22/05/2012I am in love with Thai food and have been to several amazing thai resturants in Auckland. I dinned here as I was in thames for my birthday and there wasnt many resturants to choose from. I hate to be so negative but this was horrible in comparison to the proper thai resturants I’ve been to. Our starters were okay, but the mains were far from. I ordered a chicken dish and the meat was extremly dry and tasted boiled. The sauce looked and tasted like it was out of a gravy mix. There was so much meat and hardly any vegetables and it was the same for the other people I was dinning with. Although the service was very good and the prices were resonable, I was very dissapointed.

Whitianga
22/05/2012Got told about this by friends when we were complaining about lack of available options on Friday nights after 8:30pm. It was great! The people were so friendly and accommodating, the food was delicious, easy atmosphere. Won’t bother driving all over town trying to find somewhere that will serve us when we arrive from Auckland. We will just head straight to Al Camino. It’s BYO which is always a bonus. Looking forward to going back there soon!!

13/05/2012Pleased to say we revisited Wild Hogs last night. It was a whole new experience compared to 10 April review. Obviously problems have been sorted. Hospitality was great, service couldn’t be faulted and food was great. We’ll be back. Well done and thank you.

Tapu
08/05/201216 of us booked for a Sunday lunch, none of us had been before but this cafe was recommended by a good friend. We were all impressed by the menu and the friendly service. The food was wonderful and quick to arrive even though they were busy with others arriving in a constant stream. Also a wonderful setting (and a lovely clean bathroom which is always appreciated.) We will certainly be back and would recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a great meal and great service.

Cooks Beach
29/04/2012What a major surprise! Once I learned on arrival that the food was similar to “Tapas” my heart sank. I’ve eaten tapas in Spain many times and am just not a fan. However, these small dishes, well, not so small really, are designed for the Kiwi appetite and the 6 of us would rate the food as good as any we had tasted….and it just keeps on coming! Congratulations, and please stay in Cooks Beach…unless you come to Auckland! Peter K

27/04/2012Went here the other night with my parents and the food was fantastic. Great portion size and very good value for money. Will definitely be stopping again on my way through from Auckland to Corro. Chef was friendly and was happy to hear we enjoyed his meal. I rate myself as a bit of a foodie and chatted to the chef and he is also a top food judge at very high NZ level. In short a must try. Delish!!

Whitianga
22/04/2012My partner and I drove from Auckland to Whitianga for the weekend. I didn’t know, but he had planned to propose to me. He decided he wanted the restaurant to help him on the evening, and he approached a well-established restaurant who deal in weddings to help him but they wouldn’t. Walking past Blonde, we were impressed with their menu. He walked in to book a table and chat to the chef – the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Anyway – dinner itself was wonderful. I had snapper and my partner had chicken served on a hot stone plate which we thought was very novel. Dessert came – he had asked the chef to write the proposal on my dessert plate and that was put before me which I thought was wonderful. The staff were so lovely. A great experience!
