Just good honest food. We were happy with every meal. It has a great bar next door within the building. Service was great with friendly staff. We’d happily stop in for a meal again.

This place is a gem. Something you just don’t expect to find out on it’s own. Great coffee, great food, great service and even better location sitting out over the water. Probably our 6th time here over the years and a great place to get food and coffee.

Loved it. The staff were super friendly. Shared an entree of Grilled ciabatta bread which was a lovely way to fill the time until mains, Had the Garlic and Prawn Fettuccine was super filling, good sized serving and delicious. Baked cheesecake with black-cherry topping for dessert was lovely, not too rich but still flavoursome, Even had a pot of tea after dinner. Had a lovely night and would definitely love to go there again

Great service, Friendly staff, Had main and dessert (King Prawns and Creme Caramel) The desert was the only let down for me, Presentation of both courses was nice but the dessert fell short for me, other than that it was a very enjoyable experience with a nice setting.

We had breakfast here today and it was great. I had the york all day breakfast and it was delicious. My wife had the eggs benedict and she really liked hers as well. And my 2yr old had scrabbled eggs on toast and iv never heard him say yummy so many times. The price was really good and it was good portion sizes. And to top it off the staff were really friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be eating there again next time we are in Russell.

Have to agree with most people, Charlie, was grumpy and rude and should either take a long holiday or retire, he tried to tell us the cook was stressed, we just laughed. (Don’t think the cook had the problem). The food was just the best, we could not have had it any better, any where else. Many thanks to Nicole, the poor girl was run off her feet, she was so nice to everyone.

I think some of the reviews below are a bit harsh. If you want cheap takeaways from a soulless corner shop you’ve come to the wrong place. We hardly ever eat fish & chips, but when we do we happily drive 45 min north from Kerikeri and pay a premium price to eat beautifully cooked bluenose over the water. NZ’s best fish and chips would be stretching it (anyone actually know where that is?) but they are very very good. You can pick up some foul greasies cheaply at your local, or come here and treat yourselves.

Good cafe-style food and nice surroundings. A great place to sit back and let the kids run around. Nice to see they’re recently tidied up the playground which was a bit of a shambles before. 3.5 stars …. recommended.

Five or six years ago The Black Olive used to be one of our local favourites. This is a great family eatery. Nice pizza, hugely extensive non-pizza menu. Fun and friendly venue … and the pricing used to be reasonable. Nothing much has changed except the cost has quietly crept up and up. It really isn’t the affordable little family evening anymore. It must be hard to turn a profit in this business in a small provincial town like Kerikeri so I can’t blame them for sneaking the price up a bit, but our last meal for two adults (plus one toddler) cost a bomb. Be careful to check just how much that glass of tap Stella is costing you ! Anyway – don’t be put off, the food is really pretty good, but order wisely.

Thai Chef’s is Faulty Towers hilarious! But if you like Thai food, this is a compulsory visit. The food is seriously excellent. The only catch is deciphering the menu. Some dishes are labelled correctly but what the hell is “Duck in Love”, “The Ocean Volcano”, or “Pattaya Girls” ? If you’re a connoisseur of Thai food you’ll have to be a great detective to work out what you’re ordering. In contrast, Chang Siam in Kerikeri has the perfect menu … if only they could cook it like this place. When ordering, be aware that if you ask for Thai hot, that’s actually what you’ll get … which is a pleasant change. I came away thinking … I need way more chilli in my Thai cooking at home. You’ll read elsewhere about the service …. unbelievably rude the last time we went. I found myself trying desperately to coach a smile out of our hostile waitress. But you know what ? It really doesn’t matter … the food is THAT good! So the bottom line is this – GO GO GO, you must go. Take along a healthy attitude about the service, make it part of the experience, and enjoy the best Thai restaurant north of Auckland. The three stars review is really only to be fair to other restaurants. The food is close to 5 stars and the service in the basement, so I’ll give ‘em 3! (but please go). Actually – three stars isn’t fair. I’ve edited this post give them four.

I love this place. Food is consistently good and the premises and surroundings are excellent. Pricing isn’t the cheapest in town but it’s well worth it. I like it best for a lunchtime meal with family from out of town. Sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine while the kids treat the boule/petanque court as a sandpit! Ake Ake sits alongside Wharepuke for best Kerikeri eatery.

Not sure what it is about this place, people either love it or hate it. I WANT to like it but really struggle to come up with any positives beyond the fact it’s adjacent to the cinema. Food is patchy. We’ve had some okay meals here and some shockers. Price is reasonable for what you get. The few takeaway coffee’s I’ve had bought for me (thanks hun!) have been pretty good. People love to tell me about the awful service and food they’ve had but I’m not reviewing on their behalf. Personally, I find the awkwardness of the staff behind the counter the hardest to look past. Hugely welcoming and gushy if you’re the “in” crowd. Somewhat cold, vague, and sometimes (quite honestly) rude if you don’t fit into the above category. My advice? Come here if it fits your movie schedule, but be prepared to be assertive about your meal and time requirements.

Partner and I were up from Auckland and were lucky enought to choose The Italians for dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed the seafood pasta, and the freshly baked bread, which came in very generous portions. Prices were well below what we would expect in Auckland. Chef/Owner came and asked everyone how their meals were at the end of the night which was a nice personal touch.

We regularly eat here and love their goat curry special, we have it Indian hot and then some. They have got it just right taste to heat for us, plenty of lumps of meat. The service has always been good with the meals quickly served. We are lovers of curry’s and had almost given up eating curry as we found the ones on offer at places in Northland poor. We are sure you also will enjoy your visit.

I am a tourist, last year stay in NZ for few months. I really miss the foods over there, Ti bay takeaways is one of best I think, because the staff friendly, food yum, service fast, store clean, really recommend you guys to try!!! Especially battered dory fish, crispy and juicy! If come with some chips and a can of coke, wow…it’s delectable!!! I also like spring roll, kumara chips, every beef burgers, veges burger…etc.. Anyway, when you pass by, don’t forget to buy some good foods and continue your journey, it’s will give you more energy.

To all of the staff at this establishment, the wait staff, managers and even chefs and kitchen hands behind the scenes, you are all amazing! My partner is not normally good with picking places to eat out so when he chose Jimmy Jacks I was hesitant but it was a truly wonderful experience. Even though it was very busy, every customer that walked through the door was always greeted and seated. The food was amazing, well worth waiting for. I can say I found my new favourite place to eat, I would definitely travel from Melbourne just to come back to this place. The apple pie is perfection and was the icing on the cake. So glad I stayed longer to eat it, I would have been missing out if I didnt. Finally to the manager, I told you I would give you 100 out of 5 if I could and I promised you I would leave this rating so here it is. Thank you for a truly great experience
