26/05/2012As many of the other reviews have mentioned, the manger is very unpleasant and lacks any customer service skills, I am not quite sure why she has been there for so many years!!! My family and I have actually nick-named her dragon lady as she is always extremely rude and once watch my family and I eat for most of the meal, which made it very awkward to say the least… I would not return as I do, if it was not for the fact that the food is very good, especially their yum cha dumplings! The parking can be a bit annoying sometimes though, due to its location.

26/05/2012Quite disappointing as the yum char food is really quite good but the service is definitely lacking!!! Have been here 3 times, and have been over charged 2 out of those 3 times! The first time, I didn’t say anything and paid, but the second time I corrected him and the manager just replied “I guess you and I have different ideas”…umm what??? So ALWAYS calculate what you order before going to the counter or you will get ripped off! (-) Horrible manager who tries to overcharge you almost every time!!! And then pretends that you are wrong when you correct him. (-) Some of the waiting staff do not know any English which can be hard to order if you do not have a Chinese person in your dining party. (-) On the more pricey side for Yum Cha food. (+) The waiting staff do seem to be quite polite and helpful (+) Good food, my favourite is the Durian mochi- but be warned it is not for everyone!!!

25/05/2012I would highly recommend the yum char experience here! The staff are very friendly and the food is amazing! I went with a group from work for lunch and everyone had a really great time
I’ve been for dinner before as well which is great. Our favourite dish was the peking duck, if you haven’t had it you haven’t lived! It is that good!

23/05/2012Fantastic food!We just bought a grab one voucher and thought we would try once. But we are very certain that we will always go there. They use very fresh vegetable. You can feel the freshness. It’s totally different to a typical Chinese takeaway. The food is just BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!Very friendly staff and a great service.

23/05/2012Went there for a grabone deal I bought last night, its just down the road from Kingsland next to Morningside railway station. Being a Kingslander I never knew it was there but it is new and I do drive around in a daze.
Food was surprising good quality, at first I thought it may be like one of those noodle fanchises but no fear, the food is light years ahead of those.
I like curries especially at this cold time of year, I never had one like it. The beef was melt in your mouth and the portion size was literally double what you get elsewhere and for only $13. We ordered 1 mussaman curry and 2 rice and it fed both of us along with a serving of satay skewers which were also large. None of this 2-3 thin pieces of flattened out chicken but the actual whole tenderloin.
An added bonus is that we like our food very hot and virtually all restaurants never make it hot enough for us. The chef actually showed us how much chili she was going to put in and that was 2 heaped teaspoons of fresh cut chili which for the very first time ever was at the right level of spiciness that my wife and I love. No having to add extra at home. Thanks for that
A much needed addition to the Kingsland area in terms of Asian takeaways and at fantastic prices. Go !!!

21/05/2012I am rating it as Woohoo as for the price and what’s been laid you cannot fault it It is not silver service and not fine dining but price is also so unbelievable and you cannot fault the ambiance – siting is perfect quiet good restaurant environment/sitting for cafe price and in CBD location – what more can we ask for. New World now the block for wine. They are fully licenced but if you ask nicely might be able to byo for a Small corkerage Been there numerous time for lunch and have taken large corporate groups for special occassions – price charged is so unbelievable that adding a few special entre items (ie crab claw) to make the meal special is still soooo cheap – plus BYO all good Been there for dinner too with Asian Hong Kong Chinese guest and again it is sooo reasonable and OK would not rave too much but it is still soo good and passable against other fully licensed restaurant charging 3 x times the price

18/05/2012Very disappointed! Bought a 2 voucher deal from grabone for 2 course whole peking duck, crab an corn soup, fried wonton and 2 glasses of wine. The duck skin was cold and not crispy served in a plate with A look half duck only cut in smal thin pieces and layed down in a plate. The pancake was also cold served in small plate and not more than 10 pieces. Fried wonton meat was not visible because it was too small. The second course was sprouts with 2 small pcs of duck meat. This is not worth $90.80 as they claiming.

17/05/2012Had dinner here recently after hearing it was good, and got a few dishes to share as a group. The chicken yakitori we were served was raw, not just slightly undercooked but bloody. We also had something like a beef skewer dish and this was also as rare as I could have imagined. The staff hadn’t asked us if this was our preference, though I realise some people do like undercooked beef. Honestly I don’t know that much about Japanese cuisine but perhaps that was the correct way to serve it. The raw chicken was still very upsetting though. The meal sizes were small and we were so put off we left still hungry, though we were still charged for the chicken. The staff were unhelpful and we waited about a half hour before our order was taken, though the waiter told us he’d be “back in just a minute” and was chatting with other staff.

08/05/2012Had dinner with a friend on a Monday night. Was considerably quiet but service was still poor and virtually non-existent. Had to wait 3 minutes to be seated. Decor was bland but clean. Prices were exorbitant and portion was small. Given this, hardly surprising it was quiet while cafes nearby were more bustling. Will not come back again, and do not recommend others to be put through this torture. There are a handful of other Japanese eateries nearby which offer better value for money, more authentic Japanese food and much more appealing ambience.

06/05/2012Just returned from having lunch at Live Fish – excellent food with generous servings. We went with a GrabOne voucher just to see what it was like and had a great experience and will definitely return. Service very good and they had no problem accommodating one of our party who cannot eat onion. Very good presentation of food – our only problem was having difficulty finding the restaurant, maybe they could improved their signage

05/05/2012We loved the freshness of the veges, and the great flavours. We ordered the “10 Vege Delight & Cashews” for $13.50 … which was honestly SO delicious – I’ve never seen my preschooler eat so many different veges in 1 sitting! We also had the Pad Thai, which was absolutely gorgeous too. The two of us perched on the bar-leaner style table, and watched the world go by as the sun set. We had the meals in takeaway bowls which we took home for ‘daddy’ to finish off, as we were so full we couldn’t finish the big portions. The place was bright, fresh and clean. Staff were helpful and food was pretty quick. Parking was right infront of the shop, so really easy. Thumbs up to this place.

02/05/2012Delicious food. Inexpensive. Friendly guys. I like the simple menu. My Indian friend showed me the place and now he has left the country I still go there and tell all my friends about it. Its basically flavoured chicken to me but they do have other flavours but I just get the same thing everytime I go there! My girlfriend didnt like it because of lack of veges but I said if she wants veges I can cook them at home and we can mix it. I always eat too much and never want to eat at a fastfood restaurant again. It always takes me to space mountain.

28/04/2012Three stars for the food but one star for the service, this average out to a 2 star rating. The place is packed with people, and they have plenty of staff running around but the time we wait for service is still too long. Dim sums came out slowly, and all they do was taking the same dim sums for a ride rather than offering fresh dim sums. The worst thing was the manager, he came to us and said “have you finished?”, before we could answer he turned around and asked his staff to clear our table. The problem is we were still waiting on the desserts we ordered (because they ran out when the trolley came around). The waiters were so quick that half our bowls and plates were cleared off the table before we can react. I became so pissed that I demanded the waiters to bring us some new cutleries and plates so that we can finish our meal. It makes you ask yourself why you would pay that much money for such a poor experience.

28/04/2012This restaurant is known for its peking duck but I find their duck pretty average and too expensive. There are a number of chinese restaurant that serve better peking duck and charge nearly half that price. The environment and service was good though. The other dishes were above average though.
