We enjoyed a hot rogan josh, aloo mutter and the obligatory mild butter chicken. All were awesome and handy having delivery. The currys were all delicious, perfectly spiced, and we will definitely be ordering again. Delivery initially forgot the samosas, but was happy to drop these around again.

Both myself and my partner visited Charlotte and enjoyed dinner, We both ordered steaks and a wine. The service was great and the restaurant also tidy and clean. We chose the sirloin – our steaks were a little tougher than expected, but good flavor. Considering we used the entertainment card we enjoyed our time – it was a quick meal and everything went as expected.
Nice choice of wines by the glass, I enjoyed a Spanish red.

I’d happily go back, and it would suit larger groups of 4-6 quite well also.

I’ve been to Hede many times over the past years and have always been happy with the food, its tasty and we leave empty plates. I find the seats very uncomfortable, and the service can be hit or miss.

The set menus are good. If you are after good Japanese food at a good price, but can happily sit in wooden seats – this is good.

We visited for dinner with our two kids and enjoyed the riisjtaffel which was a good way to sample many things. There was a good combination of items and some unusual things that we have never tried before. The portion sizes were just right and we all enjoyed the meal (Both kids ate fantastically).
The service was friendly and entertaining. We’d go back for sure but next time try some of the other menu items like nasi goring – that looked good.

We visited for breakfast and had the full breakfast, eggs on toast and coffees. We did switch some of the order around and this was handled very well. Both the coffee and food was good, service was good and it seemed to be a well used point, it was quite busy for mid week. I’d recommend it as a nice place for breakfast/brunch or lunch.

We visited Dragonfly on a Friday with a deal voucher – in our case the voucher was passed on from a good friend who managed to book his holiday before he could use the voucher – fantastic for us as we were keen to try.
We turned up about 6:50 (voucher needed to be used by 7) and after getting past the entry point where there were apologies being made to the people in front of us for booking mix ups – we were told to go to the back into the bar area. Walking through the restaurant was pleasant – I did not realise it was so long!, and it was pretty busy. We were greeted by one of the bar staff, who did a fantastic job of explaining what was covered by the voucher – he found us a table in the bar area – he was great. It was a busy night, and there is a lot of noise in the bar area – but that’s OK, its a bar.
Part of the deal we had was 4 drinks (which sav / pinot was fine, but no chardonnay or other choices for wine available) and a “platter” of snack foods. Up to this point we were happy, but this is where is started to go downhill.
Our drinks arrived, all 4 at once … but thats OK (it was a platter for 4) and the platter arrived, a selection of food in a large steaming basket. We don’t know what it was, it was just dumped there, no explanation ….. we can figure out edamame beans, some dumplings, some other balls with mayo, some chicken (I think – it is dark) things and some prawn crackers. I have no idea what we were eating in some cases, it was best guess. The balls with Mayo .. who knows, the dumplings were burnt and there was a large gristle/bone piece in one, the chicken (I think it was chicken) was coated in a batter/breadcrumb but it was badly burnt. The prawn crackers and edamame beans were fine, but overall the food was very disappointing.
The whole aim of the voucher system is to get people in without having to shed a wallet full of cash and convince them to comeback ! This failed so badly.
I can’t comment on the main dining area and I don’t want this to just be a complaint session – I am sure (as judged by there many happy people) they can do well, perhaps this was the wrong time and place for us.

We visited The Establishment on a Saturday about 8 and used a deal voucher for a meal. We have been in the past and had mixed impressions but the voucher was a good deal. We had the option of a main an extra side and a drink for the both of us. We talked a lot with the service staff (there were 2 for the upstairs area) to make sure we were within what our voucher will allow. We ordered two steaks, one sirloin, one rib eye with bacon – both came with sides so we didn’t order the extra sides. The steaks were delicious as were the accompaniments of mash and salad. We ended up ordering a few extra drinks, and they offered us a desert to share because we didn’t use our sides – that was fantastic.
The two service guys we had were fantastic – overall I rate the whole experience very well – just as any dining experience should be.

One extra point – we have been in the past and they used to have a poncy menu .. out of the league of what they are (a good pub grub specialist) … the current menu is varied, and priced very well for the audience. I would happily go back again, and even in groups of 5-10 it would be good.
No hesitation about a 4 start mark .. and considered 5!

Yum. We have been here many times, with groups of 2 – 6. Bigger groups you will need to book.
This last time we enjoyed a Delicious Tom kha gai soup for starters and stuffed chicken wings. The tom kha gai soup was the standout dish of the meal and next time I will get that as a main. We also had roti with peanut sauce (nice roti) a chicken noodle and vege and one more – bit I think we over ordered – we were way too full to finish the food.

Always happy to return, with the entertainment card it makes a good price as well (their wine you can purchase is well priced or you can BYO)

We had a lunch when passing through – beef burger and open chicken sandwich. Both of these were simple and tasty with salads & chips. Very much pub fare but well done.
I’d be happy to go back again and try a dinner or lunch again.

Came here for an early dinner and loved the steak. The place look a bit cold and sterile from the outside but inside is cool, lots of different spaces. Good beers, good food, good service – no complaints from me other than looking forward to the next visit.

We visited Ti Koura last week for a quick business lunch – it just happened to co-incide with Wellington on a plate so burgers we ordered ! The lamb and ricotta burgers were great – good coffee and good service, I have no complaints, and with a busy restaurant they managed to satisfy our time constraints. Very happy – it was my first time there and would be happy to go back again.

We ducked in for lunch after reading the review in the Weekender by David Burton. I was there with my son and we ordered Chicken Korma and beef rendang – both delicious. I kicked myself for not ordering a spicier meal – it would have been better – but that is my fault.
I’m looking for excuses now to grab some takeaways at night from here …. great food at fantastic prices!
Keep it real

My partner and I visited two souls and enjoyed the service and food – both delivered in attitude and taste. I ordered the Beef tornadoes, fillet steak wrapped in bacon and it was lovely – the sides of potato and sauces worked perfectly. We have been back a few times, but haven’t booked so went elsewhere – once we get organised we will book and enjoy Two Souls again.

We went for lunch and hoped to enjoy a good curry. The service was good, and friendly but the food was a bit of a let down. We tried Butter Chicken, Chick Tikka Masala and a Lamb korma. All of which failed to deliver on expectations.
Perhaps its the time of day but we left having eaten, but unsatisfied.

We visited about 8 on saturday night and the restaurant was busy. We ordered mains, there was some choice but not a very wide ranging menu as I would have expected. The food was good, I had the adana which had good flavour and spice and was very tender. My partner had a chicken dish which was also good. both came with the standard salad and garnish. The wine list is all mid range and very well priced – they are byo but for the wine prices they charge I would order from their list next time.
In terms of gripes, we went on an entetainment card, and this made prices fine, but just short of 30 for their mains is ovepriced, and the bathrooms need some TLC.
I would go back with a voucher, but not full prices.

I’m in the process of building a pizza oven at home and its because of places like this that serve delicious authentic wood fired pizza. I call in often for a lunch pizza and never disappointed. Service is good but the location is a bit out of the way. There are limited seats so well suited for takeaway.

I visited Craft with 2 work colleagues and enjoyed a few beers outside in the sun. Its a very good spot for late afternoon rays and people watching. We ate tuna and blue cod, both well cooked. I would happily go back again.

Had a business lunch here and it fitted the bill perfectly – good food, top notch service. No complaints, if you need a professional place with all the trimmings this is a place to go.

We had fish and steak with a bottle of wine, all done well.

We went to the Cheeky Pipi for lunch with a entertainment card voucher … fantastic – lovely in the conservatory and the food was delicious. Visited with 2 adults, 2 kids and a visitor .. all enjoyed the food, shame it soo far from home, Island bay residents have it good.

I’ve done coffees and Lunch many times and always enjoyed myself and the food. They can be busy, but the wait isn’t an issue. I’d recommend the burger for lunch, or a bowl of coffee

Simple food – nothing to rave about, but not bad either. There is a lot of competition in this area, its mid town.

I’ve eaten here 2 or 3 times and always enjoyed it, don’t look at the prices – pick the food you like and you wont be disappointed. Its not the cheapest but its good food and I always look forward to going back. A friend raves about the burger, its meant to be made from all the off cuts from the good steaks .. I’ve always preferred to go for a tried and trusted steak.

I pop in here for lunch now and then and its a good place to have a quick work lunch/meeting. They have a nice buffet to choose form with some traditional and some odd combinations … well worth it and nice food.

Good food, good service. Nice little hidden place in Wellington, love the lunch of eggs/bacon/toast and coffee for $10 – how can you go wrong with that .. perhaps I should keep this secret to myself

Arizona is always a good place to dine, simple food, burgers, Mexican theme. Good with families or for a simple bite or drink.

Update – October 2011 – they have started charging a credit card surcharge, and price increase .. its turned it from a simple but good / price right place to overpriced.

I’ve been here many times for yum char and the food is good, but it get s a bit too busy. Recently (twice) I have also been for dinner twice and absolutely loved the place. Great food, great choice, very helpful waiters and its BYO, what more can you ask for in the location of Courtney Place.

I really enjoyed dinner here, and will definitely be back for more.

We went here as a group of 4 on a voucher and loved it, the only complaint was order carefully .. you wont be able to eat it all !

I’m looking forward to going back again but this time more restrictive on the menu choices so I can enjoy more without feeling too full.

Nice restaurant a bit out of the way, service was good, although only one person on the night we visited – it was mid week. The food was good, but no excitement factor – I’d expect more authentic from NAM.

Went here for lunch with family. It was good pub food, service was attentative and pleasant garden area on a nice day.

Visited on 3rd Jan with partner and two kids. We
ordered burgers, fish and chips and Caesar salad. All very good. We were very happy with our meal and experience and would happily return.

We visited for dinner befor Wow, and were happy with out food and service. We let them know we had some time pressures and they were helpful and meals arrived in good time. Good service and food and beer choices are all good pub food.

Went for an early lunch and was not impressed. I was there with my partner and 2 kids, arrived just before 12 and food took over 45 minutes to arrive – I can understand if they were busy but no warning given. Overall the food was disapointing, scrambled eggs way overdone, steak sandwich was small for the price. The big bowl of porridge looked good. They did knock off some from the bill so thats appreciated, and they stated they knew it woudl be slow – just wish they said that first up.

Today I had lunch with a friend and we both choose the fish. The dish was nice overall, althought slightly salty – but good. It was busy and they do get a lot of people into a small location. I’d go back without question.

I’ve eaten here on many occasions and the staff are friendly, and the food is of a good quality. Its not the best thai I have had but consistent.

Had dinner there with me, my partner and 2 kids – for $35 I cant complain at the cost. Service is fast and taste is good. Good place for cheap eats.

The library used to be the bar attached to Chow, but now it has its own look and feel. Drinks are good and its quite a cosy place. Have not tried the food but it looks good from what I have seen from others.

Motel is a cool place to go for a drink or even a bite to eat (or even a cigar!).
Try the blue cheese and apple sandwich, for $5 you cant go wrong!
Also the bartenders are happy to be creative and make a drink that suits your tastes in case you cant find on on the menu. All ways a favourite place to go.
It is hard to find though – down the alley and ring the doorbell or sometimes through chow.

This is a haven for busses to stop, tourists to get out and make a choice between pies or chips. Food was bad.
The only positive is the farm area that kids can get out and stretch their legs.

Went here whejn driving to Taupo. The food we had was from the cabinet and these things were fine, but not great. They did have a menu you can order from and they looked good. A good place to stop if you want a break on the road.

Healthy options and many gluten / dairy free options. Staff were friendly and lookign forward to going back.
We had the Breakfast burger, pancakes and french toast and all superb.

Went for dinner here and service was good but the food was below average for what I expect at Thai. Fish cakes were rubbery and dry, black pepper beef had no black pepper and chicken, chili and basil had no chili or basil. The soups were good and no issues there. Others seem to rate this place and others we overheard in the restaurant also mentioned good things – perhaps it was what we ordered, but I cant tell. We would not go back, and would try other choices in Taupo.

Not quite sure about this one – I rate the bar and location as great – nice outdoor seating, good all year, winter and summer. There is always a wide range of people there which makes life interesting. Food wise – I dont rate it so well. Tends to be good food, but a little overpriced.
Definately back for drinks, but elsewhere for food.

This place has changed hands a number of times – but I always find the staff here helpful and friendly. It has a very relaxed atmosphere. Food is interesting – nice choices of tapas and very wide drinks selection – some nice emersons beers and other good things to try!

Moved from Courtney place where I would give it 5 stars – now seems out of place on Cuba. Much quieter but they have tried to keep the same look and feel and it just makes for a dark, plain cafe. Coffee and food are good – but sadly as a place I would always go to on Courtney – this no longer ranks on a place to return to.

Beautiful location – if you can get a window seat it almost makes up for the food. Choices consist of pan or fried fish with some token other meals and a salad bar. Very impersonal.
They seem to do a wonderful trade with older patrons – perhaps there is a rest home or 2 nearby.
This may be best for older or very young people – but I suspect most working age adults will not be impressed.

This is a place you need to knwo what to expect …. good tasting food, but small portions – relaxed dining. Not a plce to go for a quick lunch. Tends to be on the high price side for what you get.
Again – if you are expecting this you will be happy.

Went here while in Chch on business – must have picked a bad night because I had a hour long wait for a table. Waitresses were helpful and food was of normal lone star standard. Always a asfe bet – but watch your eyes .. make sure they match your stomach – full meals are large. Would go back .. but would book.

Been here a few times over the recent years. Traditional pub food – the only thing I’d say is that it can all feel a little pre-prepared …. but thats pub food. Relaxing place on a sunny afternoon having a beer.

Wagamama’s is always good food. We go often with or without kids. Service is prompt and consistent. It would be nice to get food at the same time … but I guess this is all part of the restaurant. Will go back for sure ..

Always a good time at Daawat. We always order too much – the kids size portions (When you have kids on tow) are a good size. Staff are friendly. We even got a complimentary chocolate naan!

Been here a coupe of times now for yum char but sadly the last was a bit of a let down. We were in a corner and had to fight to get any food brought our way. Its a tightly packed place. You need to book and if you do always take the earlier seating because not everyone vacates on time and you may end up waiting for a while as they reset the tables. Food when you get it is good for yum char standards.

The food was good here – but look slike its still suffering from service issues. We ordered the banquet which was all great but the timing was off. at least 45 mins between ordering and entrees, and another 45 minutes before mains, and naan bread arrived 15 minutes (after askign twice) after the mains. We did go after 7 on a saturday night but the place was not full. Its an old house so the layoutmay not be good for service. Good fodd but hope youre not in any form of a hurry

Good food, service as you woudl expect from a Thai restaurant. We had chicken with noodles and a whole fish – both were delicious.

We called in here on the way from Nelson to Picton expecting some local mussels. The mussels themselves were fine – although the portion a little on the small side for the price. Another had fish and chips which did not rate well – chips undercooked and the fish tasted of oil from the frying – little more.
They also have a 2.2% surcharge on their bill if you choose to pay by credit card, I was told my eftpos was declined when the receipt said “No dialtone” – so glad I had some cash. Needless to say I am in no hurry to return.

Tasting room has been around for ages, its a busy place and well located. The wine and Food menu could do with an overhaul. We enjoyed some starters, fish, bread, chips and a bottle of wine and it was suited to that sort of nibbles and drinks. I have previously eaten there – it would pay to book, there is a slightly quieter side on the left when you walk in or more of a bar on the right which is noticeably noisier on busy nights.

Went in on a Saturday night and it was really busy. We had a wait for a table but decided to just stay in the bar area and get a few plates from there which was very nice. Great decor and a good list of food choices. We will happily return there again and try some of the other options. Great to see some nice German beers of tap.

Good food here, nice cafe selection – steak sandwiches, Baked Potato plus all the bakery/cafe staples. We will definitely be going back when hungry through Levin.

I love the kebabs at Sahara – they beat any other on Courtney place. Friendly staff and same price to order a kebab and eat in on the tables rather than takeaway.
I have previously been there for dinner which was all good also .. but I rate the kebabs better!

Went there for my sons 9th birthday lunch – he enjoyed it and overall the staff were friendly, there was a fair amount of choice but I cant say the food was of a good standard or that I would want to go back again. There is indeed a wide variety and it is a smorgasbord …. so most people should find something – just don’t have high expectations!

Have been here twice and enjoyed it. Have taken kids as well and they also enjoyed. Staff were very friendly and in general the meals are of a very good standard. I do agree with some other reviews that the heat has been westernised, and sadly they have some ‘kiwi’ versions on the menu which were disappointing, essentially meat and vege with gravy – that was the only serious letdowns – but knowing that I would happily return and order different foods.

Food was good, the decor is simple. They mucked up the booking so we ate downstairs which was rather sterile and busy with takeaway diners, but good food for the $, would definately return, and looks to be pretty kid friendly as well.
