I know pies! As do the people who run this cafe!!! Hands down, best pies for miles! Often stock up with a few on my way over to the coast.. never last long! Never had anything other than friendly service. Did see the owner tell one guy where to go but that was after the guy had been an abusive ass to the girl on the till. Good on him! More restraint than I would have shown!

Booked in late for mothers day based on reviews seen online. Am new to region so had no idea what to expect. Was happily surprised with the standard of service and cleanliness. Food was very nice and liked across a the age group at our table (3yrs to 80yrs). I am a vegetarian and was happy with the choice I made. Staff were pleasant and polite and overall it was a good experience. Will go back for lunch again with friends.

Had the high tea for two. Lovely little sandwiches, savories and sweet treats. Shared a pot of herbal tea (can’t remember the name, was meant to be infused with chilli/choc but didn’t really have that much taste unfortunately) The china, tea pots etc are perfectly lovely, so the place has a great feel until you get their tatty horrible cheap looking menus – please please update these, they are truly disgusting!!! would be four stars but its a few little things that really lets this place down from being as lovely as it could be – but overall still delightful place for morning or afternoon tea and was a pleasant experience.

A lot has changed since the first review in December 2007. The food is excellent but the staff lets the place down. On Sunday at two o’clock we were advised that the kitchen closed two minutes ago without any options. We choose something from the cabinet and were served with a sarcastic smile. A sad decline of a quaint roadside cafe.

Dragonfly Cafe & Gifts

We have just moved to Rolleston and I have been struggling to find a cafe that serves nice coffee, and have finally found it at Dragonfly! It is a lovely cafe with a nice variety of gifts as you walk in the door. I haven’t had any sweets there but they do look lovely but had one of their paninis and it was lovely. I think it is a great place and it will definitely be my local!
