This place has potential. Unfortunately it is boring. The menu doesn’t change. Service is marginal. Not offered more than one drink. The menus were dirty and torn. This place is run-down and no longer the place to go. Whangarei lacks reasonable dining and now Reva’s is off the list after recent experience.

I love going to Essence. There’s plenty of free parking nearby. The courtyard is lovely. The staff are friendly & relaxed. I enjoy the coffee & snacks; don’t usually have anything more than salad/sweet treats. I enjoy the Christian flavour of some of the wall hangings.

I have attended this restaurant in the past and hence the return to this place for another meal as I was happy with the service and meal. However I am Very disappointed, will never return to this restaurant and I definitely will NOT recommend it to my family, friends and any other person.

I’ve had many visits to Schnappa Rock Tutukaka for breakfast, coffees and dinners and the setting, atmosphere & food just keeps me coming back !! Great relaxed casual dining with friendly staff working for a very personable owner and candles set on rustic table/furniture in a beach hut/kiwi bach style building with marina/seaside views just magic. My favourite would have to be the green lip mussels with the most mouth wateringly good garlic bread, YUM! Recently had hapuku which was outstanding, fresh & cooked to perfection. The crew in the kitchen know their stuff! Numerous breakfasts had here also, their full breakfast is great. And they make the best iced tea I’ve ever had!

La Bella Pizza & Pasta

We order pizzas after a night out on the town. When we ordered the lady said it wouldn’t be long, after at least 45 minutes I went to complain about not having received our order. I was told that they could only cook 3 pizzas at once which was ok but they could of told us that at the time ordering. The people at the table next to us had ordered before us and they went to ask where their order was and it had been totally forgotten, the lady did explain they were under new management however they didn’t seem to have a proper system in place. I think they need to sort out their customer service as one of the ladies told me I better watch out she knows people in Whangarei, which I don’t think is very appropriate. A little more customer service would go a long way. The pizza once we got it was lovely.

Great food and very friendly. The fish is always yummy and i have never had bad food since theyve taken over. They also have raw fish and other tasty treats. I highly recommend them for anyone going through those ways.

I travel Northland as part of my job and I have nothing but good things to say about Essence. Since I started to go to Essence 4 years ago the food has been exceptional. The breakfasts are well presented and scrumptious. The lunches are varied and of good quality. The fact that i have been going to Essence for this long is a testament to the excellent service and quality of the food.
