26/05/2012A friend and I went there for a random lunch. Lured by the fancy restaurant façade and walls. My friend ordered a chicken salad and I ordered a pasta dish. The salad was some $25.00. It was crazy disappointing… you could have made the salad for a $1.00. MacD’d salads put this $25.00 salad to shame. It was literally 3 pieces of iceberg lettuce, three stingy pieces of bland chicken and a bit of cheese. The portions were an absolute rip off. I had a pasta carbonara from memory. It was very average and could have had a better pasta from La Porchetta at half the price. Didn’t want to make a drama because the service was good and we were the only people in the restaurant for lunch. Felt ripped off and won’t be going again.

26/05/2012First time at this restaurant. I had read a few reviews which were generally good and went with an open mind. I found the atmosphere warm and friendly. Our waitress was charming and knew the menu and how the food was prepared. The food itself was excellent – I had a sardine based starter which was really moreish and a steak with my wife stealing half my entree then having a pasta dish. Really nice. They charge a minimal price for corkage and I took a nice red that suited the food. Would highly recommend for couples / to four. Was in two minds as to 4 or 5 stars

24/05/2012Have been twice. Pizza is above average but not exceptional. The music in the restaurant is so astonishingly loud that you struggle to communicate at the counter which doesn’t help either. I should point out that I’m a former heavy rock drummer so not averse to loud music – in context! The woman who served me was also so distracted and abrupt that she came off as quite rude. Probably wouldn’t bother going again.

23/05/2012Went to Covo to grab a quick bite late on a Friday night and it wasn’t crowded thanfully. The waitress was warm and friendly. Our orders arrived fairly quickly. Had the canneloni with spinach and ricotta, it tasted nice and the portion size was just right for me. The desserts menu looked great. Will definitely go back and try a 3-course meal at Covo.

22/05/2012A reasonable suburban bar, but please know when you list Mt Difficulty Pinot Noir on your wine list and then serve up Roaring Meg Pinot Noir, and when questioned say they come from the same place so same same (yes they come from the same producers but they are different wines and very different price levels) this is NOT OK. And pouring the wine with your back to the punter really only makes them suspicious – clearly for good reason. I guess ordering wine at a ‘brew bar’ was my mistake…

22/05/2012I haven’t tasted a CALAMARI as divine as the one I ate at Andres Restaurant 149 Parnell Road, Parnell. I recommend to everyone who enjoys Spanish, Italian, and French cuisine. Come and have your taste buds go to heaven.

22/05/2012Jafa is not the same as it was before – happy, homely and friendly atmosphere….I believe there was a drastic change in ownership/management? Food was lukewarm, coffees were ok and pies are not home-made anymore and still charging $7.50? Shame to see an award winning cafe drop so much in rating in such a short time.

21/05/2012Went to Santa Lucia for dinner on Sunday night. Atmosphere was great – loved the decor on the walls! Food was nice, a bit on the salty side. Could do with much less salt, but other than that we had a pleasant dining experience.

21/05/2012Yummy!! This is a place where you can actually get a proper PIZZA in Auckland, with nice, taste, good quality ingredients, (not the, tasteless thick or thin bread stuff with topping, they call pizza at a lot of other places), I think this is one of the best Pizzerias in town.

20/05/2012Had dinner a few weeks ago, got greeted by the staff whom were wonderful and very well trained. I asked for a romantic table for me and my partner, received it straight away. The food was very tasty and beautifully presented. All in all a very wonderful experience. Definitely would recommend it, I will personally be back for more.

20/05/2012This is honestly the best I talian I have ever had. I always order pasta when I dine at Italian restaurants in the hope that they make the pasta themselves. This place makes all their pastas fresh aswell as the gnocchi, we ordered the pumpkin gnocchi and the beef tortelini and I can say it was absolutely devine!! We had this on friday night and I am already planning on going back. Even my husband who is never impressed by Italian food loved the food here. I will definately be taking my friends and family here!

17/05/2012We tried this for the first time, looking for a neighborhood. Very friendly introduction at the pizza oven, good food, nice staff. If there is a complaint, it is that the food took a bit to long to come. All in all, worth a second visit.

17/05/2012“Perfect dough, divine pizza !”
In the quest for the best pizza, I’m always trying new places, and I must admit I’m never satisfied…
So I tried That’s Amore pizza, and now, I’m totally addict !
I tried the Capricciosa pizza, with artichokes, delicious salami, capers, ham, mozzarella…. A combination to die for !
All the ingredients are really fresh and the dough is simply perfect, white, crispy, light and so tasty. You can choose between pizzas (43 different choice), calzone, salads, gnocchi, gelati….
We had some wine by the glass, a traditional red Lambrusco (slightly fizzy, low-alcohol wine) which pairs so well with the pizza. You can choose by the glass, a half bottle or a bottle.
For desert I ordered the homemade Tiramisu… Yuuuuuuuummmy. Served in a glass. So freshly made, that the Savoiardi biscuits were still crispy on the sugar side ! Very light, perfect for a desert. There was not cacao powder on the top but chocolate powder. This tiramisu was perfect, but I would just love it with more Marsala liquor !
The owners are real italian guys, from Napoli, in the south of Italy (where they do the best pizza in the world). You can hear them talking italian, I have no idea what there were talking about, but it give to the place a nice exotic atmosphere
That’s Amore is by far my favorite pizza in Auckland. We are lucky to have such an authentic place in Auckland, where you can enjoy fresh tasty pizzas !
Grazie, grazie!!

15/05/2012Went to Coco’s Cantina thanks to references from friends and noting it won an award in the Metro Top 50 restaurants, and was pleasantly satisfied. The table wait wasn’t too bad although we got there early. The food was great and the service fantastic. We had the platter to start which was ample and tasty, and I had the steak for main (as usual) – it was cooked blue to my liking and had a great flavour. They allowed me to swap out my potatoes, and instead of giving me something bore-factor they gave me roast carrots and beets – so yummy! Would definitely go back. Not too pricey either.

15/05/2012YUM! I first tried O’Sarracino at my company’s Christmas dinner last year. I knew this was the place I wanted to bring my family for an authentic Italian meal. We went there for Mother’s Day. The Squid Ink was yum! I had the SPAGHETTI CARTOCCIO (Seafood spaghetti cooked in the pizza oven with our focaccia pizza topping). Very unique dish!
We also had the GNOCHI and Venison Ravioli. Little bit pricey from other Italian restaurant, but it’s definitely worth the money!
