Food always good here- one of my husband’s favourites. However of late, the owner/manager’s short temper and loud telling off of good staff in front of customers is a bit embarrassing when you have guests!
We found the staff obliging and provide good service- the meals are great but please don’t ruin a good thing by unpleasantness!
We have found the food generous in portion and adjusts well to out taste needs for spice.

Went Saturday night with a voucher wondering if we would be treated as second class after reading the reviews here. But no-the staff were polite and caring and the food arrived just when we wanted it. No problem with the included beer being a Kingfisher and Settler’s Hill wine. No problem either taking away what we didn’t eat. All the food was delicious and the choice of curry was a little different from the usual Indian and there was plenty of meat & prawns in the curry. One friend wanted medium to hot and it was delivered as they liked it- my husband likes mild and he got that too. We will be going back with other friends. Only a small charge for corkage on top of that. A really nice atmosphere with helpful staff who served good food in a timely fashion.

Went with a voucher dinner for 4. Not a Japanese waitperson in sight- all Koreans and hard to get your self understood. For $128 it was ok….2 dinner plates to be shared among 4 of Mains and a choice of chicken or beef vegetable stir-fry and 2 bottles of Sake. Included was the cabbage salad and half pieces of sushi. Not memorable enough to go back to I’m afraid- much better value to be had elsewhere and nicer food. Everyone through the door had a voucher!

Always consistently good delicious generous helping of food at good prices with good service. Medium spicy is what it says! I like the decor and the family all helping to make this place one of the best kept secrets!
We enjoy the duck here and the fish fillets.

Went recently with friends again after a couple of “so so” experiences. The lamb rack was superb as was my friend’s steak. Simple fare but the meat as a feature is a good idea- they do that well. Not a huge selection in the entrees- just bread and spread type things or crostini but means you are not tempted to overeat. BYo an advantage. We enjoyed out evening here and the food was better than I recalled- will go again. Not for those in a hurry. Don’t expect the phone to be answered when he’s busy!

After one bad experience here ( where they simply didn’t deliver 2 meals and didn’t say they had run Out) we had an excellent meal here. Flounder was absolutely delicious and beef and prawns and bacon. This time the staff were very efficient and attentive to our needs.
Will be back soon. Keep it up!

Although we went with a voucher, we were not made to feel like 2nd class citizens- all the menu was available for us. Great service- great staff- great food. The entree of whitebait fritters and French onion soup was delicious- the steak and the crayfish were great.Will return for sure. Thanks for the great night.

Arrived for our 7 pm booking and had to wait for 7 mins for someone to show us to our table. The takeaway, payment and arrivals are altogether! No one delegated to greet arriving guests. Another long wait to get a cork out of a bottle. Only 4 menus for 6 people. However the food arrived in a timely fashion once we got it ordered and everyone enjoyed their meal although my friend thought the duck portion was a little lacking in duck compared with elsewhere. Perhaps the service staff could smile a little too…always in an real rush and very sombre. The food was generally good but the service issue would have me choose other places in preference.

Went back recently after vowing never to go again about 2 years ago as the noise and service then was horrific! But we had a lovely meal and there is now a carpet on the floor so we could hear conversation. Would now return again soon.

The $10 mains 3 nights a week are a bonus but this little restaurant produces consistently high quality food, great service, and a very obliging, friendly Maitre’d who does his best to ensure your meal is up to the high standard we have come to expect from here. Cooking done so you can see what is going on and we have found the food is always tasty. Well done.Keep it up

Pizza was nice but chicken salad was advertised with noodles and when questioned about where they were, was told that not many people liked it so they stopped putting it in! ( But didn’t take it off menu?) My friends said the steak was nice but one had a large piece of inedible gristly fat. Other meals weren’t special. We were a big group with 3 babies but it is hard to understand why people who came in and ordered after us were served well before us. So the ones with the babies had to gobble their food fast as it was 1 hour after we ordered that it was delivered. We arrived at 6.30 and while the drinks arrived in a timely fashion, the food ordering process was very slow. The main server didn’t smile and seemed only just able to cope. A couple of her quick ” throw away lines” I found actually quite offensive. No one asked if our meals were ok at any stage and the children’s meals were delivered without serviettes which took some persistence to get ( 10 mins!) Not a friendly place that I would want to come back to quickly.

Friday night and a beautiful location. Waiting staff were faultless -Emily in particular. Food arrived in timely manner and was delicious and even my fussy friend really enjoyed her Hapuka. Prices are spendy but BYO, even @ 8.50 a bottle, is cheaper than buying wine there.
An enjoyable night for a special occasion.

Have been a few times before and our visit this time was also good. Food timely arrival and good value we thought. I hesitated about ordering a seafood pizza but it was lovely – base thin. Waiting staff very well trained and obliging. Will return…. especially as it’s BYO.

Recently changed and no longer BYO so without an entertainemnt coupon we will not return. Pizza for starters was nice but it was slow to arrive. That was compensated for by the mains arriving in a timely fashion. The lamb shank, the eye fillet and the beef ribs were all enjoyed but the fish of the day was swimming in sauce which was disappoining for my friend. Very obliging as supplied salad instead of potato. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff were all friendly and gave good service. Will return.

Went on Sat with 2 friends. Was a bit dubious because of the poor reviews so made sure food would be ” tasty” enough by ordering medium ” Thai.” We were all impressed with our meals…one of us ordered something not on the menu..he was delighted with the response and the meal when it arrived. One of my fussiest friends pronounced her meal beautiful and mine(Penang curry) was just how I wanted it. We will go back. BYo an advantage as were the lovely hot plates and attentive service.

We were a party of 6 and liked the place. It has character and you are not cramped against the next table. The waitresses were good and very attentive even though they were fairly busy.(Sat Night.) Finger bowls were provided for the pork spare ribs without asking. Our meals were good and there was plenty at a reasonable price and the bYO was an advantage. Being able to change potatoes for vegetables at no cost was great. Will return for sure.

Staff wonderful and friendly. Meals lacked imagination though. They were very standard fare. Lovely atmosphere.

Today 13 Jan was indeeed Black Friday. Abominable food abominable service …main delivered before entre after a wait of 1 hour…people seeking refunds as was so bad……never to return

Went back there for Son’s 30th at end of March wondering if it would be as good as he recalled it in January 2011, this time with 8 people & 4 week old baby. They delivered very well. All meals well presented and appetising- a variety was ordered and everyone enjoyed their meal. Byo which is a bonus- meals came with vegetables and we had a good celebration! Gordon (Maitre’d) looked after us in a timely fashion.

Nice for a ” one off’ but not memorable enough to return. Staff seemed efficient but had a first hand view of the timy kitchen and some very interesting goings on. Not special enough food but we enjoyed our evening.

Service was good and timely and waiter very pleasant and caring.Food prices within budget with mains round $20 and other accompaniments a good price. Serves Sake & beer byo wine. Food seemed fresh.
Enjoyed our evening- perhaps not the great selection offered elsewhere but still well worth a visit. Will return for sure.

Never fails to impress with reasonable prices &meals that make you feel you couldn’t have cooked at home ( sauces are so tasty) attentive service and yes BYO! We return time and time again for good celebration dinners!

Another great night with reasonable food prices and BYO corkage- plenty to eat for my hungry friends and a nice atmosphere…Jass and his Bolivian and Colombian staff made it a nice dinner out with our friends. The duck, pork, the lamb and the steak were all most enjoyable…parking easy and pleasant friendly service

Good food- cheap prices and BYO $1 per glass. With most meals come rice and veges and Miso soup>.Very good value for money.We will return.
Recommend the sizzling beef $11 and the deep fried vegetable $8 for entree!

Returned with friends after our good experience before- what a diappointment. The food took a long time to arrive and there really wasn’t enough to satisfy our friends even with entre and desert. The tiramsu was very average. The food was cold- I have never sent a meal back to be heated before. Sadly we wont be back.

Ended up here when the place we had booked was just too noisy. Meals were well priced- hot pot for $20, portions were generous and the service good. Lovely courtyard at the back and another spacious room to accommodate more diners. This place is good enough to go back to as this is value for money and a nice atmosphere with tasty food.

The meal portions were small but tasted OK. My husband ordered the steak chips and egg and he got 4 small potato squares for the chips which he found disappointing.
Decor very good but still lacked something- BYO is a plus. Would not come again- better meals can be had for the same price close by.

One of my better meals and dining experiences. The atmosphere couldn’t be faulted- the service attentive and the food excellent. A well hidden secret with modest prices and a variety of vegetables (that aren’t charged as extras). The bruscetta was generous (4 different sorts), the beef and the fish dishes were well presented and tasty. Thanks for a lovely evening- we’ll be back!

Portions are small. A long wait for our main course when restaurant only half full. Felt not overall good experience..staff seemed to need more training.

An off chance visit! What a gem!
Service good..( with no grumble when I changed my mind) plenty of food- served fresh and hot. BYO an advantage here too. Will be back with friends soon.
