The food at Mexico is a contrast to the typical interpretation of Mexican food served in New Zealand – petite servings, no stodge and delicate flavors.
The atmosphere in the dining area is really unique and I think it would make a great start to a big night out for a group of friends.
We enjoyed a range of dishes for lunch and all of them impressed us.
Mexico is definitely better suited to a group who want to enjoy Sangria and a range of small dishes to share.

We enjoyed marinated feta (delicious), chilli pizza bread, marinara and another seafood pasta dish for lunch at Portofino.
Polite, prompt service a nice atmosphere and decent food.
This isn’t fine dining but it’s great value for the money, our lunch came in at around fifty dollars.

My favorite pub in Auckland.
The beer here is excellent and often cheaper than commercial stuff found at chain pubs. Bar staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere and venue are superb, especially on a bright summer day.
The food is awesome and complements the beer well. The ribs have to be tried, they’re fantastic. I can recommend all of the platters though, all generous and delicious.

A group of three of us had lunch at Blankenberge last weekend. A limited lunch menu was presented by the friendly bar staff. We selected two Lamb Roasts and a chicken pie.
The lamb was good, the chicken pie was tasty albeit very small and not the sort of hearty pub food one would expect. However, I thought the price for the food was reasonable (especially for Auckland) at around $20 a dish.
What pushes the rating down to two stars is the obscene cost of beer here. Stella is NOT craft beer and it certainly should not command a price of $13.50 for 500ml (this is the cheapest beer on the menu). None of the tap beer is particularly flash (just commercial Belgian stuff) so I’d recommend going to a craft beer pub if that’s your thing.
Wine list is good and more reasonably priced. Overall it’s a nice enough venue with friendly staff, but there are much better options in Auckland – we won’t be returning.

We ate at Raviz last night using a voucher, which gave us two drinks, two main dishes and a platter starter for under $40.
We were very pleasantly surprised by Raviz! The service was friendly, the food was good and very generous considering we used a voucher – we had to take some home in a doggy bag!
The dining area is a little bit “cosy” but apart from that I strongly recommend the place.
Will definitely return as the menu is excellent value and the food is very tasty.

This is one of our favourite restaurants in Auckland.
The environment is warm and cheerful. The staff are attentive, knowledgeable and very friendly.
We’ve visited many times and tried just about everything on the extensive menu. Everything is delicious, beautifully presented and we love the way food is brought to you as soon as it’s ready. Some of the dishes are even cooked in front of you on the table (the curries are fantastic!).
The restaurant is a little on the pricey side but it’s well worth it. Remember to book, Musashi is always busy.

This place is hilariously bad. We booked a table of four, with two of us having the “unlimited” ribs and two ordering from the menu.
The first menu order was the Sunday Roast. This consisted of two microwave warmed chicken legs (cold inside), a soy sauce gravy and what appeared to be random food scraps. The lamb salad was a few scraps of lamb and a bit of salad.
The first plate of “unlimited” ribs was three ribs with a coffee rub. These were tasty, albeit very salty. We asked for another plate of ribs and we were presented with a plate of two ribs and three ribs. Still hungry (the ribs don’t have a lot of meat on) we ordered a third plate. After a long wait we got two ribs each, which we ate then ordered a fourth plate. This last plate had a single rib on it. After that we were told that they had “run out” of ribs. At this point we got up and left.
“Unlimited” ribs turned out to be about eight ribs over an hour and a half.
The service here is hopeless and rude, the food is terrible and the music is worse. Avoid at all costs.

We dropped in here for a quick late dinner. We ordered plain curry, chicken kushiage and a large sashimi and sushi dish.
The service was polite and efficient and the atmosphere was relaxed.
The food was OK but a little basic for the price. The sashimi serving was small and the Sushi was little better than typical takeaway fair. The dishes lacked the finesse which can be found in other Japanese restaurants in the city. The curry was tasty and the chicken kushiage was good.

The atmosphere is tranquil, the food is generously served, beautifully presented and delicately flavored.

The food here is quite good, but unfortunately the terrible service makes it taste bad.
We were served by two waiters who had only a very limited grasp of English, which wasn’t much of a problem as we could point at our order. However, the waiter forgot to order one of our mains and also forgot to bring our drinks and had to be prompted twice. When the missing main finally arrived after we re-ordered it our rice was cold and our patience was running thin.
We felt very unwelcome at Sichuan and we certainly will not return.
