One of the best Italian Restaurants I have been to. The food is always superb, two portion sizes, and the mains are big. The service attentive and friendly (Italian staff), the prices incredibly reasonable, and it’s always packed with locals – always a good sign. Try the Sausage and Blue Cheese Gorgonzola – devine. And it’s in Devonport – what more could you ask for?

Have since been back to The Merchant (twice) and have been pleasantly surprised, food is good, and service, outstanding. It’s amazing what good service can do for a place. We will definitely be back.

We met a friend at the merchant, loved that there is heaps of heaters outside, lots of yummy dishes to choose from and they offer blankets to keep warm. Entree & mains were really good, we were all happy with the meals. Staff were really friendly and quick to help.
Only downside was that we ordered a bourbon and diet coke and it seems he had been given normal coke, as my partner is type 1 diabetic this made is blood sugars really high which is dangerous. Only other comment I would have is that we had been sitting outside having a pre drink and were super comfy but had to go back inside to order and pay, would have preferred to order at the table and have them taken our credit cards?
But we will be going back

It was great to return to Buon Venuti, and just as great to find things hadn’t changed. Still the “real deal” – true Italian food with a southern Italian influence, friendly prompt service, very reasonable prices. We enjoyed a good Chianti, gorgeous scallop entrees, very nice spaghetti marinara in a Neapolitan sauce and a to-die-for smoked salmon fettuccine. NO room for dessert! We’ll be back!

Dined here with four others. I had the crispy pork belly – and it truly is ‘as good as it gets’ – it was superb! The service and presentation was great. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely put this in as one of our favourite eating places.

Went there for lunch. Great service, friendly, polite. Yummy food, we had the Chicken sandwich on turkish bread and the Caesar Salad – the chicken in both was superb! Would recommend and go again.

We have now adopted this place as our fav restaurant. We take all our friends and consider ourselves locals now. The staff are fabulous, we like the choice on the menu and if you want something different ask. They are happy to accomodate. Gone are the days where you call a restaurant a local haunt, this delivers. They may on occasion be busy and the setvice is slower, but hey who wants to order and eat within an hour of arriving, what happened to a dining experience. I personall would recommend this restaurant… Slav and the team aleays make us welocome and the food is always to the same standard. Enjoy. We do

Decided to try this restaurant as local. Wish I had taken a look now at reviews. Meal was average but the Stand Out Point for myself and my friend was the arrogant and quite frankly disgusting attitude of the ?Owner or Management. We had a lovely pleasant waitress and found it very disturbing how she was treated and also openly for all patrons to hear. We hope she got her tip and hope this waitress has found other employment. If you are the owners time you left this type of business.

I used to love going to this restaurant. Went on the 21st April 2012 and the service was incredibly slow. On multiple occasions we had to go up to the waiters to ask for drinks and desert menus. The meals were very average…and the food was only slightly warm. One person in our group wanted a medium rare steak – it arrived with the bottom burnt black. Such a shame as we used to love going here. I don’t think we will bother in the future.
