12/02/2012Have been to EAT four times and I absolutely can’t recommend it enough. Have tried the bacon and eggs, the blue cheese pie, and some other FILO thing. It is like a work of art. So Much so that i always photograph the plate before I eat. The selection of salad greens and different flavours on the plate means you get a different yet amazing taste with every bite. It sounds like I have shares in this place but I only wish I did. The small details like right down to the teaspoons they use and the cups and saucers. Enjoy. I do.

06/02/2012Just tried some of the meals on the new lunch/brunch menu at Capers, and it was fantastic! I had the steak on ciabatta with “rustic fries”….YUM! My friend had the Salmon served with beetroot salad which was also amazing! Definitely recommend these meals, and the other items on the new menu look equally as tasty…..and really good value for money (kind of like a restaurant meal for a cafe price). The food was really fresh and beautifully presented! Capers has always been my “go to” place for breakfasts because I always know I’ll get a great meal and really good, friendly service – so it will now be a “go to” place for lunches too! Can’t wait to try the corn fritters, Moroccan lamb, more of those delicious fries, and if like me you have a sweet tooth you must try the tan slice…. it’s HEAVEN!

01/02/2012I’m simply amazed by the consistency of capers, the staff are top class and the breakfast menu is simply divine! I’ve been coming to capers everyday on my way to work for 3 months now as I moved here from London, best coffee I have had in Dunedin and in New Zealand for that matter! The breakfast menu is great also, the pancakes, what can I say! extreme value for money not to mention an explosion of flavour and a real great start to the day! Also being British I really love the big breakfast, if your extremely hungry I recommend the Works! Incredible value! I also heard there is a new lunch menu coming, can’t wait to try it out! I truly recommend Capers to everybody.

01/02/2012FOOD QUALITY: 2/5 PORTION SIZE: 1/5 SERVICE & AMBIENT: 3/5 VALUE FOR MONEY: 1/5 OVERALL: 1/5 Was there on a work lunch and my first disappointment was the limited menu. I ended ordering a beef burger since there was nothing else even remotely appealing to my taste (there was also Seafood Chowder and Roast Kumara Salad, maybe another 1 or 2 dishes). Was not at all impressed with the burger. Meat just didn’t taste well (am not a beef fan and had to make myself eat this), caramelised onions (I can’t believe I’m about to say this) were the tastiest part of the burger, with the bun being ridiculously hard (I just ate the bottom half, didn’t bother with the upper crust). I had a slight digestion disorder the following few days, this was the only out-of-the-ordinary meal I had that week so I don’t know what was with that food. The portion itself (valued at $18) was disappointing, just the burger (half of it being inedible) and some fries. Staff was friendly though and the place looked neat. Overall, it’s a disastrous value for money, a somewhat typical Dunedin restaurant with ‘fancy’ overpriced food. I definitely won’t go back.

31/01/2012I love Rhubarb! We go there quite a lot and I always love the cosmopolitan vibe, the food is always wonderful and the coffee superb. Sitting there enjoying the Roslyn buzz is always a treat, the service is great and as for Sam well I have always found him pleasant, I think he just has a very dry sense of humour!

31/01/2012Went for lunch just before Christmas, to begin with we were seated outside (our choice) but after being left with the menu for half and hour we were deciding to leave, however we asked to be seated inside which we were with no problem and eventually we ordered. The food was fine but clearly the front of house staff had no clue about what they were doing, very sad when this is such an awesome location. Would go back if not in any hurry.

31/01/2012I have eaten here many times and always find it great. The food is always good and those cakes are to die for. I have always found the staff very pleasant and friendly and they sure work for their money. They are always busy over lunch but the wait is never overly long. Very impressed.

26/01/2012Best breakfast/brunch in Dunedin. Large meals for reasonable prices (almost everything is less than $20). Cosy environment and good service too. I recommend the eggs montreal on brioche.

25/01/2012Went the other week. Ordered the Fish and Chips and the Big Breakfast. I am a fully qualified chef and the food was the right flavour, temp and was seasoned accordingly. Will returning here again.

20/01/2012Called in for a coffee 2 days ago and certainly won’t be rushing back. Walked in and sat down, one member of our party of 3 went to the counter to order. Drinks were “delivered” and I use the term very loosely!! – fairly quickly to the table. Drinks were announced and started to say “yes, that’s mine” only to be talked over and told I’ll just put them here and you can sort yourselves out. Only 3 tables in the cafe and 3 staff behind the counter – would be nice to see some interaction with the customers. I won’t be back.

15/01/2012Went here for lunch with a friend. Service was very slack, we were told our order would be taken at the table and after a long wait we went to the counter to order. No apologies. Meal was fairly tasteless and over priced for what was offered. Coffee is good.
