This restaurant is great. Amazing selection of meals to choose from, not just pasta. If you are also a dessert fan then you will enjoy. The meals were absolutely delicious , they were enjoyed by everyone and we all said that we would most definitely go back which we have for lunches as well. The Service was very friendly and prompt. It has a lovely little bar that you can sit at and chat to the friendly barman. The only thing I would say is that it would have just topped it off if we had a fire going just to add a bit of a romantic warmth

Family and friends, local, national and international gathered to celebrate a 21st birthday last Saturday night. I was a little dubious after hearing about negative reviews when family checked out the website once they knew where I had booked for dinner. However when I made the booking apart from the inviting atmosphere, the staff were so very warm and friendly, and couldn’t have been more helpful so I decided to stick with it. It was so worth it. On the night we were all so impressed with EVERYTHING. The food was amazing, not one complaint from us!!! We were all really happy. The staff were great…we went back a few times over the few days prior to family leaving town and I have already recommended to others. The food was DIVINE!

Went for dinner with family, using GrabOne voucher. We are all liked “Blue Duck platter”. It’s a very delicious seafood platter, i would recommend that and give it 9/10. I would go again to try a la carte.

Just had a birthday dinner at The Good Home tonight and have to say it was quite disappointing after we had heard such good things. Chicken in the burger was dry and over-powered with sun dried tomato, gristle in the “steak” on the burger and extremely oily deep fried prawns which was an odd combination with the burger anyway, oil not hot enough to cook the batter on the fish properly, lumpy pumpkin and parsnip mash with the lamb shank, just about the worst glass of chardonnay I can remember tasting in this town, no condiments offered and not even salt and pepper on the table. Service was slow after we were pounced on for drinks before we’d even had a chance to sit down and read the menu and then a second staff member had to come back and ask again for our drinks order. The whole place lacked atmosphere/ambience and the staff were less than visible or easy to hear or understand. We will not be returning.

After having heard some tremendous reviews about The Garlic Press I have to say I was delighted. The menu is extensive and mouth-watering, and the food itself is presented in an appetising yet not over-flambuoyant fashion. I had the king prawns as an entree and they were cooked to perfection; the flavours were in perfect harmony and the portion size was good, not so much that I felt too full for my main, yet enough to really whet my appetite. My partner had the scallops with cauliflour puree and crispy pork belly and she said they were also delicious (she was pleased to note that they were not served with the roe, she doesn’t like that bit!). For my main course I thoroughly enjoyed the Sirloin which was served medium rare, with very thin chips and a well dressed salad. My steak was tender, juicy and pink without being intimidatingly bloody and it just melted in my mouth. My partner was delighted with her crispy duck – she said the meat was simply beautiful and the accompanying gnocchi were to die for! The front of house staff were friendly, helpful and extremely efficient and the overall ambience of the restaurant was very cheerful – it seems like the staff are genuinely keen to ensure you have a pleasant evening and a good feed. And that is exactly what my partner and I got from the evening. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for top notch food in an informal and welcoming environment.

We’ve had several dining experiences at Table. The setting is lovely, and quite intimate. The outside courtyard is a great place for a drink or two. The food generally is very good – we’ve had one miss on the shared platter a few years back but since then they have been excellent. The perfect entree for 2 at a very reasonable $30 for what you get. We had it a few weeks ago and it was excellent. The mains are also good – not out of this world fantastic but very very good. This is more of a fine dining restaurant and the main meals reflect this, as does the service although this isn’t as polished as it could be. The menu isn’t huge but then neither is the restaurant and given this fact the actual choice you get is excellent. The desert for us was a complete letdown, as was the dessert menu, and we’d probably skip this bit next time. The coffee was excellent though. Recommended for a nice dining experience.

We’ve had numerous lunches at Gusto’s and it is always excellent. Lovely setting, staff always accomodating (ie arriving without a booking on a busy weekend!) and the food is very good as is the price (for lunchtime anyway). Highly recommended.

We were very excited when this place opened because it is so ‘child’ friendly with the karts, but the food was a total and expensive letdown. $10 for a thin pancake was excessive to say the least, as was the prices for the drinks. Our ‘Schnitzel’ was a $25 chewy piece of thick meat we couldn’t eat. It is a shame as it is the perfect place to go with family, but if you want your kids to eat it will cost a fortune. Please consider a reasonably priced kids menu ($8 is the average in New Plymouth) and we’ll be back!

We have had many meals at Arborio, and it tends to be a bit hit and miss. It is a great place for brunch/lunch, the pizza’s are fantastic as are the kids meals. The few times we have had dinner however have been a total miss. Bad service, terrible table settings (kept having to ask for cutlery etc) and average (and expensive) food which is borderline cafe quality but definitely nothing fantastic especially for the (high) price. Some of the dinner menu items are the same as the lunch menu but $10 more! The arrangement of the restaurant is also a bit of a hit/miss – the booth and lounge seating is fantastic if you can score one, but the table and chairs haphazardley arranged is a bit too minimalistic, cold and uncomfortable. Go there for the pizza and daytime dining.

We regularly dine at Andre’s and have never had anything but an amazing meal with fantastic service, in a lovely setting. We are lucky that New Plymouth boasts many great restaurants (Table, Salt, Arborio, India Today etc) but Andre’s never disappoints. Does the service sometimes take a bit longer on a busy night? Yes – but this is a fine dining experience not a cafe so why would you expect anything else. The main meals are always excellent, and large. The Snails are a must. The venison is hard to beat, as is the (huge) steak meal. At only around $37 for a main meal why would you go to any of the cafe’s for dinner that offer meals at a similar price? We have tried them all but Andre’s is definitely the best place to dine in New Plymouth.

I have been a few times there and food was just ok. I must say that some of the staff is very lazy and slow. Last time we went for dinner and i was not impressed. I ordered fillet steak, very bad decision! It was not fillet steak, I’m not stupid. It was very cheap and chewy rump steak, I was not born yesterday, I know! That was $36 and it was not possible to eat, there was no meat, but only fat and tendons. They make nice coffee, and if I ever go there again, it would be the only reason.

I have dined at andre’s twice. First was amazing. Enjoyed it and had a big group of 12 eating their. The second time was terrible. It took about half an hour before we were even offered drinks. Then when we finally got our menus an ordered it took over an hour to get our meal. The service was terrible. I just watched everyone else in the restaurant get their food, groups walk in and have their entrĂ©es. Most of the people on our table left after eating and didn’t bother with desert. The 6 of us who stayed were very disappointed. I had to ask the waiter for the desert menu twice and ended up going to the front desk to get them my self. Once the desert came out it was clear that this place had lost its former glory. The portions were less than half of what he had only month’s ago. Overall not one of us will be back. I would spend easily 180 their for my and my partner. For what? an hour to get our food. Terrible desert portions and slack service. Harsh review but is the voice of twelve people. if you want fine dinning and quality, try The Garlic Press. Now thats a good restaurant!

I attended a group dinner at this restaurant on the 27th April 2012, we arrived and were seated by 6.30 pm and did not receive our meals until 8.30pm. My order was the fish of the day and that is what arrive a piece of fish nothing else. My glass of wine cost $9.50 about the price of a bottle. The cost of the fish was $36.50. I felt ripped off and will definitely NOT be returning to this restaurant. Bill

I have been coming to get coffee from Eden sometimes on my way through Bell Block, however, it never had been quite how I enjoyed it until recently you seem to have acquired a new barista! (short, dark long hair) The coffee has improved significantly especially on my Monday rounds! Its amazing at the difference a barista makes in the quality of a coffee. Give this girl a pay rise, you are lucky to have her! Best Barista of Eden, I say!
