We took my mum here for Mother’s Day and were extremely disappointed!!! Mum and I had the pancakes, which were like warm glue served with overly done banana and steamed (rather then grilled) bacon – Yuck! My sister ordered the french toast, which arrived to her soggy and drenched in maple syrup along with overly done banana and steamed bacon. I also ordered a side of ‘homemade hashbrowns’, turns out that is just mashed potato made into rounds and cooked briefly on both sides. We basically left complete meals on our plates but were never asked about our meals, although it was pretty obviously we didn’t enjoy the food. All in all, an awful meal and would will never go back.

We’ve dined here a few times now, both on our own and with friends. We love it – great food, excellent service, an all round good experience. Certainly a huge difference from when it was Rushes!

I went to Cafe Vella recently. The food was fantastic. Absolutely exquisite. The service was awesome, friendly, and appropriate. The timing of wait staff ‘interruptions’ was well planned and the waiter was friendly and entertaining and at the same time discrete. He made our evening special. Definitely going back. Thanks very much.

After a lovely walk around the Bird Sanctuary a friend and I went for a lunch & coffee at Groundup Cafe. Medium prices and very good coffee. I noticed quite a few people passing by in their trucks or vans popping in for takeaways. We sat outside in their courtyard in the sunshine which was very relaxing.

Absolutely awful. I am NEVER going back. I had the burger and my friend had the corn fritters. The fritters were not cooked and the salad (which was obviously from a bag) had been dumped in my burger. Neither of us ate our meals and will not be going back and would recommend everyone to go to somewhere else.

This cafe’s food is should seriously be considered as some of the best cafe food in Wellington. As I live in the area if friends are out we usually bring them here over the pepper mill or cafe vella. Easily best restaurant in the region. As far as their service, expect lots of young girls but the food more than makes up for it. Pancakes and BLT are especially good. Breakfast food in general is their strong suit.

I have been going here since they have opened and it’s in my opinion the best Indian restaurant in Porirua and coming second to the Great India in Wellington…. If you want a curry like you get in the UK these places come pretty close to them… Absolutely superb
