncomfortable.

Awesome food at this newly discovered little eatery downtown Auckland. Located in Vero building on Shortland Street. You can’t get better value for money than at Pavillion. I mean $12.90 for a main is just super value especially in Auckland. Keep it up you guys.

If you looking for a lovely warm atmosphere, excellent service and reasonably priced lunches – this is the place to go to. Been there for four occasions and 100% each time The freshness of the meals, prepared in front of you- served with much attention to detail- makes it really a place to stop for a relaxed and inviting munch.

This was our first visit, and the highlight was undoubtedly the parmesan encrusted lamb as our mains. Outstanding! Generous servings and perfectly cooked. We’d asked about fish of the day when we booked in the afternoon. “it hasnt been decided” we were told. On arrival we were told “weve run out of fish of the day.” Curious… Even tho there is a gish shop a couple of doors away. Room for improvement: the cutlery is provided tighly wrapped in a small paper serviette. If you manage to unwrap yours without dropping them, you’ve done well. I didn’t. Then try to cover your lap with the serviette…The entree bread selection was a low point. While generous, the bread Had been toasted and buttered. Maybe we misread the menu, but we are used to fresh breads to dip into the oil, pesto, dip etc. We were not asked about wine. Not a good look: the folded newspaper stuck under a table leg to stop the wobble. With a few tweaks this eatery could easily be four star. I’ll be checking before I return….

I held a baby shower for a dear friend of mine and in total there was 5 of us who enjoyed the food! the company of management and staff who helped us throughout the night to make it an enjoyable one for the mother-to-be, myself and friends. Very nice food although we only had the entrees and dessert we were all very full 
delicious! would definitely RECOMMEND! & definitely be back!!

Nice place to chill out for a wee coffee and pie or muffin break. Nothing great to shout about but am happy with the coffee anyway. Muffin was a bit hard though.

Went to Covo to grab a quick bite late on a Friday night and it wasn’t crowded thanfully. The waitress was warm and friendly. Our orders arrived fairly quickly. Had the canneloni with spinach and ricotta, it tasted nice and the portion size was just right for me. The desserts menu looked great. Will definitely go back and try a 3-course meal at Covo.

The place is nice but lacks charm; staff friendly and helpful. But: the outside needs heaters; newspapers are not to be found (we were told: only one available); decor boring and sterile In essence, Jones tries a lot but cannot reach the A-plus heights of the major three places in Auckland: Frasers (Mt Eden), Urban Café (Newmarket) and The Fridge (Kingsland)

Jafa is not the same as it was before – happy, homely and friendly atmosphere….I believe there was a drastic change in ownership/management? Food was lukewarm, coffees were ok and pies are not home-made anymore and still charging $7.50? Shame to see an award winning cafe drop so much in rating in such a short time.

Had a quick bite to eat and a drink here after a film with a group of friends. I could not be happier: nice ambiance, good prompt service, and great food. Everybody left happy and satisfied. It is real pity that there a not more places like this in Auckland. I cannot recommend highly enough. Also the motorcycles are freaking awesome!

We have been there a couple of times ordered a meal the second time and was very disappointed as I thought the BLT was very average it was like they got a piece of lettuce bacon and tomato an slapped together like I was making a quick sandwich at my home so having to pay $20 for this you would expect heaps better

The open hog sandwich and the lasagne we chose yesterday were cooked to perfection. The meals arrived quickly and were so tasty. Generous portions, too. Next time we will try and find room for some of the very tempting desserts, all made on the premises. The staff were great, the prices were very reasonable and we went away happy!

Best to avoid this place like a disease on the weekends. The food is decent but the waitering staff are deplorable. Our family of 5 arrived for breakfast and were ask to be seated at a table that was just being cleared. The waitress took the dishes away but then forgot that she needed to clean/wipe it up. NO menus were brought to the table so my wife went up to the counter to ask whether the table could be given a wiped and the barista said he would send someone and was told to help herself to the menus. 5 minutes pass and STILL NO staff came to clean the table. Then the same waitress who cleared the table arrived to take our orders. I requested that the table be cleaned but because she was probably new and unfamiliar with her duties and language seem to be an issue, she went away and another waitress turned up to wipe the table with a dry paper napkin. This was definitely a half hearted effort on her part. She then progressed to take our order on the paper coaster which normally lines the coffee cups. The food arrived promptly with even what seemed to be kitchen staff serving food. But as the cafe got busier my wife’s order of a Mocha came out as a “flat-white”. Then another hot beverage arrived and the confusion started about what had been served. By this stage, a male who I presume is the owner arrived and was helping with service. I brought to his attention that my wife’s drink was incorrect which he took away but NEVER REPLACED. Even more disappointing, I discovered a fairly large coffee stain on my coat that was hanging behind my seat when i got home. Obviously, spilled by the staff as they were serving other tables. Unfortunately, the cafe cannot cope with a busy Sunday morning. The barista tries to run the floor and then gets the orders wrong, the staff obviously aren’t trained adequately. At least our children enjoyed their meals but then cooking a breakfast menu is not exactly “rocket-science”

I have been coming here for at least 3 years and have had great service every time. The prices may be a little higher than other cafes in the area but it’s worth paying a little extra for the quality of the food. Portions sizes are good and the meals are always nicely presented and delicious. Great coffee too.
