Great to have something in Leamington and the building is very well done. While new, it feels like an old hunting lodge.
Went for brunch but it is more se tup as a bar with a restaurant as a semi after thought.
Service was the biggest thing to bring this place down. It appeared only two people where working in a rather large dining room. Once we finally got served it was friendly and good service.
Food the the fully cooked breakfast was large enough for me but was mainly egg, only a single sausage (not a breakfast one), small amount of bacon, mushrooms and half a tomato. The toast was meant to be cabbiata while it was it was a cheap commercial copy and more bread than cabbiata. All in all well cooked and not a bad price.
Your coffee could do with some work though.

Is it to much to expect them to turn up together.. Muffin arrived then the coffee five minutes after finish eating it..
Muffin was ok, nothing flash quite large though but comes with a tiny desert fork.. Pray tell how you are meant to cut, butter and eat this monstrosity with a tiny fork..!!??
Coffee was not bad when it finally arrived..

With only seven tables this is a very intimate restaurant.. You would think a roaring open fire in the middle of summer would not work but it does here..!
You need to book, especially on a weekend or Friday night due to the limited tables..
Food is to die for, service is almost as good..
Everything on the menu looks divine and it is as good as it reads. Had the Pork and my wife had the Venison for mains, beautifully cooked and presented and you don’t need additional sides as after three courses you walk out full but not stuffed..
Service is very attentive and super friendly which makes a nice change.
If there is a down side it would be the restrooms, they are an after thought..

Nicely done Thai decor and not too over done and a fantastic view out over the city

Very good selection of food from a variety of Asian regions.. Fantastically prepared and nicely presented.
Size of dishes is more than adequate for most people, but having to order rice etc as an extra is unusual. There is a good selection of rices, this is likely the reason for ordering seperately and the coconut rice is my favourite.
Restaurant is rather crowded and badly set-out and very noisy. The wooden seats are a bit uncomfortable if you are there for a while.
Service is very dependant on who you get as one visit the waitress was fantastic and the next time not so flash
Cost is on the average side for Auckland and the food is value for money considering the quality and presentation.

Went as a group of seven so was not easy fitting us in with small tables. Also the place was so HOT was sweating just sitting still and felt cramped.
Some of the food we received was fantastic.. The Corn Fritters and the Eggs Benedict were very nicely done. The French toast was well below average.

A very well priced restaurant in the centre of town with a variety of asian food. The Banana Prawns are to die for but expect to get food on your fingers but they give you hand wipes so no big deal.
The only two things that let this restaurant down is the desserts (Very common in asian based restaurants) and the meal garnishing/presentation could be better.

Went for coffee and cake the other day and have to say after not being there for a year’ish or more, the Carrot Cake is fantastic. Was beautifully presented and one of the best carrot cakes I have experienced, except my wife’s…!

Went for coffee and cake with family as it had been a few years since last visit and I have to say pleased to see a fantastic improvement. This is in the Cafe itself but also the service and food, well worth the small drive out of your way to visit Boatshed.
Cakes were fresh and beautifully made full of flavor and taste. The hummingbird and Chocolate brownie were to die for.. Coffee was hot but not burnt and well made.
Service was quick even though they were busy, staff were attentive and were interested in your feed back which was nice to see.

Firstly, only went for coffee and cake… Thought we would try somewhere new and that was our first mistake.
Coffee was average; warm not hot plus rather weak and there was more froth than coffee.
Cakes, were revolting is all I can say… They were at least three days old and stale, the sweet muffin had hard lumps of unmixed flour and was completely void of taste. The Chocolate brownie was like eating a mouthful of sand and was a cake mixture made with coco rather than true chocolate like a true brownie.
Admittedly we did get a credit for the muffin but not for the brownie but worst of all NO apology..

Was a nice touch that they allowed selection from the breakfast menu at midday but they did say NO to start with..
Coffee was ok but they need to learn the difference between a Flat White and a Latte..
Pricing was good considering the location at the Viaduct, so if you are after an ok well proportioned, well cooked meal not a bad place to try.

The waiting staff deserve to work at a better restaurant as they are BEST thing about Cyprus Tree and the only reason you even get ONE Star. As for the rest it is all down hill.
Food- bland, boring and badly cooked. Steak was almost raw, Blue cheese risotto was missing the cheese and the tastiest item on the plate was the salad leaves. The veal was so over cooked it was almost shoe leather.
Pricing was on the high side considering this is only a basic restaurant.
Complaints were raised with waiting staff and passed on to front manager they were not acknowledged or even referenced when paying the bill. The front manager is the one that gave us our bill and this women is obnoxious, so try and be served by anyone BUT her if you are unfortunate enough to go here.

Big Breakfast.. You have got to be joking, right.. Dry toast that looked like it has run passed the butter and missed, two small sausages barely the width of a pencil, hash browns that were so hard they would break your teeth.
Eggs Benedict where did you hide the hollandaise sauce as it sure was not on the eggs.. Bacon that had been left outside to dry for a week..
Frosty waiter when asked for butter said.. “Its already on the toast..” we are still looking..!
On the upside the coffee was good
Left to go to Mc Donald’s for their big breakfast as we were still hungry but $100 poorer..

Found the restaurant to very VERY cold and ambience was soul-less.. As for the waiting staff are they even old enough to serve alcohol.? Scruffy shorts and tee shirt.. really, this is a restaurant not Mac Donald’s..!!
Forgot our meal as we had to wait over a hour between entree and main. It appears that the takeaways takes precedence over the restaurant for food delivery. We asked our entree to be served with main but wasn’t.
Food was okay but nothing to write home about and the bowl made out of fried noodles was novel and the only reason for two stars.

Tables were dirty as were the chairs so not very hygienic, with the staff just wiping the food crumbs from the table beside us onto the floor.
Food was okay, nicely presented but bread for my Beef Burger was a bit stale and the patty was VERY small. It was a VERY expensive burger in my mind considering you only get a burger and nothing else for $18.95.

Went for the $10 lunch as blackboard outside showed some nice meals. Waiter took our order for the meal which was fine, we hadn’t yet made our mind up for the drinks, so he said he’d be back in 5 mins.
20 mins later…he took our drinks order.
Some meals had the option of a side dish of fries or chips for an extra $3.50 which was fine. We all ordered a pizza each as we were really hungry, ordered a side of ‘curly fries’ we could all share.
All good and fine, pizzas were lovely with the small bowl of curly fries. Time to pay the bill and were charged $10 for the ‘small bowl’ of curly fries…Just about fainted. They cost more than the 200ml bottle of bubbly we ordered !!!!!!!! Questioned it, all the did was shrug their shoulders and say we were charged the ‘bar snack’ price… What a rip off !! Won’t be back. The food was very well cooked and well presented, the quantity of food on the plate was just right. So it did not you leave bloated or hungry after three courses.
Their beer list is impressive at nearly 20 pages and many I have not seen before and some of the fruit beers were quite tasty.
The Restaurant is more in the Cafe stile than restaurant so bit noisy with wooden floors but is very well appointed.
Service is one place that lets them down, it is very disjointed with you being served by just about every waitress/waiter with varying levels of service quantity. Some very exceptional, other not so much.
From a drinks perspective the wine list was very limited with less than one page covering White, Red and Sparkling. But saying that most of the wines listed are/were gold medal winners..

Good little cafe, only been there for lunch and coffee. Good food collection that is home made and well presented and pleasant waiting staff but no over enthusiastic.
Fantastic art and ironwork and worth a visit for that alone..

Great family restaurant, good food at the slightly higher side of the market and 50x better than the old Cobb & Co that used to be there..
Food selection was good, food well presented and full of taste and well propositioned. Open kitchen which made for an interesting perspective and you can watch your meal being created.
We had a issue while we were there and the professional manner this was dealt with was outstanding by both the duty manager and our waitress 10/10.. We will be going back

2012 – Since my last visit here in 2010&2011 GPO has gone so far down hill it is unbelievable.
Cheap and nasty photocopied menus on a single page like you used to get a Pizza Hut (but at least their were printed in colour).
Basic Bar menu with no fine dining food listed but it was cooked OK and that was the only satisfactory part about our visit.
Don’t know what the new owners (Assumption) are doing but they clearly do not know how to run restaurant.
And please insure your serving staff have a shower before work and at least try and dress nicely/tidily..
2010 – I have to say the food here has improved over my last visit and I am disappointed to only give them three stars.
Menu was quite small with not many options but the food was beautifully cooked esp the steak so compliments to the chef.
What really let GPO down was the waiting staff, we had to ask for wine and drinks, food was delivered without cutlery and I am sure our waitress was more interested in drooling over another customer that caught her eye than serving.

I have to say I have only had their pizza and desert on three visits. The pizza’s are very bare and you need to order extra toppings personally. Good service though and the deserts are very nice.

Good from a pub, pizza’s are very nice, prices are not excessive. Service is good, pity for the location (Stuck between Pak-n-Save and FTC) as it would be nicer with a bit more room also the toilets are in a very unfortunate location.

Been a few times here over the years, was much better when it first opened but is constantly good food. Pricing is ok, service is normally very good, great on a summers afternoon sitting on the balcony overlooking the river…

This is a good restaurant, not fantastic as I think it is trying to be to much to to many with the Cafe, Shop and Restaurant in one. Service was ok, we had a trainee for our meal and not enough support was given by senior staff. Food wad good, well cooked but quite expensive for what is was, the menu online is nothing like the current menu (Their own web site as well as here..) Nice surroundings but being a cafe as well they were not outstanding.. Would I go back, yes for coffee and cake but not likely for dinner

Went for a Birthday party with friends.. Went for the banquet, while the food was quite good, the amount of food was on the low side and we had to keep asking for more. Staff were nice and the prices were not too bad.
Update Sept 2010 – Well as a yearly tradition for a friend that always wants go to this restaurant.. The Sahara Tent has got worse and we will be changing restaurant for next year. The food has gone down hill, and with the banquet you have to ask for the food constantly as they just DON’T want to bring you more and the staff are rude and abrupt. The waitress stood on my foot five times in two hours and gave up apologizing after the third time, there was no apple tea, no turkish delight… and this is a Turkish restaurant……

I don’t say this much but I would stay away from Knights on Albert, you would think a restaurant associated with the Stamford Plaza would be exceptional… The food is badly prepared and don’t start me on the deserts that look like they have been left out for a week. Service is very average.

Food was very good, well prepared and well made but was all a bit rushed. Only issue with the last time we ended up with a trainee… Don’t have an issue with people not knowing what they are doing but she had no support from other staff so was making ALOT of mistakes..

Good prices and good food, been there for coffee and lunch many times and very happy. Only issue is at times service can be a little slow if they are low on staff.
2011, New owners. Food not so good any longer, feels like it is not fresh, service has plummeted and you can no longer eat outside in the sun.

Buyer beware.. By no means is this a Italian restaurant, let alone a below average restaurant. I am sure my six year old could cook better than there chef, if you are after a very basic meal that is eatable and don’t mind paying high prices then this will suit you. If you are after good quality food for a good price then this place is not for you there are much better paces in the same area..
