Dining here on 2 Jan 2013 was a comedy of errors.
We arrived for lunch at 12.30pm. The cafe was busy but not completely full – there were at least five free tables. We ordered drinks & attempted to order lunch – only to be told there was a 30 minute wait on food. We were hungry so opted for the flatbreads special instead as it should be “much quicker”. I had wanted a steak sandwich but was put off by the 30 minute wait. The drinks came out – two wines – and one was wrong and had to be replaced. The waitress twice arrived at our table with lunch meals which were not for us. No one came to ask us if we wanted another drinks, when our glasses sat empty for at least 10 minutes. After 35 minutes (I should have ordered the steak as I had the wait anyway!!!) our flatbreads were wrong when they arrived (ordered chicken and salami, and instead received a chicken and a ham). The waitress literally dumped the plates and left in such a hurry we could not tell her of the error. We were unable to flag down another waitress and were so hungry we just ate the breads, which were quite tasty but hardly a good lunch meal (more like thick-based pizza bread). We went to pay and were charged for another table’s meal ($193!) and had to argue with the cashier before the error was believed.
All in all – would never go here again. All they have going for them is location – a lovely view of marina and they are the only cafe for miles so have a somewhat captive audience! Unsure if the poor service was due to understaffing (although there were plenty of waitresses rushing about) or just lack of training.

We have heard some very bad feedback about Revas over the years… but lately word has been getting out around town that they have drastically improved. In the last two months I have been there twice for lunch and am pleased that it seems the rumours are true!! First time we went, I had the lamb burrito with salad, and hubby had the lasagne. The service was fast and there was a very short wait for the food – and when it arrived the meals were huge! Loads of fresh green salad, and heaps of flavour. The second time we went I had the chicken/bacon pasta and hubby had the Greek salad, and again, fast service and huge meals. I am very glad this place has improved so much because it is in a lovely setting, has a great atmosphere, and now has good food/service to match! Will definitely be returning.

We took my parents here for a ‘thank you’ dinner for a favour they had done us. It was a Friday night and the place was booked out – this was evidently the reason the serving staff were run off their feet. Drinks took 20 minutes to arrive and the pizzas took an hour. Once they arrived they were reasonable, and we had leftovers for the next day. Overall, our feeling was one of disappointment – the restaurant seem to have become victims of their own success and can’t keep up with the orders. If you want to go here, ask for a table away from the kitchen/bar as for most of the night we were listening to the chef shouting (to himself? His team? Not sure!). We did get a small discount of $6.5 (25% off my pizza because it came out a lot later than the others due to the waitress putting it down as a takeaway, not a dine-in). Anyway, would recommend for a lunch or dinner early in the week – but if you book for a Friday night dinner prepare for a lengthy wait!

I frequently breakfast at DeLuca cafe. The food is fantastic. I usually get the same thing – scrambled eggs on wholegrain toast (there is a choice of wholegrain or white) with a side of bacon. The meal always comes out beautifully presented, with a side of tomato & basil salsa (in a little shot glass on the plate) and a spring of fresh herbs, usually thyme or lavender. For me, it’s the little things like the salsa, and the herbs, that really show some effort has been made into preparing my food. Coffee is always great too – a couple of coffees and a breakfast usually ends up costing around $23. The only thing is that if you are a large group (8 or more) you should probably book a table as there is limited space – they are usually quite busy.

Split is a great place to have dinner and/or drinks. The bar is split in two – a restaurant out the front, and then a bar / garden bar area out the back. If you want to dine on a Thurs, Fri, Sat you should book as it can get quite busy and there are a limited number of tables. The menu is varied and delicious, and the lunch menu is really great value for money. The staff are always very attentive.

I often get takeaways from here but have also dined in often. The food is consistently good, and plentiful (one takeaway order is enough for dinner and lunch the next day). The staff are very attentive when you’re eating in. My favourite is the Pad Thai – one of the best things about this place is that you can order any dish and then choose the meat you want (chicken, beef, or prawns) which gives you the choice of the whole menu if there’s only a certain type of meat you like. Their spring rolls (starter) are fantastic. It can get very busy so if you want to dine in on a Thurs, Fri, or Sat you should definitely book.

This is a great little cafe – I often stop in for a late breakfast. For approx $14 I can get a BELT (bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato) sandwich, and a side of fries. The food is always plentiful & well cooked. The menu is large and varied and the staff are happy to change dishes if you ask (i.e. no mayo, ‘hard’ eggs, extra bacon, etc). It’s more pleasant eating here in summer, as a lot of the seating is outside, but on a sunny winters morning it’s still good. The food is not super-flash, but there’s lots of it! It’s a great place to get a filling ‘hangover’ breakfast, or to have a brunch that will keep you going all day

We regularly go to Salut for dinner and/or drinks on a Friday or Saturday night. The atmosphere is great, always good music playing and I love the decor. There is a great wine list. I especially like the ‘curvy’ seating to the left of the bar and frequently have drinks with girlfriends here. When we have dinner, I book a ‘booth’ for my husband and I. The service is always fantastic, the wait staff are attentive and quick, even when the restaurant is busy. The starters are always a good size, and the menu has several interesting options – salmon poached in pinot noir, roast duck breast, lamb shanks (great in winter!), smoked venison. We’re always happy and have a great night here.

I had a work function at Tahuna Reef for lunch. I was not impressed at all. The place was mainly empty, and I never like dining in a nearly empty restaurant. I think having photocopied menus is terribly shoddy – how hard would it be to run off some colour copies and get them laminated at least? Our food took a long time to arrive and our waitress was very inexperienced, and when she was bringing our food to us she had her thumbs hanging over the edges of the plates, nearly in the food itself. I won’t be coming back because, at the price they charge, the overall dining experience should be pleasant and not so… amateur. Whoever bought this place and changed it from Gybe should have perhaps bought a cafe, not a ‘fine dining’ restaurant.
