I have been to Black Sugar Grill a few times and the food and service are always excellent. I booked our gym group in of 22 last week – we had a set menu which had lots of choices on it. Again the food and service were excellent. We had one member that had some special dietary requirements and they went out of their way to accomodate these. I was dealing with Shiva online when making the booking and also on the night – he does a great job of ensuring everything is perfect – thanks Shiva!

We had heard the dumplings here were good so booked for dinner (table of 5) on a Friday night. We were not disappointed! We all shared 3 plates of steamed dumplings (from memory they were chicken & chives, pork & chives and prawn, egg & chives) plus two plates of veges (bok choy & stir fried veges). All the food was fantastic! It was more than enough for 5 girls plus we had brought a bottle of wine to share. It came to $13 per person- such a cheap dinner! The service was probably about a 3/5 and the decor of the place leaves a lot to be desired, but for this price and for such good food you really can’t complain. Will definitely return here for more dumplings, but I’d recommend making a booking as when we were leaving the place was packed & people were lined up outside the door.

Absolutely loved the food at Little & Friday! Everything looked so delicious that it was hard to choose. I got the pesto, bocconcini & tomato gazette (I think that’s what it was called!) plus a ginger latte and my friend got the cream jam donut & savoury brioche. All amazingly delicious! The only negative was that we had to get takeaway as there were absolutely NO seats, but I guess this is a testament to the fact that the food is so good, plus it was a rainy Saturday morning at peak time. All in all a fantastic cafe which I will most definitely be visiting again soon!

Went there recently for a work lunch with a big group – so we preordered from the lunch menu the day before. You’d imagine this would make it easier for the kitchen to have the produce they needed, but when my Mediterranean salad arrive the lettuce was clearly old and brown at the edges. There was no feta and pine nuts as per the menu. Just old lettuce (that had clearly come from a bag and been plonked on my plate) and too much dressing. I walked it back to the kitchen to check it was in fact the salad I had ordered. They replaced it, but no one apologised or said anything. The new one came with feta etc but was still tired and yuck. Others at the table were also unimpressed and said they wouldn’t go back. We were there for around an hour and no one asked us if we wanted drinks. Terrible food, terrible service and no atmosphere.

Had a yummy veggie wrap, I think a new addition to menu. Also a very tasty potato salad with a vegan dressing. Finished with my favorite – the vegan banana cake. Nice friendly staff and a wonderful atmosphere to add some peace and sanity to my day.

Best bagels in town. Ive enjoyed bagel love bagels for some time, last weekend I tried the new montreal style – best ugly. I found it stodgy and almost as if undercooked and too sweet for my liking. Great to have some bagel choices in auckland though- bagel love still the best authentic bagels.

A group of four, we tried Symonds Indian for the first time last night using “all you can eat” vouchers. From the moment we walked in we were warmly welcomed, met with a smile and offered our choice of table. We were very impressed with the vegetarian range (3 of us ‘vegies’) and thoroughly enjoyed the dishes we ordered-all very tasty with lots of flavour. The other member of our party had the Prawn Masala which was excellent also. We loved the cheese and garlic naan and the rice was divine. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant was clean and fresh (the toilet facilities were of a high standard also). We had a 10/10 dining experience-we will be back to enjoy again and highly recommend to all. Thank you for your hospitality, excellent service and delicious food!

Just came back from a dinner for two at Kazuya and felt compelled to get on here as soon as I got home and drop my thoughts. Had the 8 course tasting menu. Not one dud course from start to finish. Everything that’s been said about this restaurant by all the glowing reviews preceding mine couldn’t be more accurate. In fact I implore you to find any other fine dining restaurant in Auckland on this site that has scored 5 stars across every single one of its reviews. Totally deserved. From the amuse bouche to the petit fours, just a brilliantly balanced dining experience with the hokkaido scallops and the cambridge duck, for us anyway, the killer standouts. $85 for the tasting menu? What fantastic value for money. I think the really nice thing about Kazuya is that it all comes as a bit of a surprise – on so many levels. Perhaps because it is still relatively new on the fine dining scene? That surprise will soon start diminishing as word gets round, but I can say this – there is a humbleness about this place which is so lovely and warm and I genuinely hope (and believe) that they’ll keep that as they grow in popularity. The final touch with chef coming to thank you as you exit the restaurant is such an apt example of what I’m referring to. It’s the perfect way to end a great meal.

Very disappointed with the service especially for a restaurant on Ponsonby. We were ignored as we walked through the entrance even though the restaurant was quiet and waiters standing around not doing anything, had to get our own table. Were asked if we wanted drinks 10mins later, menus were given another 15 mins later.we were ready to order but waiters were no where to be seen for 20 mins. Ended up walking out of the restaurant – something I haven’t done in a long time which also made me write the review. Unacceptable service.

We are regular customers of KK. The food standard unfortunately slipped due to its popularity. It’s okay for a bright, cheerful meal..This is a place for a quick meal, not socialising. The service can be slow, the worst part is that they charge for rice. We return for meals there still in hope the food would be back to the old standard.

We found the food enjoyable but the staff members were not trained to serve. It took them ten minutes to bring menu, and the dishes arrived well before the rice, so we have to start eating the mains without rice! The ambience is good, but they need to clean the glass water feature regularly.

Amazing food at amazing prices. We went after reading the other reviews on this site and we will be new regular customers. Food is so tasty and a lot of thought has gone into the food, presentation and flavours. The food is simple but delicious. I also signed up to this site just to review this restaurant as I really want to see it do well.

I have been there 3 times now, usually before going to dressmart. Took my mum and aunty there today who were visiting from Christchurch. Staff are really lovely and always smiling and helpful. The food is nice, not fancy and over priced, just tasty at good prices. I don’t drink coffee but my aunty said the coffee was great. Will be sure to go again . Craig.

My husband and I LOVE this place! We used to live in Remuera so it was our local but now we have moved to Ellerslie but still make the trek up to Jasmine Rice as it continues to be our favourite place to get the best, reasonably priced Thai food. Particularly like the Pad Thai!

We go often for takeaways. Love the food. Pizzas are delicious and pastas are excellent too. We usually phone first and we have always had good service and always the correct food. I would recommend to family and friends.

After reading some great reviews I was disappointed with the cafe. The service was non-existent, I had the eggs benedict which was distinctly average, and the atmosphere bland too. The coffee was the only highlight.

This is the first review we have ever written about anything. However, our experience last night was so exceptional that we are compelled to take the time to share some strong words of praise and recommendation! The combination of excellent food, service and the relaxed but intimate atmosphere encapsulated all things Italian. Having lived in Napoli 2 years ago, we can attest to the authenticity of the food and the atmosphere delivered by the friendly staff. We started with the antipasto platter for 2, followed by pesce of the day (snapper), and duck-filled ravioli special. Each mouthful was a religious experience, from the first to the last – but we were so full we could not finish! The wine (Canapi nero d’avola) was delicious. Honestly, the best food or meal we have had since leaving Italy 2 years ago – maybe even the best ever! Not to mention we were made to feel like we were the only ones in the restaurant, and being last to leave we were never rushed out the door. Grazie Gaetano and your wonderful crew for a perfect night! We will certainly be back for the next special occasion.
