It was ok. Decor was nice and service was brilliant but it took about 40 minutes for our food to arrive, which I think is a touch too long. I ordered the Steak Sizzler and my friend ordered the same however hers was extremely rare even though we had both asked for a medium rare to well done steak. The Sizzling Brownie was impressive though. I think Kobe Sizzlers deserves a rating of about 2.85 but I think it would be unfair to give it a 2 so that is why I rounded up to 3.

I have been to Mexico twice now and the first time there were a few hiccups but the second time was amazing! We had a big group and managed to get a table (they do take bookings for 10-16 people but you have to get the set menu). The set menu at $30 was a bargain as there was SO much food! We also got to sample all the favourites (ceviche, fried chicken, soft tacos) without having to make any decisions. The food was fantastic, service was great, with a very cool atmosphere. I’m an avid Mexican fan and this is now my favourite Mexican restaurant in Auckland. Would definitely recommend for a good value, fun night out.

Awesome food at this newly discovered little eatery downtown Auckland. Located in Vero building on Shortland Street. You can’t get better value for money than at Pavillion. I mean $12.90 for a main is just super value especially in Auckland. Keep it up you guys.

Mexico is a breath of fresh air in the Auckland City restaurant scene. The place is fun, it’s loud, it’s squishy… chances are, you will be at a table with other guests, but that’s all part of its charm and the atmosphere that it is so loved for. The walls are a tribute to all things Mexican, crammed with photos, postcards, masks (the masks are a little creepy) and fantastic art… even the ladies bathroom is like walking into a shrine for Frida Khalo. The food is not your typical ‘Americanised Mexican’, instead of an abundance of cheese and sour cream, the menu revolves around jalapenos, lime and coriander. And it’s oh so cheap! There aren’t many places in town where you can feel (a little too) full after an $11 meal. It amazes me that Mexico can have such a terrible rating on this website and yet every time I go, the place is packed with people who adore it. Make sure you go in there with an open mind, chances are you will have to wait for a table… but it’ll be worth the wait!

This place is fantastic! BUT – go with the following in mind: Because it’s so popular you need to get there either early (ie 6pm) or later (ie 8pm onwards) if you don’t want to wait in a queue (and yes this is weekdays too). I’ve done my fair share of travelling to the US and Mexico – this is authentic Mexican. It’s very good food, reasonably priced, very tasty, the place is busy and the atmosphere is manic – just like Mexico. This place is my favourite Mexican in Auckland city! It’s a refreshing addition to the city’s restaurant scene. Go with the right expectations and you won’t be disappointed!

Always a pleasure. Service is prompt and friendly, and the food is reliable and delicious. And they know how to make a coffee.

Had a great time there last night…went with a group of 8 and shared a wide range of dishes which were all exceptional….fresh, vibrant and diverse. Really enjoyed the staff who were attentive, relaxed and really keen to make sure we had a good time. The venue itself is superb – feels really authentic. Hadn’t been to Elliot Stables before, but will definately be back.

I hate writing a bad review when the staff are actually friendly people – makes me feel terrible – so I’ll start with the two positives: The staff were friendly and attentive AND the location is lovely. Unfortunately that is where it all stops for me. I am a lover of fresh, flavourful food that pushes boundaries and surprises me… not everywhere has to ‘blow me away’ completely but with the likes of the latest Auckland restaurants that have come out of nowhere and found spots in the Top 50 lists, places like Limon just fail epically when it comes to quality… We bought the ‘all you can eat tapas’ voucher recently advertised, and although the price wasn’t that steep the food was well below average. Absolutely every plate that came out tasted like it was made days before then simply warmed up and literally all looked like less-than-supermarket-quality… The meatballs were dry and flavourless with a tasteless yellow sauce on them – looked like they were bought at a supermarket??? no seasoning or herbs or ANYTHING in them, the bread with hummus had a dry crust on it suggesting it had been sitting for ages, the Spanish tomato bread was soggy (obviously not made fresh as the tomato had been sitting on it for ages to make it that soggy), the prunes wrapped in Serrano ham were just a prune with an almond left whole inside (I mean someone I know makes AMAZING bacon wrapped prunes at home that have tenbillion times more flavour than these?!?!), the stuffed peppers were supposed to be stuffed with feta but it was tasteless and on pulling some of the feta out it was yellow and old, compared to the feta that came with the olives, the chicken drumsticks were dry and covered in what appeared to be shop bought sweet thai chilli sauce. The only good parts with the domaldes (although still required much more seasoning), the olives and the squid rings. I would seriously never go back here. I’m sorely disappointed especially given the staff were friendly. Sorry Limon :( perhaps you need to take some inspiration from somewhere like La Zeppa where the tapas are beautiful, fresh and PACKED with flavour. You have such a great location you could do so much!!!

Love this place. Went for the hi-tea – the selection of sweet and savoury treats was impressive. Range of tea flavours was awesome. Really good service. Nice and cosy ambience (though it was a bit too dark for my liking) – but I guess it goes with the theme. Make sure u check out the restrooms – very unique! :)

I’ve heard KAZUYA’s great reputations by word of mouth,so we’ve visited there as a couple lately. The food was exceptional, every single dish or bite was just amazing. I can’t express my fabulous experiences well. Just “Seeing is believing”, I strongly recommend to book this restaurant for a special occasion, then you will know how wonderful they are! Probably one of the best I’ve ever been to in NZ. I look forward to visiting there soon again.

Shockingly bad value, utterly substandard quality. $18 for a small plate of beans, a few corn chips, a tiny amount of salsa, guacamole, sour cream, a few bits of meat at least one of which was a chunk of gristle, and grated carrot to give it some colour is not up to standard. Places like this are the reason Mexican food has such a bad name in NZ.

While it appeared to be a busy little restaurant I really couldn’t understand why. Flat coke despite it coming from a can (not stored in fridge) can was under counter and wondering if it was left overs from night before. Asked for another, still flat. Duck overcooked, fettuccine made better at home, pork belly not actually belly according to my butcher husband but another part of the pig, and was a little tough. Asked 3 times in space of 5 mins if happy with meal, then waitress starts to clear our plates while we were in deep conversation both of us still eating and cutlery left open on plate. To top it off, husband pays, sits back down to wait while I go to loo, leaving my jacket on chair. I return 2 mins later to find husband pushed out by staff who removed my jacket and another couple sitting down despite other tables being available. Sorry won’t be returning, can think of several reasons y not to not return to the y not bar.

Superb little lunch spot – go here a couple of times a week – it’s quick, healthy, simple and great value for money. Personal favourite is the Chilli Chicken Don Buri. Happy days.

This place is a joke! Went with my wife last night and joined their waiting list for a table. The two young girls on the front desk had a very severe case of “superiority concept” – you’re waitresses at a Mexican cafe ladies not Hollywood A-Listers! I asked them for an indication of how long the table would be (it was 6.45) and they said 45 minutes to an hour. We went to get a drink at a bararound the corner and we waited. And waited. And waited. After over two hours we went back and couldn’t get any sort of help so we jumped in a cab and went to Mission Bay instead. It’s now Sunday and they still haven’t texted me to say my table’s ready…..they may be busy now, but once word spreads about the crap service, snotty attitude and total lack of professionalism I suspect they’ll start to look at this sort of feedback more seriously. Woeful. Don’t go there.

We’ve been to sails restaurant about three times prior and each time had been enjoyable experience. Writing the review this time based on the voucher deal we got for degustation for two at Sails. As we’ve never had a degustation dining experience before we weren’t sure what to expect, and our biggest concern was regarding the portion size (from reading degustation @ other places). I can say that this is not a worry at Sails, the portions end up just right (the angus will fill you up) and the dessert wine we decided to have with the baked lemon creme was something I’m missing now as I’m typing this review. The voucher was worth it ($120 for two) and I’d definitely come back @ full price for a special occasion, and possibly with the paired drinks option!

Fantastic decor with a warm and inviting dining room. The service is very engaging and friendly without being over bearing. The menu has some interesting selections if you are feeling adventurous. If you aren’t the Seared Ostrich entree and Jerk Spiced Pork Belly mains are very good. We did try the Roquefort, Chocolate & Whisky dessert and for us it did not really work. Extensive wine selection. Worth making a booking.

Wet Monday night;Group of 17 discerning diners, around one long table, with a set rustic french menu and matched with range of interesting wines we brought ourselves( specially arranged with our host). Entree; French Onion Soup with Fromage and Croutons; absolutely exquisite taste, served hot. Main; Fillet de Boeuf a la Mousse de Foie; exquisitely cooked( just off blue!!) so subtle yet intense in flavour; thick cut.Desert; Caramelised Pomme Crepe avec cinnamon et maple syrup. Excellent service; this is a classic example of a restaurant sticking to what it does best; no apologies; absolutely no need for excuses;perfection with a smile

They are so bad that they try to survive on doing one day deals. The portions are greedy, minimum standard and double the price of many other sushi places which defeats the purpose of a half price voucher doesn’t it? On top of that they let you pay extra for many small additional items that are normally free. Avoid at all costs!

After waiting for a table from 5.45pm to 9.30pm we left and went somewhere else. We would have hoped to have some kind of time indication after an hour. Great Sangria though, and from what I could see it would have been a good atmosphere had we been able to go.
