Dined here a few months ago (just remembered to place feedback). I had the ribs, was happily eating my dinner when I found a piece of plastic in my food. I told the waitstaff and she took my plate away to the kitchen. She came back a few minutes later and said dont worry the chef said its only a bit of plastic from the ribs packaging!!! No sorry, would you like a drink or refund. Another waitress came by 5 minutes later and asked how our meals were we told her about the plastic. She went away and came back a few mintues later and was very apologetic. She asked us to fill in entertainment review questionaire and said to write down about the plastic and the waitress reply to my complaint and that she would pass it on to management and get them to ring us the next day. Its been a few months and never heard anything. Disgusting, would not ever return here, staff were grumpy, not welcoming and it seemed like they didnt get along. The friendly waitress seemed like she wanted to get the chef and other rude waitress fired. Stay away from this one

Went here for lunch today with a table of 6. To start with wait staff were friendly. Our meals took ages to come and when they did they were cold. We had simple meals, seafood chowder, salad and vege stack. Advised the wait staff they were cold and they apologised and took away. The meals came back a few minutes later, it was very obvious they had been microwaved as there was a skin on the soup and veges tough. Wait staff came to see how meals were said still cold and obvious been microwaved, she asked do we want to speak to manager, we said it wasn’t good enough the quality of the meals and I would have thought that was a given, never saw the manager and never asked when paying how meals were. The food here is usually faultless but definitely not today. A coffee at our table that was ordered with the mains took longer to come that the reheated mains. Very disappointed, the place was not busy and there was alot of wait staff on.

Recently attended with a party of 14 others for a special function. The meals ordered were very pleasant and the ambience was good. The only sour note to spoil what was otherwise a nice evening was realising some days later (after having found the receipt) that I had been charged for a main that was not ordered and also overcharged for corkage. The corkage in particular had been costed out on the bill at $10.50 per bottle unlike the $9.50 as advertised. My mistake really, I should have checked the bill at the time. I was under the albeit misguided impression that staff would have totalled up correctly.

My partner took me here as a surprise for my birthday. We had a great night. The staff were friendly & attentive to our needs but allowed us to relax and enjoy the meal. The atmosphere was warm & inviting, the restaurant was about half full this evening. We had the set menu which was more food than we could almost finish and it was all delicious. I will definitely come back again, I imagine on a summers day and sit outside in the courtyard with a glass of wine.

Truly an amazing place been there several times had many special moments there when Ive traveled down from Dunedin. The food there is incredible no place better, with reasonable size meals even on they Light Fare Menu. Be ready to join in and sing Happy Birthday with everyone . As I traveled from Dunedin I’m amazed they always remembered me and always a warm welcome. Truly a place ill always remember and special moments there with someone special in my Heart

In general the food was OK. However the service by the Maitre d’ was appalling. I don’t think I have ever had such rude service anywhere ever and the group of 12 I was with were completely gobsmacked at the attitude and behaviour of this particular person. I will not be going back to this place unless there is a change in Maitre d’.

We went to The Brickworks on 12 May 2012 two of us ordered the venison Ossco Bucco, the meat was dry and full of gristle and tasted nothing like any venison we have ever had, if it it was a blind tasting we would have said it was very bad oxtail not properly cooked. The other two meals were satisfactory. Do not say something is venison when it is not.

The Holy Grail is no 5 star restaurant. It is however 5 star entertainment for what it’s meant to be, the best sports bar I’ve attended to watch a game in. I now live in Perth WA and tell everyone of the great experiences to be had at the Holy Grail. If you can’t make a game live, it’s the next best place to be. To be in the top bar, front row between Australians and South Africans watching the All Blacks, nothing is better.

How difficult is it to make a bacon sandwich? It’s just two rashers of bacon between two slices of toast. It really shouldn’t be that hard. It seems it’s too complicated for Scarborough Fare Cafe who have admitted they could’n't manage it. No worries, there are plenty of other places in Sumner that can.

Visited twice, once on a Monday and again on a Thursday. Monday it was lovely, service was great, about 10 tables booked. Thursday was horrible. The waiters were at our table rubber necking all night. The food finally came, apricot sauce tasted like nothing we had tasted before, burnt rubber mess. All I asked for was the chicken wrapped in bacon with a handful of chips and a salad. But no, I received a plate full of fries a salad which consisted of three lettuce leaves one tomato slice and 2 slices of cucumber all drowned in salad dressing … they seem to grate beetroot over everything too. Chicken was lost amongst the fries, dry to the bone and not crispy but soggy underneath. If your after a nice night out head here on a Monday do not venture otherwise. Good for kids. Dont expect quality everytime
