Poor service really brings this place down. Staff seem put out at all our (reasonable) requests. Food adequate, but pricey. Didn’t like having to queue twice at different areas for our order from menu then from cabinet.

Went with friends on a friday night, felt like a bit of a criminal walking in with a wine bottle suddenly couldnt remember if it was BYO or not, stuffed the wine in to our bags while we scoured the wine list for a clue, nothing there, googled it, and what do you know it is BYO, the staff are just slack. After having to go up and ask for wine glasses and dinner menus (15-20mins after we arrived) we could finally get on with ordering. Entrees were a mixed bag risotto balls were great, but calamari was like deep fried rubber bands Had the char grilled salmon for the main, and it was truely delicious almost enough to make my forget about the start of the night. This was shortly ruined by a trip to the toilets where i nearly slipped over due to water (i hope) and toilet paper all over the floor, granted it was later in to the night and i had a few wines by then, but still that visual basically sums up my lasting impression of the place.

Seven friends and I met for a special lunch last Saturday, (we had not met for a year). All of us really enjoyed the Jetty. The menu was varied, and included some lighter choices, which meant that most of us had room for dessert. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and especially the desserts, the sticky date pudding and the banana dish were definite favourites. We will be back again.

Thought the place looked nice and clean, meals were awesome, very yummy and good price for the size of the meal. Their Service not that great friends got there 30Min’s before I arrived and had only just ordered their breads/Starters, they had to ask for some wine glasses to drink their wine. We arrived they asked us for started after having to call them over, but didn’t ask for drink orders. Which thru out the night we were never asked if we wanted drinks. Had to get our 9 year old to order water.. Or we were never asked how the meals were. All in all food very good and would go back again. Just a pity on their service. Looked like only 2 people were working in such a big place. Cheers

This café has a serious fly problem which isn’t helped by staff spraying fly killer in the dining area when customers are trying to eat. In addition, the food you get for the price just isn’t worth it, there’s far better quality and value for money elsewhere. We booked for Mum’s day lunch – the place was very busy which can be used to excuse some of the slow service; two meals out of nine came late – but isn’t an excuse for the fly’s or poor value for money. Service is also poor with most of the waiting staff gliding around with air of arrogance. Will we return? Nope.

Had a group of 11 for a celebration meal. We got a nice private table and the waiting staff really took an interest to make our evening a good one. Menu was sufficently varied that everyone was catered for. Lots of local produce and cuisine which was great to see. Food came in good time, well presented and most importantly tasted great!!!! Very happy with the experience and we will definitely be back to Jacksons again!

Amazing view, it seems central Wellington scenery and Lower Hutt cafe style have been smashed together and I like the results. Great food from both the kitchen and cabinet. The coffees weren’t the best but this is a Petone family restaurant so you can’t expect all the luxuries, however they were definitely drinkable. The staff are friendly and attentive. The environment is welcoming and comfortable, once you get up the stairs its magic, especially at sunset.

Used to go to the old Tiki Cafe, which was great, food always good. Went to the Lower Hutt one to day very disappointed food not great, coffee and hot chocolate cold, could not use entertainment voucher and will not be returning. Will try the cafe next door next ime.

THIS PLACE IS COOL. Had the best sunday big breekie…. bacon, poached eggs,tomaties,mushies, large bits of toaast ohh yea …It was my first time here last sunday… Ill be back..for sure.. could of sat there all day listening to ther mean play list., .

Disappointing!!! We have eaten here before and the food was fantastic so thought we would grab a bite to eat before a movie, we arrived at 7:15pm and did not receive our food until 8:50pm. The scotch fillet was terrible and totally overdone for medium rare, duck fat potatoes tasted like they were microwaved-I didn’t realize you get free charcoal on the $28 steak. The Moroccan lamp rump at $32 was overpriced and nothing seemed to match on the dish I spoke to the waitress about the food standard and she said they were short staffed so only had 1 chef and kitchen hand. I asked her why they were still accepting customers when they were not doing a good job of food for current customers and she couldn’t answer me! 3 other tables sent their food back whilst we were there. We will not be returning.

I cannot recommend Sweet Pea highly enough! A group of 12 of us went down for Posh high tea and everything was AMAZING! The food was delicious and well presented. Decor is charming and the staff are lovely. A great thing to do with the girls or mum

I used to love the Tiki Lounge where it used to be great food great staff and lovely atmosphere and I was sad to here it had gone. Then I found it again on Lower Hutt and couldn’t wait to go. But I was very disappointed the staff were rude and the food was awful! I will not be returning.

Tried this place just because we had not been to it before and WOW, we will go again. Lovely service and food that was brilliant. Four of us went and everyone was delighted.

1st time i went with a friend – it was great atmosphere lovely bit small in seating arrangements but thoroughly enjoyed the food and coffee. 2nd time i went with my husband we saw a customer there with some great looking Nachos (my husband loves Nachos) and in other cafes they have been quite disappointing – i ordered the chicken stack which was ok it was noticeably zapt in the microwave killed a bit of flavour i think, then we heard the staff talk about how they were out of chilli beans my hubby thinking – no, no, no, no…. but they made his nachos which tasted OK- but its just not the same when they have given you nice corn chips n cheese with nice beef mince – then added baked beans with sweet chilli sauce – very disappointing indeed when they took out plates away i said we were not impressed with the nachos becos it had no chilli beans and she said ‘sorry we do make it with chilli beans but we had run out’ i said “you shouldve told us then we could of had the opportunity to re-order” again she was apologetic and gave us a free piece of carrot cake with yogurt. Nice but not the same.

I love this place! The food is lovely, good specials, great staff. Sometimes you can be waiting on drinks but that okay, you’re not waiting on your food! Lunch portion sizes are also great! BYO is also a great option!

We had frequented the old Tiki on a number of occasions and really enjoyed it. We were terribly disappointed when we heard of the closure of the Waiwhetu cafe. Then we saw it had relocated to the High Street and thought “yey – it’s back”. Two of us visited Saturday 7th April. I ordered my favorite nacho’s, he ordered the calamari salad. Note: whenever I felt like nacho’s we’d head over to Waiwhetu previously – that’s how much I liked them. We also ordered two thick shakes. Service was good – friendly although a little unattentive. Our meals arrived. The first thing I noticed was portion size. The meals had shrunk. Previously the calamari salad was packed full. I also noticed my nacho’s had shrunk – and the cheese? Previously cheese melted over the entire dish and settled in the little nooks and crannies of the nachos. This time – there was very little cheese. The heat in the chilli was unbearable – I’m sure the chef hadn’t tasted it otherwise he would have known. The new venue is particularly impersonal…not the friendly warm environment from Waiwhetu. They also no longer that the Entertainment book voucher – change in ownership I understand. We wont be back to Tiki…most unfortunate for us.
