Excellent every time we dine here. The ‘trust the Chef’ selection is a great way to go taking the hard choices right out of your hands. Local produce seem to be used where possible and the staff will even tell you where you can go locally to buy some of the produce to take home. Not the place for a quick lunch as the whole experience needs to be savoured. The wines are of course also excellent. Great outside dining area and on a cool day they even provide you with a blanket for your knee, a great and much appreciated service touch (it is Central Otago after all). Our favourite stop on the way to Wanaka.

Loved everything about this dining experience. The menu is well thought-out and the meals flavourful & filling. We originally tried their Chef’s food when he was at Pegasus Bay Winery in Waipara, great then and even better now! The Best meals we have ever had anywhere in Wanaka. The wine list is extensive and has a great local selection. The waiter, I believe also the manager, was very attentive and full of advise and knowledge about food & wine matching. Great wine glasses and beautifully set white linen tables. A must try as a dining out experience when next in Wanaka, we will definitely be back.

I agree with the other reviewer, just poor all round. Terrible service! Slow and uncaring from everyone involved. The waitress even served us in BARE FEET, yes completely bare! Yuck, we have dinned in many hotels all over the world and never had that happen. We even had to open our own wine not once but twice because after 5Min’s of tiring the waitress was unable to get the remainder of the cork she broke out of the bottle, again I say twice. But cant bring myself to solely blame the waitress this is clearly a lack of training. Shame.

I think they sell the best pies in town, and the sliced bread they make fresh each day is excellent! So soft in the middle and with a crisp chewy crust, last well to because it comes in a over-sized loaf. Friendly quick service.

We have eaten here on several occasions with mixed out comes. We have learnt a few things; sit outside if possible as it is nice out there and inside is far to loud, noise and distracting with the TV screens playing music videos. The service has always been very friendly and mostly efficient. Although on a couple of occasions we have had meals that have been OK and not much more, under flavoured, over-cooked and stodge. We have also had some really lovely soups, a meal in themselves and the platter is fantastic in both quality and price; perfect to share with a Rabbit Ranch P/Noir at lunch time. So pick your day and your meal carefully and you should be happy.

I have to agree with the other review; we dined there recently as a small group and all of us were very disappointed with not only the food but also the service. The main upsets for me personal were the over cooked Bluff Oysters, so over cooked they were like rubber and the lamb I had although ordered M/R was also what I would call M/WD to WD, just a shame! Unfortunately the smell in the restaurant (musty) was unpleasant and again we all commented on it. To be fare and correct before writing this review we have dined at Flannagans Seafood Restaurant twice and nether was good so feel it is far to say we will not be returning.

Wow had not been here for years and now wonder what had I been missing out on? The night started with a warm welcome and an offer to sit in the bar and have pre-dinner drinks in front of the roaring fire (think the chef was tiring to cook us) but just so lovely we stayed and shared a bread platter. Finally had to pull ourselves away from the fire and went to the table, I had a Pork Belly that melted in my mouth; Husband had the Beef Fillet topped with calamari a huge meal but very delicious, cooked just the way he wanted. Our friends both had the Pernod & Garlic Prawns with rice and salad, a smaller meal but the sauce was to die for. Desserts, yummy sums it up. Wine list is large and very impressive mostly NZ wines (not many by the glass though.)
The service was friendly and polished.
Over all the best night out we have had in Invercargill in many years. We will be back.
