A delightful meal.
5 of Us, across 3 Generations went last week,
The mixed entree was ok, the Chicken Tikka was lovely, and the Samosa’s remarkable, but the mains were Great.

Highlights, Fish Tikka, Prawn Masala and Chicken something starting with B, I will update later ,
Not so memorable, Beef korma and Mushroom masala.

Staff, great, warm and friendly, efficient
Environment, nice, not noisy
Value, spot on, around $ 160 for 5 entrees and mains, excl Wine

I visited last week, despite the reviews.
We had a good meal, the Scallops inferno.

I had noted all the comments about service so we sat off to one side and placed our full order, in one discussion, including wine.

The service was fine
The food, was OK
I had had the Scallops inferno at Portofino in Wellington and Takapuna’s was not as good, watery and lacking intensity, but hey we were on the Shore, maybe that’s just the way things are.

The Feisty one and I recently had a lovely evening here,
She is a great fan of Stonegrill, and to be fair I am not, but lets set that aside.

This is a wonderful setting,
When I win Lotto, I will take up permanent residency, (please ?).
It’s simply lovely, everything country life used to try to be, but
Simpler, friendlier, warmer and just more personal.

Our waitress was just as super, and when the cook popped out,
Just the same, really a nice, warm, friendly, professional, yet welcoming and at ease. You would be proud to take anyone there.

The food was lovely
I have owned up to being less of a Stonegrill guy, than the delightful M, but it was good.
We had a Bread and Caramelised Onion entree
I will have it again.
I had the Stone grill lamb, I do favor Lamb in a good restaurant.
M had the Venison, she has the same approach, but prefers Venison.

Her Venison was the better choice, and I will have it next time.
We didn’t have desserts, we hardly ever do.

Summary
Go.
Venue, Service, Character, Great
Food, good, bear in mind that I am not a Stone grill guy, and
I did prefer Feisty’s Venison, she does have good taste.
Value, Bang on, I think it was early seventies for a Entree and 2 mains, good value I recommend.

My Daughters have decided that Robert Harris has the best Hot Chocolates at Coastlands, and I am sure that they are right,
I like the Hot Lemon and Ginger drinks, and the Fresh water.

I have not eaten much there, but I do recall it as being very pleasant, probably why it has survived, and Cafe Brie appears to have closed.

Always a safe stop.

The delightful T took Me out for Brunch here recently
I would definitely recommend it.

We had a Big Breakfast (I cant remember its name)
The Mushrooms were inspirational, I Love good Mushrooms,
The Bacon and Sausages super (and I really do not like fatty bangers).

I made a request to change a item on the list (fussy demanding Customer that I am) and it was done cheerfully, they even offered me more of another item which I was rapt by !

Service, Super,
Food, Great,
Value, Just right
Coffee, Really good.

Conclusion, a easy, Automatic place to go back to
I do recommend it for anyone passing Paekakariki.

Definitely my Favourite Thai on the Coast
I have been a fan of Thai soups, and salads for a log time now, and the Muang Thai really serves a excellent meal.
The menu can be confusing as the final “Bill” often does not match the Prices on the menu in the window, and
there are 3 other Thai locally, but the Muang is my favourite,
A good choice for a nice meal out, and not too Anglicised

The “Feisty” one and I had a Memorable meal here in May
For all the GOOD Reasons.
We had come off the ferry and were heading through to Nelson, latish.
We had no Idea what to do for some Road Grub, and we needed a light tasty meal.
We found it, I had a BLAT, T had a Cajun Chicken Burger.
Her Burger, was definitely the better of the 2.

Burgers as they should be, Meat beautifully cooked, lots of “Healthy Green S**t”, and good flavour.
Real food, not Chain store Cr@p.
The Service was super, a really nice Young couple
The Atmosphere, warm and relaxed
The value, right on, for Burgers on the road.

Try it out, we will return, sometime.

I am beginning to Question My Loyalty to the Turkish cafe
I have had many enjoyable meals here, and
I do believe (from experience) that its better than its Newmarket Protege, but
the cost is creeping up, and on Monday night the Meat was verging on the “dried out”, however in fairness
the entrees of Calamari and Nachos I would recommend wholeheartedly, perhaps I did not choose my Main wisely ?

I often go there for the Baklava, after a meal elsewhere
(I am not a fan of Indian, or Thai deserts) and
Its very good Baklava.

One of My favourites, and it never disappoints.
My friend Nakamura and I discovered it on a Ponsonby rd Bar crawl one night 12 or so Years ago and I go back once or twice a Year. I was there Tuesday night, and its still Great.
David is a consummate show man with a incredible pedigree of Success, and very entertaining.
I recommend the 2 People for 96 $ set Menu,
Its very good, and one of the good points is that
You don’t go home hungry,
Its very good quality, but more so, very good Value for Japanese.
Check it out, I do enjoy Japanese, and I recommend Fuji.

We had a memorable lunch here, and intend to return.
We shared a Flat Bread, which I will definitely have again, then a 2 fish, Fish and chips with Salad, and it was good, however the “Stand out” was the Mushroom Soup.

“The Lovely T” ordered it,
much as I adore Mushrooms I do not often find a Mushroom Soup that I like, and this one changed Me for the better.

Pop in and try it, really good, We are planning to have a Late morning snack here, on the way back.

We had a nice meal
The Service was Prompt and efficient
the Burgers were Generous, and delicious
I have not tried “Fergs” in Queenstown, but definitely comparable to Wisconsin, or Burger fuel.

I had the Lamb Burger, T had the Venison
I reckon Her Venison was nicer than my Lamb, but
I am happy that She has such good taste

The Best Meal, of 3 so far in Wanaka
Entree, the Cashew Marsala Salad, I loved
Its always been a favourite when I “Go Indian” and this was a good one, well worth a try
The Onion Bhaji was also good, some nice Flavours above the norm, I would have it again

Mains, We shared the Garlic Chicken, and the Venison,
the Sauce on the Venison was good, but the Meat was not to my style, however the Garlic Chicken made up for it.
The Garlic Chicken really was super,
Pop in and try it.

Entree pricing, fair and reasonable
I felt that the mains were priced above what I would pay in Wellington or Auckland, but “the lovely T” corrected Me, and
As I said, the best meal so far in Wanaka.

We had a really nice meal here recently,
Funnily enough we were “going” to the Thai Lagoon next door, and on the way down I stated “Right, I am going to try something I have not had before”, well We certainly did that.

The food was nice, not spectacular but nice,
I had the Beef Fajita platter, T had the Chicken version.
Generally, similar to the Lone-stars equivalent, there are some differences, of course.

We both thought that it was a lovely meal, and that We will go back there again.
The spur of the moment decision not to go to the Thai that We were heading for, was right.

Try it out for variety.

A Personal favourite,
I will state right now, I am a Fan, and
We are going there next week for a treat.

We would go 2 or 3 times a Year, and
I do enjoy Spice (Thai, Malay, Mexican etc),
I like the Tandoori cafe because the flavours that they present are not as anglicized as many NZ Restuarants,
They are also very good at Personal Requests,
There was a “Indian Garlic lamb” that they used to make for Me as a “special”.

One small inconvenience, it can be cold on a Windy Kapiti day.

What a wide variety of reviews so far.

We had a pleasant meal here a month or so ago.
I enjoyed it, and would go back again, but the little place at Raumati south is competitive.

Is the Duck and Dog open again ?
I do hope so, but it’s a Conundrum to review.

In brief some of the most impressive and memorable food that I have enjoyed, however
It usually takes at least a hour to get fed.

The last time we went, we had a snack before We left home,

I loved the food but We had a snack at home before We left, and
If its open, I will do the same again.

We have had a couple of meals here,
I am surprised by the negative reviews.
Of the 3 or 4 times We have been the food has always been Prompt and the Service efficient.

The food is fine, but I think the Thai around the corner has more traditional Thai food, unfortunately they charge more too

The food is Superb, and Reasonably priced
The Owner was previously at Cafe Rosetta and it is a delight to enjoy this nice, casual and Tasty food agai.
Well worth a look, unfortunately
I do have to agree about the Opening hours.
We would eat there more often, if We could.
