After reading some of the reviews on this site and another website, I was a bit dubious about going to this restaurant, yet when driving past it always has diners. So on a cool autumn evening (18th May) along with my husband I stepped foot into a nice warm restaurant. The food was great, the wine was lovely and the staff were pleasant. It is so nice to have a good local restaurant. It is worth a visit.

Took Ma and Pa out for a Mothers Day treat with my partner, for dinner on a Saturday night, we booked, and luckily we did – as it was fairly busy. The young waitress was hugely helpful – though, did not pour our BYO wine which was odd, she did however spy we had bubbles with us and supplied us with flutes which was nice. The four of us had bread/dips and three entrees to share… all entrees were amazing, the squid was delightful and in particular the pork/prawn combo was amazing… the duck salad was good too according to Pa. Four mains order ranging from fish of the day, a chicken curry and 2 steaks medium. All food was very nicely cook and myself and partner could not fault the steak. Veges on the side were fabulous too. Ma and Partner had puddings, both excellent. Wow, I do hope Quince keeps up the good work, finally somewhere worth going to for a treat night out in Warkworth!!! Really happy. I’ll definately give Quince another go. Have not been for breaky/lunch, but would highly recommend the dinner menu, and being BYOW is a real help for the budget, four adults well fed for $210. I’m pleased!!

Went here for breakfast yesterday not only was it amazingly expensive for the amount of food we got, we had to stop at McDonald’s on the way back to the motel because the kids were starving. $9.90 for 1 piece of french toast, a drizzle of maple syrup and a bit of cream, never again. We had to share our breakfast with the kids and still make a stop for more food. Our amazing dinner at a wonderful restaurant in Orewa the night before had cost less than this breakfast and we were all chocka by the time we had finished it.

My wife and I popped into the tasting shed a few Sunday’s back when the jazz was on next door at cooper’s creek. We walked into the shed where there were less than 4 other diner ‘s and were told by the hostess she was not sure where she could seat us! After some persuading on our part we were given a seat outside and things improved somewhat after that . We were dumbfounded by her attitude!

This restaurant has freshly smoked salmon (on the premises) And fabulous steaks. You get a healthy sized meal and the service is extremely hospitable. I brought my friends from New York last week and they would not stop raving about the Food!

We went to this restaurant based on the 41/2 star rating on this web site. We were greatly dissapointed, the food was disgusting and inedible. The carbonara was just cream and cheese and the hawain pizza was nothing but processed ham and cheese. All this said the staff were lovely, but i wont be going back.

Fantastic food and excellent, friendly service. This is our favourite restaurant on the coast and can’t rate it highly enough. Starters and mains are amazing and the couple who run this restaurant couldn’t be more accommodating.

Went there for Mothers Day dinner. Setting and decor were very nice however on Mothers Day the restaurant was three quarters empty! We were very disappointed as service was near non-existent. Due to this and the disappointing quality of our main courses we didn’t stay for dessert. Wouldn’t recommend.

Got to taste the yumminess of Kippers over the weekend. Had a massive order which was cooked and ready for when asked for and all was still hot and fresh, when we tucked into it. Would recommend to anyone who wants great service, reasonable prices and tasty tasty food that is light and fresh. I will defiantly be back again.

If I could get away with no stars on this review then I certainly would! Disgraceful service from what should be a glorious place to sit and have afternoon tea. This little cafe has a captive audience from the people that disembark the ferry cruises as there is no other cafe in the vicinity. Shame the staff have such bad attitudes and really bad taste in music. They were playing what I thought would be more suitable for a teenage clothing shop (and I’m only 30 something:-) so not too old, but this was quite out of place!) We were also treated like “Stupid Tourists” as we have English accents….. we are residents of New Zealand and have been for some time thank you. Please don’t assume….. All in all, like Trudy P said…. take a picnic! There are some lovely places along the trails with picnic tables and benches to take your picnic and look out over the scenic views.

I took my mum and my two girls to lunch on Mothers Day, the food was fantastic but the service was bad. 2 of our meals came 20 mins before the other two arrived so they had nearly finished when we had just started ours!!!!. We went to order dessert and coffee and they told us we couldnt as they needed our table for another group, I had pre booked and not just walked in off the street, Ive never had that experience before so much for supporting local Orewa I was very disappointed:(

Lunch at The Deck, first timers, awesome food, service was spot on and the coffee was so good. Reasonably priced to boot.

Tried Verve tonight and we were underwhelmed. It was a meal of two halves as my wife had scallops followed by smoke salmon which she enjoyed. I however, was totally disappointed. I had the Camembert entree – where was the camembert? Just tasted like deep fried filo pastry served with a ton of rocket. This was followed by an eye fillet which was apparently ‘seared’ with garlic butter. No, it was an eye fillet with a burnt top and bottom. This was also served with ‘Verve potatoes’ which is an undercooked baked potato which has then been flattened and then deep fried. Served with another ton of rocket. What about some veg?? Sorry, but it was crap. At no point were we asked if everything was ok with our meal, even after being presented with the bill! We expected better from somewhere that was charging the prices that they were and nobody seemed bothered that we were not happy. In hindsight, I should have paid them what I thought the meal was worth rather than what they asked for. Never again!

Lovely location, but such rude staff! Had to wait for ages until they had finished sitting down to their own afternoon tea before they would serve us with ours. They could do with a lesson in spelling for the menu too! If you are going to Kawau Island, I would take a picnic and a flask of tea! The saving grace was Solo the peacock, at least he was very friendly.

I had fish and chips and fried oysters. Best I have had for ages. I have tried the other fish and chips shops in Orewa and Captain Kirk’s tops them all, hands down for food and for service. Thank-you

We have visited Porcini many times and as well as a lovely friendly atmosphere, the food is always excellent ! Service is always with a smile :-) Takeaways are also to die for, pizza’s & pastas are great. We have tried out others in the area and Porcini always stands foot above the rest. Definatley our Favourite place to eat out.

Just left the restaurant. A disastrous night. Terrible service and terrible food. Tasted like the ingredients came out of a plastic bag. My partner returned her drink because it wasn’t what she was ordered and was eyeballed by the manager for the rest of the night. Love Thai food but if you have eaten real Thai you shouldn’t eat here. The worst restaurant experience ever. Minus 5 stars

I love the Bridge House… Have moved up to the area from Auckland. And decent meals are hard to come by up here. The food here is standard pub fare, but done well with consistency and to a standard you wouldn’t expect in a ‘pub’. The stand out dish for me at the moment would be the Pork Belly. The service is very good here, although when it gets busy it is hard to grab a waiters attention. Lovely wine list, with local additions such as Ascension The Druid Chardonnay, which is reasonably priced.
