Based on reviews we decided to meet up with friends for brunch/lunch and we were not disappointed. We were pleasantly welcomed with attentive service. The coffee was perfect for us and the food was good quality and value for money. We had the bonus of watching the Huntly Half Marathon as we relaxed. Will we go again? – Absolutely

We made a lunch stop here, and had a very pleasant meal -a chicken sandwich with a very generous covering of melted brie for me, and fish and chips for my husband, with two reasonably priced glasses of wine.

I call in here regulary on my way through in my truck, have done so for years, this place used to be good, previous owners have been ok, but now I wouldn’t go near the place, horrible smell in cooking/cashier area, smells like rotten sewage, staff cooking, then picking up flyswats and swating flys ABOVE COOKING GRILLS, then resuming cooking no hand cleaning, not to mention bad attitude by some staff, and others who do not understand nor speak english. I also have reason to believe that the hot and cold cabnits (pies/baking) are way off the safe temperatures. I have rung the health inspector about these things once before and as far as I know nothing was done, I went back to get milk 2 days ago, smell still there, I will not be eating here again.

Ive had takeaways from there on my way to the coromandel, stopped in and order a piece of fish and a couple of dollars worth of chips. When I unwrapped my takeaways I was disgusted! Not only was everything soggy and oily but there was a REALLY BAD FISHY SMELL! I took some of the batter off the fish and sure enough the fish did not look remotely fresh! I would not recommend there food to anyone! Also while I was waiting for my food I noticed a strong sewage smell in the bottom dining room area!(not near the toilets) What shocked me more was that I rang and complained and it seemed like they really didnt care.

This is a cafe where they ask ‘would you like flies with that’. You have to fight the flies to eat your food. I wouldn’t recomend the muffins or scones as this is where the flies seem to settle. As for the food from the cabinet I wouldn’t recomend the bac/egg slice or the rolls with bacon in we bought both of these to take with us on our journey the slice smelled seriously bad when we opend it and after seeing the fuzz growing on the bacon in the roll we turfed both and wont be eating their again. However if you like your chips dripping in fat and flies with your food you will love it.

Called into Cafe for Lunch whilst visiting my mother’s urupa at Whatawhata. Thought this would be a perfect venue for light refreshments for my mother’s unveiling. Found Linda & Donna very obliging and most helpful with organising the catering. The food that Donna provided was delicious and plentiful and everyone was very impressed. Very kind and understanding people and without a doubt would not hesitate in recommending this quaint and friendly Cafe. Don & Gayle Payne

What a shame. Beautiful location but it let’s down raglan in its culinary prowess. We were walking past and went in because the place was packed, which is a good sign. That was about the only good thing about it, apart from the decor which is set out well. After waiting about 20 mins for menus, we tried to find something that didn’t have fish or oyster sauce in the ingredients, whic was near impossible. Went for the salads…. They were not salads, unless you call onion salad. My beef was cut into bite size pieces, which resembled cat food in both looks and taste. My friend had the ‘minced’???? Chicken salad’ which looked as though they had substituted the chicken for onion. The wine was fantastic though Guys sort it out, you used to have a great name for yourself!
